Don't hesitate to grab some free weights and move to a different area of the gym if that makes it feel less intimidating. I've done that before. But really, most people are zoned in on themself any way. Put in your earbuds and give it a go. Your fear/intimidation will dissapear after you give it a few gos. Post here how it…

So did it work? Just finally ready your response... I see your point about low-fat vs regular. Although I did first get into fitness after Doc said my cholesterol was getting too close to high to ignore. I might read the book you mentioned. As a reminder to savor. :)

I started yesterday. If you do it soon friend me and we can help stay accountable.

I heard that podcast too and my ears perked up because I am in the same boat... I weigh what I weighed in HS and am fine with where I am at but ten more lbs would be perfect. I do a lot of circuit training at my boxing gym, I try to eat "clean" but don't always succeed, and have MFP set to lose .5 lbs a week. Never do.…

it seemed low to me too (calories for bag work) but then I got a heart rate monitor and now that I wear it I can tell you, MFP is indeed right on. my boxing gym (LA Boxing) sounds like a similar format. I log the burpies/mountain climbers/push ups as "circuit training" which is pretty accurate (per my HRM).

what does TDEE and BMR stand for?

I would avoid quick wraps. They don't seem to come sized for women. If they are too big they are very uncomfortable. As for gloves, I really like Waldorf. Their website sales their gloves at wholesale prices so they are a great deal. I've been very satisfied. http://www.woldorf.com/Shop-list-1.html Only thing I have to add…

anyone know of an online vendor that sales Polar HRMs and accepts FLEX payments (Flex spending account card)?

I did C5K almost 2 years ago. my advice: run outside! seriously treadmill running is so boring and mentally painful to me, nothing beats heading out on the road. more advice: invest in some good running shoes, if you over/under probate buy accordingly or get arch supports, and finally... relatively soon after starting I…

Mixed with yogurt is quick and yummy. add a little granola too if you like a little sweet. if you eat regular oats, be sure to add salt to water while boiling, and I like them undercooked, more texture.

explore the goal settings part, you'll understand how it works better. I don't try to eat the difference in what I burn but at same time, I am more hungry when I exercise and for me that means I need to eat (otherwise I snack on junk before bed...better to eat something healthy after working out instead). hope that helps.

not sure on the if you need to eat more question (my gut says a little more probably) but one good way to get some healthy calories is making a fruit Smoothie. I use frozen fruit, Non fat Greek yogurt, skim milk and TJs Soy Protein Powder. about 250 calories but lots of vitamins and such. easy to get down when you aren't…

boiled egg, sliced yellow bell pepper, celery, carrots, low fat string cheese, apple, figs.

My name is Lisa, I joined LA Boxing last May and go about four times a week. Totally fun workout. Anyone have a guess how many calories the LA Boxing workout really burns? They advertise up to 1000 cals but I'm only 5'2" so I enter it as 600 in MFP. curious how others document a good workout.

I started running with the Couch to 5K app in summer or 2011. I did my first half marathon that November and last month I did my first full marathon. Keep it up! and as others said, don't worry about your pace too much but I do find tracking and getting faster/building endurance motivates me. You should totally find a 10K…

I cook it like I would swiss chard or greens. cook it down a little with olive oil and basalmic vinegar. or you can just steam it and eat it with a little olive oil and soy sauce.

eat more. add a protein smoothies (I do vanilla muscle milk powder with banana, milk and coffee or with the powder with OJ and milk) so you get about 300 more calories or so in a healthy way. at least on the exercise days, do that right after your workout. will help with the recovery too.

I always try to choose food that has been verified by at least a few others. learned that lesson after choosing a honey that listed crazy vitamins...for a day or so I thought I'd discovered a super food. lol

not sure about body type but there's a book I highly recommend called Rethinking Thin. It explains that no matter what your weight (even if it was above the BMI recs), a good goal is to try to get back to what you weighed when you graduated high school. so for me that's 5'2" and 140 lbs which is exactly where I am right…

adding to others... try French press, self grinding. I recommend buying a quality coffee (I get different brands but always look for Fair Trade symbol). once I switched it only took a week before I preferred it. good job switching. also, I've always found Starbucks coffee too strong for an empty stomach. I order Americano…

one thing I'd recommend is to try to make a game out of getting over your percentage for vitamins. that helps me eat more healthy, especially on the days when I burn a lot doing cardio and thus NEED to eat more. You definitely seem to need more fruits and veggies in there. I can't imagine your getting enoug Vit C, A or…

Crystal Lite pretty tasty. they have a raspberry green tea one that's yummy. I like all flavors.
