It's annoying, I know, but I think you really need to find what works for you  I personally would say that I eat whatever I like, provided I stick within my calorie/fat/etc. goals for the day. So yeah, I could have pizza for dinner, provided I had a healthy breakfast and lunch and maybe went to the gym. And so far…

Families are always a difficult one ... It's hard you say without knowing you all personally, but generally speaking parental opposition tends to come from: 1) Feeling offended. In my family, not eating what's been cooked for you is a massive insult! All you can do is explain why you've made that choice - but know it may…

I will probably get a lot of slack for saying this, but ... I went through a stage of eating dangerously few calories - I wasn't anorexic, but I was going about everything the wrong way. And let me tell you something, I did anything and everything I could to hide the problems I was having with food. I certainly would never…

Biscuits. Once I open the packet it takes a hell of a lot not to scarf the lot down!

I do like going to the gym with my friends - figure it's a social activity that's better for me than going out to dinner or gobbling popcorn at the cinema - but I find it hard to work out properly with them there. Like you guys said, we tend to talk and get distracted. If I'm working out properly I really need to…

RE: Amy's meals ... I don't eat them personally, but you might find this: http://www.snack-girl.com/snack/amys-frozen-meals-healthy/ quite interesting. Organic ingredients and no preservatives = pretty good. Although you might want to keep an eye on the sodium. Overall it's probably still better to make your own, but if…

For me personally the only thing that worked was getting everything out of the house. But some other tips I found quite handy are: 1) Breaking things into portions when you buy them - like wrapping biscuits in packages of two, or two squares of chocolate, or putting a handful of crisps in a freezer bag. Something about…

To me it's doing everything I can to avoid chemicals and processed foods. When I'm in the supermarket I check the labels on everything - if I can't pronounce what's in it, I don't buy it. It also means buying organic whenever I can, but that stuff's expensive :( Of course this isn't exclusive, because I can't give up every…

I agree, I think you've been pretty considerate - when my neighbours crash about the thing I find most annoying is not knowing when they'll stop. By letting him know you'll just be working out 20mins at a time I think it'll make him more tolerant. I live in a top floor flat, so I totally get how frustrating it is to want…

Thanks everyone, good to know I'm not the only one! I'll have to try and remember this next time I'm tempted to treat myself!

Well, my birthday is on Christmas day, so my actual 21st was v. tame. But when I went back to uni I had a post-21st party. I honestly don't remember most of it. I know it involved a house party, a pub crawl, a truly disgusting underground club, and downing an entirely juicy lucy cocktail in under a minute. Good times ... :)

Thanks so much everyone, amazing ideas here!!! I might just show her this page and get her to pick what she likes most! But will definitely stock up on fruit to snack on, and check out the calorie content at Starbucks - they actually print it on the board now so I have no excuse!!

Hi, welcome to MFP! I think it totally depends on your lifestyle. For me, because I am super-organised, I like to log my food and exercise the evening before - that way I can plan my food and I'm less likely to cheat. Plus if I know I've got something coming up (like, for example, a co-worker's birthday who'll be bringing…
