  • what a sour grape of a person! My thoughts are: - you already communicated your valid point and she understands it, she's choosing to be spiteful. Any further communication will be fruitless. - It stinks, because a child is at risk, but unfortunately I dont think there is anything more you can actually do other than keep…
  • Keep it simple: fresh lemon juice makes all steamed veg sparkle and burst with deliciousness! Perhaps serve with a little feta cheese :)
  • *Bump* I'm a novice nutrition nerd, and I think Dr. Fuhrman's philosophy is sound: you really can't go wrong by promoting greens and plant-based food. While i've had some measure of success with mfp, I'm concerned that i'm allowing myself to gorge on food that is tasty but not nutritious- like the whole pizza i wolfed down…
  • Easy, fun mystery that is better than your average mysteries are the: No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency It is set in Botswana; the characters are charming and often hilarious. It's just fantastic, enjoyable, and good travel-on the go series. Also, if you're into travelling: 127 Hrs (yes, the dude who cut off his arm); and…
  • Hand-Maid's Tale- Margaret Atwood - What would happen if the US became a fundamentalist state? Written in the 80's, scarily relevant today.
  • Annoying NSV: I wear arm-bands when cycling in the winter: no matter what i do, my armbands end up bunched up at my wrists. Yay for only warm wrists in the name of weight loss! Also i've lost the soundtrack of my corduroys grating when i walk. Oh, wait, that makes me feel pretty flipping awesome!
  • first off, after reading a few of these posts from parents: i don't know how you do it, nevermind find the time to fit in exercise, but mad props to you all. For me, my natural tendency is to lie in bed till the latest possible moment and race to work on my bike- so i build at least some exercise into my day, though, not…

(code name, shydal, if you want to connect up there too) I had wanted to do the dc triathlon (June), but am leaning more towards the september nation's tri - less crunch, more support since i…

  • 5' 4.5" HW:180 --> I lost this weight by choosing a vegetarian diet and using a bike to commute/around the city SW: 161 --> I bought a vitamix and became addicted. Began MFP and started tracking cals for the first time in my life. <3 MFP CW: 147 --> Steadily losing weight. Eating simply and mindfully-reducing cheese and…
  • I second the recommendation for beans on a salad- personally, I love making black beans for dinner and then throwing a half a cup or so on a bed of spinach.... it definitely redefines a salad. I also use sunflower seeds (non-salted)
  • I took a food safety course and say: Definitely wouldn't eat it. the moisture in the chicken will be a play-ground for lovely little bacteria. Bleh.
  • I prefer to reduce animal products in my diet, and use two vegan products: 1. In my fresh fruit shakes, i use Manitoba Harvest Vanilla Hemp 2. as a meal replacer/quick boost of vitamins and micronutrients, i use Vega vanilla chai health optimizer-- which is formulated by vegan athlete Brendan Brazier. I do not mix this…
