I too was excited and scared as hell when I got the news I had been waiting for - that I was approved to have my Lapband surgery. But it was a good excitement - I was lucky during the 6 mo supervised diet I lost enough weight that I didn't have to do the two week liquid plan. Just 3 days. But I would have done it if…

I agree about the WLS haters being wrong. I have heard from several friends \ acquaintances that WLS surgery is the 'EASY' way out. Well since I have the Lapband and follow my doctors advice - it is not easy. I have to track my food and my exercise. But it is a tool I use. I have also lost 57% of my excess body weight!!!…

As with any type of surgery or medical procedure - there are risks involved with all. You will hear horror stories about all three kinds of Weight Loss Surgery. People choose the one that is best for them and meets their needs. I chose the LapBand. i have 6 friends - two who had GBP, four who had the band. One of the…

Gonna follow this for more suggestions. I currently use Pure Protein and GNC Total Lean. They came out with pumpkin and a peppermint mocha. Yum.

You know I have the same issue. Ironically as I was reading this post - my pouch and broccoli were having 'the' discussion and the pouch won. I won't be having broccoli for a long time now. Some days broccoli isn't so tasty going down but coming up is even worse. I too have days when my band works like a champ. Can't put…

I haven't worn hose in literally ages. But have been kicking around the idea of spanx. I did try some on a few weeks ago and really feel there should be an exercise category for putting those things on - or at least trying. Suffice to say I felt like your sausage roll and it took as much time to get them off as it did to…

Are you ok? How did the endoscopy go? Hope you are doing good...

I am fortunate that my hubby supports me. He will remind to chew slowly and smaller bites. He does say that I will be out looking for a new guy after I have lost all my weight - but he knows I won't. He knows that by having this surgery and losing this weight that I will be around for much longer than if I had not done…

I had Lapband on 6/28/2012. Because of insurance I had to have a 6mo medically managed diet. I had to lose 20lbs for the surgery - I lost 35. So because of that I did not have to go thru the full two weeks of pre-op that those that get approved quicker than I did have to go thru. I did have to go thru the 7 week diet after…

When I was 16 a woman at the laudromat asked my 6 yr old sister if she was helping mommy do the laundry. My sis said - No she is my sister. Fast forward 35 yrs - My sis and I were at the mall and we went into the Photography studio that she and her family had the Christmas photos taken at. While we were discussing the…

Start now learning how to eat after surgery. Small bites, measure, get your water in, stop soda (fizzy is not good for pouches), look at your proteins. Find out what you are supposed to do - my doc has a notebook, a one day pre-op class (learn how much we can eat, when not to drink water, no soda, etc) - and rI efer to…

Well have not lost my 100lbs yet - only 23lbs from that mile marker. Like to say that all of you have accomplished so much!!! Forgot to mention - I started MFP 1/2/2012. I had lapband on 6/28/2012. Lost 34.5lbs prior to surgery and post-op 43.5. Geri
