I looked at the run less program and I would feel more confident with a 4th day of running. I am also concerned about injury - the paces look more aggressive than I am used to. Spiriteagle - I have done a couple and next month am doing another sprint triathlon. I have a trainer at home, so it's easier for me to squeeze in…

Thanks! That was my concern - too low mileage. I sort of followed this plan for my first marathon, but I added a 5th day of easy running and I added a 4th long run bc of schedule changes. I ended up having to tone it down (in terms of pace) for a month bc of a vicious blister on the bottom of my foot and then the day of…

Thanks everyone! I have been doing a 20 minute routine after a run or bike ride twice a week. Not the same routine every time. I take parts of full body dumbbell routine from Muscle & Strength and some of the 21 day fix routines. I am trying to make it as part of my cooldown so it is part of the routine and I don't feel as…

5-miler run at the winery. Running it for fun, not so much competitively.

Sprint triathlon - 1/4 mile pool swim, 10.3 mile bike, 5k. It will be chilly on the bike, but perfect for the run!

Thanks Spiriteagle! I don't think I need 4 days/week of biking and/or swimming for the sprint triathlons, but maybe I will run 4/days a week and follow a normal running plan. I will just include swimming or biking 2 of those days.

I am 45. Hopefully not quite middle aged yet. I plan on living a long, healthy life. :)

Thanks! i posted my question a little late for the BSR this weekend, but I am planning on doing a half-marathon in the fall so I will keep your schedule.

Do you do any interval runs? I added those to my work-out (1 day/week) and that helped me improve my 5K time greatly - and I no longer need to do a warm-up run (a few striders still help). I added the interval runs as part of my 1/2 marathon training so I did not realize how much of an impact it would have but my first…

I read your message a little too late. I did go for a very easy 4 mile run yesterday and I was exhausted afterwards. and my nausea seemed to get worse. I am going to take today off and go for a very easy short run or walk tomorrow. Anything I should eat/take the day of the race? I was going to take immodium anyway.

MPW? *** 20-30 mpw What's your favorite distance? *** Races: 10 miles and half-marathon Brand of shoes? *** Saucony Indoor or outdoors? *** Indoors Nov-Feb (March this year b/c it is cold); mix of indoors and outdoors during the rest of the year Music or no music? *** For long training runs and races: yes Most hated run?…

I don't think 1 day will ruin all of your hard work. But I do think "regular" 1 days will diminish your results. When I first joined MFP, I tracked during the week and then ate "normally" on the weekend. My official weigh-in day was Monday (day I recorded my weight), but I weighed myself other days. After a few weeks I…

I only have the dates for my races this spring. I would like to add 5Ks in June, Octoboer, November and at least 1 half-marathon in the fall. 3/23 - Washingtown Twp. 5K 4/7 - Atlantic City, Half-Marathon 4/13 - All Speak 5K 5/4 - Broad Street Run 5/19 - Victorious 5K

Thanks! I was thinking that recovery meant rest so I'm very happy to hear that it can be an active recovery.

How often are you running? What distances on each day? How do you feel with your current running schedule -do you feel like you could comfortably do more or do you feel like you are pushing yourself hard? I am signed up for the BSR too. I haven't run it in 6 years, but I did run it 5 times before. I still have some of the…

I am going to check my HR with my runs this week. I haven't done it since I first started running last year and before I lost the weight so I am not sure what my ranges are. Today was my 6 mile, easy run and my heart rate was 132-151 - I think that is right where it should be. I did modify my cycles so that my maximum pace…

I do my sprint workout on Monday - after 2 days of rest. My long run is the last day of the week so I know that I am not tired for the sprint. I will check my HR when I do the easy runs. My problem is that it takes more of an effort on my part to do my long runs at a slower pace - or at least it feels that way. Maybe if I…

I am planning to. I have tried to sign up for a couple of longer races this year and so far they have been booked (BSR) or there was a last minute family emergency and I could not participate. I am looking forward to the Philly half in Sept.

You look great! I notice a big difference in your stomach area and arms. I did not take a before pic - I did not want any reminder of where I was. Of course, now that I am making progress and feeling good about it, I wish I did.
-
Thanks! It's been years since I ran a race so long and I'm nervous about pushing it too much.

I'm from south jersey too!

Congratulations! I have a 26 month old son and 8 month old B/G twins so I know how you feel. Before I got pregnant with my first, I gained almost 15 lbs. After I had him, I bf, lost the pregnancy weight (not what I gained before I got pg), and then gained 10 lbs back when I returned to work. When I got pg with the twins I…

1. How often do you run? 4-5 days 2. How far do you go daily? I am training for a half marathon so every other week I increase my long run by 1 mile. This past week, I ran 18 miles. 3. What pace do you keep? Overall, 10.2 minute miles. I start off with a 12 minute warm-up mile and gradually increase my speed. 4. Do you…

I am a pear, but 3 kids in 3 years has made me a pear with a belly. I have no advice - I'm still working on it myself. My understanding is that although you can't "spot reduce" you can "spot add" when it comes to muscle and that cardio will get the fat off. So, if you have developed muscle underneath, that is what will…

I am adding some sort of short toning/strength workout to my routine. I am training for a half-marathon so I am adding more cardio every week. As a result, B/c of lack of time, I have been neglecting the toning/strength-training for the last 6 weeks+. I am hoping that if I bring it back it will help give me the little push…

Hi Everyone I'm Shannon from southern NJ. I ran in high school and started up again when I graduated college and then on and off for 7 years. When I was 31 I decided to train for a 10 mile race. I consistently ran for 4 years until I got pg. B/c of issues, I had to stop running. And then I got pg soon after my oldest was…

Ditto to what everyone else said. Also, on what type of surface are you running? If possible, run on a surface that has a little give - treadmill, dirt, track; not concrete. I had shin splints years ago and I don't think running on concrete caused the shin splints, but while I was getting over them, my coach recommended…
