Hi and welcome! I'm a T1, too, so feel free to add me. I was diagnosed at 24 (unusual for a T1, I know), am 43 now and have been on a pump for about 10 years. We definitely have our own set of challenges, but it's been so great to connect with other T1s here for help and support. :)

I was just looking on my pump to scroll through my daily totals so I could respond to this, and I discovered that it has an averaging function on it. I never noticed that before, so thanks to all of you for helping me learn something new today! :) I did an average of the last 21 days, and here's what it says: Total…

I had my ovaries removed 5 years ago and have been in surgical menopause ever since. It's definitely become harder not only to lose weight, but to maintain where I already am. It's frustrating and demotivational to work hard and see so little result, but I do think it's important to keep trying. I'm definitely not someone…

Sorry that link didn't work. Another way to find the group is to go to the Community tab and then click on Groups in the sub-navigation bar. In the Search box, type "type 1 - juvenile diabetics" and the group should show up. Let me know if that doesn't work...

Hi and welcome! I'm a T1, too, and there are lots of others on here as well. There's a Type 1 Group in the forums here if you want to join: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/249-type-1-juvenile-diabetics. Sounds like you're on a pump, right? Do you have a CGM? Several of us use them and find them to be very helpful.…

I think it's really interesting to see how my blood sugars react depending on my level of activity. I tend to go through phases where I'm really motivated and work out consistently and hard, and then I lose my motivation and want to just sit on the couch and eat....although I'm trying to break out of that mold! But…

Well, fancy meeting you here! :) Yup, T1, cancer survivor, mutant genetics...I'm definitely at the shallow end of my family's gene pool! LOL

I'm starting Turbo Fire this coming Monday. Was supposed to start this week but had to take a week off from working out. Can't wait to get going! Feel free to add me. :)

This is very interesting. I've always felt like I sweat more than the average woman, but I've also noticed that I'm very sensitive to heat and humidity. If I'm outside for any length of time, I tend to get headrushes and feel nauseous. Now I wonder if it's because of my T1. Thanks for the info!

I just talked to my endo about this at my appointment last week. I need to make sure my BS is about 170-180 before I head to the gym because I know it's going to drop at least 100 points during my workout. I was eating a piece of fruit before I went but that didn't seem to be helping. My endo suggested trying something…

Feel free to add me, too! I can't decide if I'm perfectly imperfect or imperfectly perfect.......

Hi! Well, ummmm.....so far I haven't had much luck losing weight, BUT I'm not sure I can blame it on my T1. I'm on a pump, which gives me a lot more flexibility with what/when/how much I eat, but I'm a foodie and am having a really hard time adjusting my food intake down. So my revised goal is to stop trying so hard to…

My go-to recipe for salad dressing is modified from one I originally found in the South Beach Diet: 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1 Tbsp EVOO 1 tsp oregano 1/2 tsp salt

Hi everyone, this is a fun post and a good way to get to know everyone a little better. At what age and what year were you diagnosed with T1? 24, back in 1994 - very unusual, and I found out by a total fluke. I was getting more serious in a relationship and went to Planned Parenthood to go on the pill. They wouldn't…

I always keep jellybeans around. They are all sugar and have no fat so they're absorbed quickly without needing too many. I also like them because they don't go bad and don't need refrigeration, so even if I don't need them for a while I know they'll still be good next time I do.

Hi and welcome! I'm T1, too, and there are quite a few of us on this site. I'm like BeFitwithT1 and have always been on insulin, and also like her I've been a pumper for about 9 years and use strictly Humalog. I'll send you a friend request because we can all use support and it helps to know there are others here with you!

Hi and welcome! There are a bunch of us T1s on here, and it's so great that we can support each other and offer support and advice given the additional challenges of maintaining good blood sugars while adjusting to a healthier lifestyle. I was diagnosed with T1 18 years ago and have been on a pump for about 9 years now.…

I'm a pumper, too! Been using the Medtronic/Minimed Paradigm for several years and very happy with it. I've been diabetic for about 18 years and I've always been in good control, but I find that as I get older it's getting more difficult. I got a CGM to go with my pump, and while I don't use it very often because it's kind…

I've lived in Massachusetts my whole life and grew up sailing on the Atlantic. I ride my bike to the beach now and can't imagine living anywhere I couldn't get to the ocean. In fact, my reward for reaching my goal weight is a new tattoo that encorporates water into it because it's such a big part of my life.

Friend request sent. I'm in my 40's, too, and determined not to "let myself go" just because it's a little more challenging to keep the pounds off now. My life is better than it's ever been, and it can keep getting better! :)

I'm a Type I diabetic, but I hesitate to give you any advice beyond checking with your diabetes doctor. Everyone is different, everyone's insulin sensitivity is different, and everyone's diet and exercise plan should be tailored individually. Good luck!
