People use this site for all kinds of reasons. There's no one right way to MFP. Just clarify your intentions, and people will generally respect that. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/ihad/view/what-is-mfp-673617

I agree indicators of support would help with the abuse of the abuse flags. I'm less inclined to make posts disappear. I think sunlight is the best disinfectant - allowing bad ideas to hide in the darkness just lets them fester like mildew. Most important is allowng enough vigorous debate where myths and misconceptions can…

Love the OP. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of rep/positive flagging system, to give credit to people who regularly add a lot of value.

I would not thank someone for flagging a post that does not violate any community standards. Flagged posts require review by mods, who have serious issues to address, including severe anorexia, threats of suicide, actual aggressive, persistent abuse, and rampant use of Jennifer Lawrence gifs. Posts should not be flagged…

Do you realize that of the millions and millions of users on this site, Sara has easily shared and explained more reputable scientific studies than ANYONE else, and quite possibly EVERYONE else combined? That fact may also undermine your reply to some extent.

This shows that breakfast is important for diabetics and is associated in some studies with positive health outcomes, but as you say, there is no causation with kickstarting your metabolism. Eat breakfast if it helps you and your routine. It doesn't kick start your metabolism.

OMG! Twelve! I've had twelve of these! TODAY! This is even worse than bears...

I'm a big fan of the habits book. You really can deliberately build new habits that overpower old ones. The research is fascinating. A couple blogs I wrote on the book: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/ihad/view/the-power-of-habit-part-1-why-habits-matter-688130

The issue is, the link under their avatar, next to their forum posts, IS BROKEN. This has been broken for a number of months, since the last major upgrades. You need to search on their user name on the find members page, then click through to their profile page where you can friend them.

This guy, is absolutely correct.

Unless you have some special, unknown reason, you should probably consider the protein goal as a MINIMUM, not a cap.

Just remember, MFP doesn't just "give" you a calorie goal. It is based on how aggressively you select your weight loss goal. The choice is yours. Two pounds a week is a reasonable goal for someone with a lot to lose, less so for someone who doesn't have a lot to lose.

These are excellent points.

I think a useful practice would be for a mentor to set a limit on the number of mentees they will take on at a time, and then to move them to a separate list when they reach their max, so people do not seek them out after reaching capacity.

There is currently a bug that clicking on the names under the pictures causes issues. Clicking on the links on page 1 of this thread seems to work, as does searching on their name in the "Find Member" section in the top menu.

It is important to have context like this. For a while, they were really overusing the term bullying at my kids' school, and people were crying "bully" about everything. Over time, they've gotten better at making meaningful distinctions like this. If everything is bullying, nothing is.
