I understand the cost being a factor. I didn't want to join a gym because of the signup fees and contracts, especially because I hate using weight machines, treadmills, etc. I need a class to keep me motivated and going and people around me to work with. That's why I finally found a school that was worth the $75 a month!…

He's not a kickboxer. Ask your doctor if it's smart to do kickboxing off a DVD without a person instructing you and checking your movements in person. No need to get nasty on a message board, you'll make a fool of yourself. Tae Bo is not kickboxing. It's a workout DVD.

Punching and kicking at the air will do nothing but aggravate your joints and hurt your body in the long run. Tae Bo and any cardio kickboxing is not really kickboxing and you will hyper-extend your arms and legs. Find a local martial arts place that teaches this and you won't be sorry! It's the most amazing workout ever…

Crystal Lake, although that's NW.

Hi - I'm Holly and I live in the NW suburbs (originally from the NW side of the city). I'm 29, 5'5" and today, 220 pounds. I want (need!) to be down to 180 at my wedding in November to not feel totally ****ty about myself when I see the photos. My goal would be 150 I guess or lower, but I'm really just focused on the…

Thank you. The first 15 were all in a month and a half, actually. It's taken double that to get the next 5! But you're right, 20 is something to be happy about. I did just order my wedding dress one size smaller than I tried on in December.

How much more did you eat? On your exercise days or non-exercise days? I'm willing to try even though it IS scary, I don't want to gain more or give myself some excuse to eat badly more often.

That's only a two week difference, and we are going for the same goal amount pretty much! I'm going to friend you if that's okay, we can help motivate each other. I am really happy to hear that I am not alone - everyone gives different advice but the main key I guess is that we need to keep at it. No matter what, we ARE…

Yes, exactly this post! I am ready to cry each morning when the scale doesn't move down, or worse goes up. I eat 1400 calories a day (sometimes less) and I kickbox train three times a week, sometimes four, which burns about 1000 an hour. It makes no sense that this morning I weighed a pound more than yesterday even though…

Any more feedback, please? I don't think my fat intake is too high to rebuff the calorie counting...I've never experienced this before, I've always been able to lose when I count calories in the past.

Thank you. I am considered extremely overweight, right now I'm at 227 and I'm only 5'5". My end goal is 150. So I don't think two a week is overkill...but I appreciate the note. On days I work out (Monday through Thursday, I mix up which classes I attend) I do end up snacking more before class to get some protein in, so…

Exercising makes me feel soooo happy. I've been in kickboxing since July and just recently got invited to the advanced class, where jiujitsu students train. I go home in a good mood and I feel happy knowing what I'm capable of now that i wasn't before starting. I have a lot of issues with anxiety and depression too, and it…

Hello! I just joined this site today but had been using another similar before. My wedding is November 3, 2012 so exactly 10 months away. I'm looking to lose a lot more weight than I can by then, but if I can drop 60 by then I'll be happy. So far I've got 5.6 down. I'm sticking to 1500 calories a day but will drop that a…
