The very first week thatI logged was a real eye-opener! I considered myself a reasonably healthy-eating gal, I was disabused of that notion pretty quickly haha! Logging has become everything for me. The item that shocked me the most when I first logged was my daily morning pack of pop-tarts: holy moly! 200 cal sugar bomb,…

I don't have a goal outfit, but the day I can wear a full outfit from the 'regular' section instead of the 'plus' section, my squee will be heard around the world :)

I'm a big-time emotional eater. For me it's evolved over a lifetime into what I understand now as a form of self-harm. I LOVE food, and I use it to punish myself. I eat until I am in real physical pain. How stupid, how sad. I'm trying my best these days to distract myself with other activities; cleaning, walking outside,…

Agreed, I don't personally go in for the whole 'cheat meal' thing. If I know I'm going out for dinner and I want to have say a bacon cheeseburger instead of grilled chicken breast, I calculate the difference and work towards bridging the caloric gap. Completely do-able for my purposes. :)

If I want to eat more, I move my body more to 'earn' the calories to cover it. Log everything, don't go at it with the 'cheat' mentality. This is your life now, so you're not setting out to cheat anyone <3 least of all yourselves. I also agree that looking at your weekly calories as a trend is helpful. If I go over on one…

I was experiencing debilitating neck, shoulder, and lower back pain, swollen ankles and hands. I snored when I slept and woke up every morning with a headache. I tried chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture, massage, medication, and went for an MRI to look for the source. Other than the fact that I was obese, there was no…

Other people smacking food around in their mouths, the sound of someone licking something. When my husband eats ice cream he smacks his lips and licks his spoon completely clean in between each bite. It makes me want to push him down 2 flights of stairs. I have to run away from anyone whose doing this before I start to…

Yessss everyday while unsupervised after school, I would take a cup of powdered sugar, a dollop of margarine and a handful of chocolate chips- put that into the microwave and then dip cookies into the melty goodness....

baked an entire bag of tater tots until crispy, covered them with 2 sticks of melted butter and a brick of sharp cheddar and put back into the oven until melted. Garnished this masterpiece with 16 oz of full fat sour cream, and a jar of black bean and corn salsa. Ate half of it for supper and finished the other half as a…

I always have at least three books going so bear with me :) I am just finishing up 'Light in August' by William Faulkner, which I have found to be a somewhat challenging, yet strangely captivating read. It's a hard, true, and ugly look at this period in history and just leaves me awed how such elegant prose that could fill…

not to mention that when your liver fails and drives your ammonia levels up high enough to be put in hospital, you are retaining ungodly amounts of fluid. Once treatment begins, the fluid leaves :)

This is what killed my father-in-law, taking him away from his two boys, four grandchildren and the rest of his family, when he was only 63 years old. I fervently hope that you are able to keep this change in your life, and that you have the everyday support you will need to carry on with your healthy lifestyle. Your…

I was a very active and fit child, once I entered my teenage years I became markedly less active. I noticed that I started to put on weight when I was about 15 and started a classic binge/diet cycle that has carried me to where I am today. That, coupled with a mostly inactive lifestyle and a general permissive attitude…

I get it, it's a psychological battle, I have the same issue. I purposefully close my diary for the day, take a shower, brush up, grab a book and head for bed on these days. I get as far from the kitchen as possible. Lot's of helpful tips here already, hopefully some of them will work for you :)
