  • I have found that Alice in Chains can get me motivated, especially when I am in a bad mood. Guess it is because it is angry music, LOL :-) Also like old school Duran Duran believe it or not.
  • Yes, I have considered taking it up to 1400 and see if this makes a difference. Again, cogntively and emotionally are two different things if you know what I mean. I am not going to eat my exercise calories daily, it does not suit my lifestyle and research suggests there is no difference when you weight it all out…
  • I don't eat my exercise calories daily. I spike on the weekend instead, which serves the same purpose of ensuring the body does not go into starvation mode and ups your metabolism. There is a lot of research on it and this is an alternative to eating the exercise calories daily. It is similar to zig-zagging and there are…
  • I think age really plays a factor here as well. As every decade goes by, what my body wants to be as it's low point is not the same. Where I could easily get down to 115 in my teens and early 20's, turned into around 130 in my late twenties early thirties, and now I think I will be lucky to get under 135 as I head into my…
  • Dove Chocolate (daily), coffee (daily) and a beer (three nights a week). What is the point if you can not enjoy what you like and make it fit with your goals :-)
  • I don't like them so much either, but after about 2 weeks, I got used to it. The only thing I can find to mix it with that I like is 1% milk and strawberries. No other berries seem to be sweet enough. The vanilla with strawberries isn't so bad at all and I don't even mind it. If you like protein replacement bars better,…
  • It is also so you don't kill your metabolism by eating to little as well. Your body does not react well to low calories all the time and it will adapt by slowing down the burning of the calories.
  • my understanding is that they are both equally important.
  • anybody know what cost range to expect?
  • May have to try it to get my protein up on some days. However, I cannot stand cottage cheese, so I am taking your word for it, but be prepared to hear my wrath if it makes me quesy, LOL.....J/K
  • I really like mixing high end cheeses (feta, goat, etc.) with veggies...sooo good. I would advise that you buy some meal replacement bars that are lower in carbs to have on hand in case you have a day where you work out a lot and are running out the door, are at work, or too busy to make something. It is better than not…
  • French fries with a coke! But I do have it on my splurge/spike days. Tastes so much better when you work for it :-)
  • Yes, I recognize the need for protein, that is why I am upping the amount.
  • hard to justify McDonalds....no doubt it is horrible for you, but it can be used in moderation as a splurge, but probably should not be more than once every couple weeks. Their low fat ice cream cones are actually only 150 calories, and much lower carbs than most other types of ice cream. I do get these when I am really…
  • Yes, from all I have read, the weekly deficit is more important than the daily.
  • what I am more curious about is the impact of the using the calorie/carb cycling as a way to increase metabolism. I get that I need to splurge occasionally to stay on the diet, that is not a question. I just want to know if anyone has effectively used this cycling of calories to increase weight loss, as it makes perfect…
  • I do eat small amounts of what I want at times, as I eat a little bit of chocolate daily, and I have one light beer on weekend nights.
  • I think I can do it with out derailing, I just don't want to mess up my hard work during the week. There is really a lot of research to suggest this is really good for your metabolism. It makes a lot of sense, I guess I just have to trust it won't end up with me gaining weight. I have worked too hard to sabatoge myself
  • Yes, I meant splurge!!!! Geesh! and I actually typed it several times that way....I am spelling impaired, always have been! LOL
  • thanks, I will look into it
  • man, I got called out here!!! I do secretly race the old people in the pool!!! Unless, I AM the old person???? lol
  • Things like insanity and 30 day shred are not good for individuals who have leg issues because it has to be low resistance, that was my point of the post. My legs are two different sizes and anything that has me putting a lot of impact on them will cause spine issues. This is why I am a swimmer. Thanks for the advise…
  • *I hear crickets over here*
  • Asia spicy chicken soup....I am telling you, it is awesome. Problem is that you have to either find somewhere that has it or make it, but it is really easy to make and very healthy. The recipe is in group I created, can't remember if your part of it or not. Let me know if you need it.
  • You're doing well Tina :-) My husband is doing it with me also, and it really makes all the difference in the world to have that kind of support and for meal planning! We really want our son to not be raised the way we were with horribly unhealthy eating habits and little exercise.
  • sounds good, that was my thought too. I was thinking about allowing myself to go out to eat and eat more that I want every other Saturday, but offsetting this with additional exercise that day. But of course not going off teh deep end with it and trying to be somewhat conscious of what foods may lead to additional cravings…
  • I found that you have to get all teh crap out of your house. I find the most motivation by going shopping for great fruits/vegetables and a place like whole foods. You just have to get started, that is the hard part. Force yourself to get started by only having healthy food in the house and spend some money on it so you…
