Yesterday was arm day. I did a preacher curl with a 110 lb ezbar which was a first for me. Only 6 reps at that weight, but I'll bring it up over time.

You rock. Pinterest is awesome too except that so many pins have truly decadent desserts which could lead you astray. Oh and it's jam packed with mostly women's interests which kinda drives me nuts.

Lunges. Just do lunges... they can be done anywhere and will burn after only a few minutes. Do a few and then incrementally improve by adding some weight / reps.

Cheat meals are BS if you ask me. Why give up several days of progress on a cheat meal / day? The only time I cheat is when I'm socially obligated to eat more normally (business dinner or a birthday for instance).

It is totally possible to eat clean at McDonalds - they have plenty of healthy foods but you just need to be prepared so you don't arrive, get lazy and just choose "Meal 1" which is full of fat. Caffeine or a pre-workout drink is what makes the difference for me. Gets me off my *kitten*. If I use jack3d, I'll be working out for a few hours.

I think it is worth the calories if they give you energy to burn. I recommend carbs only for breakfast or lunch and definitely a workout after you eat those carbs. If you're not working out soon after eating the carbs, I'd say don't bother. Load up on carbs before a workout - kill it in the gym, then eat lots of protein…

As for sweetener - my favorite new thing is Splenda plus fiber. Since I eat a lot of meat, it is always to get extra fiber. Yes I eat a lot of vegetables, but once in a while I don't get enough veggies. Fiber is also good for binding to carbs or sugars and making them get pushed through your system without processing.

Protein powder on its own won't do anything for you. With exercise and a good diet, protein will definitely help though. With that said, I'd suggest you try casein. It is better at keeping you feeling full than whey protein. You can find whey in most supermarkets, but casein is only at a nutrition place like GNC.

It could be from the oils extracted from the bean. Espresso has even more oils than a drip/brewed coffee and so a small double-shot of espresso actually has 10 calories.

Thanks for this! I'll now start browsing for a monitor. Still though - if I do a bench press with precise numbers of reps, sets and weight - I would think that I could get a perfect # of calories using a computer ( without a heart rate monitor).
