  • My mom gave me the best advice EVER when I was about 12. "When you get married, you don't just marry the man, you marry their family." My DHs mom and his step dad are AWESOME. Like couldn't ask for better in laws. Hell, they are paying for all of us to go on a CRUISE together! My DHs dad and step mom are really great…
  • Yep-if you are craving it, put it into your cals and eat it. Just use portion control. Having a craving for potato chips is NOT license to eat a whole 1 lb bag of them!
  • Put 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts in a crock pot, sprinkle with taco seasoning. Cook on high 4 hours, low for 6 hours. Shred chicken. Put it in a tortilla or taco shell. Or use ground turkey in place of beef. Or eat beef and don't eat 24 of them. Or do a taco salad instead. For dressing-sour cream and salsa all mixed…
  • Eating to gain muscle and lose body fat. It doesn't really work that way. In a calorie defecit, you lose weight, which happens from losing fat AND lean muscle. You can MINIMIZE the amount of muscle lost by eating high protein and lifting to make sure your body knows it NEEDS the muscle mass it has. Just so you are aware,…
  • If you have less than 20-30 lbs to lose, you should be losing at 1-.5 lbs per week, NOT 2 lbs per week. It's great you were able to drop weight so fast, but once you get into the healthy ranges, weight loss should be at a slower pace. If you change this, you should be good to go and will get more calories alloted.
  • I had similar pain on my right foot after my 1/2 marathon. I was stupid and kept using it. FInally decided that it was take a week off all activity or I was facing a permanent or more serious injury. I took a week off(I still walked my girls to school and did grocery shopping, but no gym time for a week). I iced multiple…
  • For breakfast, oatmeal with milk, dried or fresh fruit and nuts Green Monster-spinach(sounds gross, but you cannot taste it), peanut butter, whole milk in your case, chocolate syrup, banana, ice all blended into a smoothie Lunch-Whole grain bread, meat(meatballs, roast beef, turkey, whatever), cheese and veggies with a…
  • #1-Going on a cruise in April for my 10 year anniversary. #2-My daughter telling me I had a big butt and looked like I had a baby in my belly all in the same week. #3-I realized I have been the same weight/shape since having my oldest daughter 7 years ago. I am no longer using my kids as an excuse. They are both in school…
  • 4000 calories seems REALLY high if you are currently at 1900, unless you are in a deficit to lose 2 lbs a week? You need a calorie SURPLUS to build muscle adequately. You need a calorie DEFICIT to lose fat. Most important thing is to be sure you are taking in adequate PROTEIN to fuel the building of muscle. So, you are…
  • I try to eat them that day as I know my body NEEDS them to refuel. On occasion I'll "bank" them in the back of my mind if I'm under my cals one day. Then, I'll know over the weekend a glass of wine or margarita won't kill me;-)
  • I bought pastuerized egg whites and have thought about doing this. When I had tendonitis, I was prescribed raw eggs in smoothies by my Dr. in addition to weight lifting.
  • I loved wearing midriff bearing tops in college. First of all, I lived in AZ, so it was damn HOT. Second, I had a tight stomach, so why shouldn't I show it off? I had no boobs, so it wasn't like showing cleavage was an option!LOL Self respect has nothing to do with clothing. From the people I've known, it is the people…
  • I talk to my girls a lot about healthy choices. I have them involved in meal planning, especially their school lunches. I ask them what they want and then have them build a healthy lunch around that. So "I want turkey." "OK-what fruit and veggies do you want? Do you want crackers or bread with it?" I also have taught them…
  • Congrats! All 4 of you ladies are beautiful!
  • Beagle and a lab/chow mix. The mutt is my lover boy. Sweetest dog EVER. The beagle, pain in my butt, but I still love her. More personality than any other dog I've known, that is for sure.
  • Are we talking winning 1 million dollars or a mega millions that is like 200 million? For 1 million, no, I wouldn't spend it on those people. If I won like 200 million, I'd have a damn entourage complete with trainer, chef, housekeeper and massage therapist.
  • Just keep on keeping on! I lose fist in my arms and belly, but my butt and legs do NOT budge. I wish we got to have a checklist to send to our brains for where we wanted it to come from.
  • Be sure you are icing and take some Advil or the like for swelling. Get some really good stretching in several times a day. I'd do the elliptical or bike if you are at a gym.
  • Have you rested it or are you continuing to run 7 months on an injury? Try taking a week or 2 off running and icing it several times a day. If it doesn't resolve itself after that, consult your Dr.
  • Oh-and a note on the TMJ pain. You may want to consult of all people a chiropractor. My jaw locked up on me 2 days before my wedding of all times. I was in Hawaii and I looked up a chiro and he did these awesome(yet quite painful) massages inside my mouth that helped fix me up. Hope you feel better soon!
  • coconut oil! It isn't cheap, but it is a healthy fat that tastes yummy in smoothies. Full fat cottage cheese and yogurt. Mashed potatoes with sour cream and butter.
  • I'd start by just entering the item and see what pops up. As an FYI, usually things like grilled fish are your best bets. Ask for dressing on the side of salads and you can get pretty close to guessing how many tablespoons you put on yourself(at least I know i'm fairly accurate, but i've been cooking all my life, so...) If…
  • I'd start with something bland like crackers or jello or toast. When I'm sick, I eat whatever tastes good. Getting BETTER takes precedence over calories. Hope you feel better soon. I just got over a cold.
  • Holy cow! What a wonderful transformation!
  • Where is the LIKE button? I'm really hoping by the start of the new year that I HAVE TO buy new jeans as well. I've had the same pair for 7 years. I bought them about a month after my oldest daughter was born.
  • Good for you!
  • If you have to ask a bunch of total strangers if you should do it or not, then you are not 100% committed to it, so, no. Please do NOT make a permanent(well, they can be taken out, but...)surgical change for your body. If I were to do it, I'd do it while I was young and had no husband/kids that I'd be leaving behind if the…
  • I didn't read all of them, but my most important one after good shoes for YOU: NEVER take in anything during a race that you haven't trained with. If you haven't trained with gatorade, don't take it at the water stop just because it is there.
  • I know i look like crap at the gym. I am not there to impress anyone but myself with my awesomeness of upping my weight on my lifts and feeling inside like I'm really pushing my hardest and giving it my all. If someone wants to stare at my sweaty *kitten*, armpits and my bangs matted to my sweat-ridden forehead, that is…
  • If you are doing squats and lunges, you should NOT be in running shoes while doing them! You should be in shoes that allow your feet to support the weight of your body as well as any additional weight you are using. Running shoes are built to sustain shock from your feet hitting solid ground and are too "bouncy" to be…
