Stevia is all natural and has zero calories. The FDA won't approve it because it is the most logical choice, but you can find it as a "nutritional supplement" in the vitamin section.

I can't believe how cold it is here already. I'm not one to hop on the bike when it is 30 degrees outside when I wake up! But I gave it a few hours and bundled up good. Did a loop up in the Park for 27.5 mi today. And last Tues I did a section of it for 18.4 mi. I am hoping it warms up so I can do one of the canyons for…

I bought a road bike last night!! Pretty sweet deal on a practically brand new entry level bike. Came with clip-in pedals, ergonomic seat and shoes for about $300 less than retail. I'm super excited to get a ride in tomorrow!

Holy cow! You are looking awesome these days. Keep it up girl!!:drinker:

Tami, YOU are the inspiration! You rock!

Ha! Not easy at first with the lower calories, but it got better over time. And I really enjoyed working out. Now I get a little cranky if I can't get a good workout in every other day or so! I would have never believed it considering how much time I used to spend in front of the tv! Just curious, what were you doing all…

I started at 1200 cals like most people and then bumped it up to 1450, 1650 and now probably 1800 or 1900 to maintain. I just started eating more, and it was great!! I would have the entire hardboiled egg instead of just egg whites. I had regular cheese on my salad instead of fat free feta, or I would add black beans or…

I am happy to report that in the 9-10 months that I have been using MFP I have lost 43 lbs and 15 inches! I hit my goal weight (actually surpassed it by 1 lb) yesterday. Trust me, this site works wonders! Unfortunately I don't have any good before pictures, but my profile picture shows pants that fit me when I started. I…

When I wear my HRM it's pretty easy to adjust my calorie burn, because my normal metabolic rate is right around 60 cals per hour normally burned. So for 9 hours I subracted 540 calories from the 2740 the HRM said I had burned and that is where the 2200 came from.
-
Wow, a 700 calorie bagel! Impressive! I wore my HRM and I burned about 2200 after subtracting my normal burn. That was in 9 hours though. Pretty long day. I love it because I can eat a big breakfast, lots of munchies and then have pizza and beer afterwards!!

Today we went on a 16 mile trip up to the top of Static Peak and back. It was a perfect day with shade and clouds most of the time. Not too many people and no bears (but there was poop). No more hiking until the holiday weekend. Anyone have big trips for the weekend?

That's great! Congratulations!! I know how excited I was when I fit into a size 8 as well. And good job on losing more "surface area"!

The weather couldn't have been better for our backpacking trip this weekend! We already had plans on Sat night so we just did a real easy 7 mile loop with friends that morning to stretch our legs. Sunday we went up Granite Canyon (which is the southern most canyon in Grand Teton National Park), and our plan was to go over…

I have also been really lazy about drinking enough water except when I am hiking and have to pee every 30 minutes! I also haven't logged my food in 2 weeks. It's not because I'm lazy but because I am doing an experiment. I know I won't be logging food for the rest of my life (hope not!), so I thought I would see what…

I wear myself out so much hiking on the weekends that I don't exercise as much during the week! Last weekend we did a 5 mile hike UP (key word UP) to several beautiful lakes in the Park. Surprise and Ampitheater Lakes near some big peaks. It was a great day and the bugs were pretty nonexistant. This weekend we are looking…

I went backpacking for 3 days this weekend for my birthday. I weighed myself before putting my pack on. I was 145. Then I weighed myself with my big pack full of gear. I was 168. But get this... I used to weigh 182! .... Even with a big pack on, I still weighed almost 15 lbs less than I used to!! How did I ever manage to…

Better late than never, let's post all our fun hiking trips for the month! Even if it is only a few miles! And post pictures if you know how (I can't figure it out) - help me if you can. Last Friday I went on my small hike up the local ski hill (Snow King). It is 1.8 miles with about 1600 ft of elevation gain, so it is…

If you are referring to the mountains on my weight ticker, those are here in Wyoming about 15 minutes from my house. The Teton Range. Very steep and jagged. Colorado has wider mts and more of them. All mts are pretty in my view! In fact we are going backpacking all weekend for my birthday. Should be fun!

I must be feeling computer challenged lately because I couldn't post my picture, so I just changed my profile picture instead.:ohwell:

I would move back to Colorado in a heartbeat! Luckily my family still lives there so I visit. Denver isn't the same as it used to be, but still a good city. Lots of sports, arts, theatre, music. About 2 hrs from great skiing and hiking. It's worth a trip at least. Tell my grandma hi!!
-
I usually go with my fiance on long day hikes, or weekend trips. During the week I hike the local ski hill by myself. It is only 1.8 miles, but it gains about 1600 ft so it is steep and I burn about 400 cals. I'm working on my time - I have gotten it down from 50 minutes to 38. Then I take the chair lift down so my knees…

I say that we start an MFP Hiking Club for the rest of the summer! I can only do big hikes on the weekend, but hike up the local ski hill during the week a few times. If no one else does, I will start a post later today or tomorrow... I would love to see others pictures from their hikes!
-
AJCM you are looking hot lady!!! My birthday happens to be Aug 4th, so I know you will hit your goal then! I continue to eat more than before and am still losing!:drinker: Plus, I just get to eat more... As of this morning I am within about 1.5 - 2 lbs from my original goal! I am really just focusing on…

You look great Lauren! How did you post those pictures? I tried to copy and paste and it didn't work...
-
I have the day off - :drinker: And it is cool outside for a change - :drinker: So I am going to hike the local ski hill with some running spurts mixed in. Really gets the heart going to run up such a steep trail. Then I will probably hit the gym for some weights. Don't want to overdo it because we have a kickball game…

So far so good. I have upped my calories the last few days and I am LOSING! Yay! I officially hit the 40lbs gone mark today. My finance laughs when I tell him that all I do while working out is think about how hot I will look for our beach wedding in my sundress and bikini! Off to the gym to daydream....
-
Congrats! With this site you should be able to achieve your goal of 25 lbs by January with no problem. I lost 40 lbs in about 7 months using MFP and now I am down to the last few lbs. Just focusing on toning up for my wedding on April 25, 2009. Have fun no matter what! Your life is going to get even better now!:drinker:
-
It seems like I am having the same problem as many on here. I have been between 143-145 for about 3 months now. For 5'8" with an athletic frame that's not bad, but I'm being a perfectionist and want to hit my goal of 140! My only comfort is that I'm still slowly losing measurement wise. I am going to try eating more and…

I had music practice last night so I only got a very short 20 min run in beforehand. I can't believe that I would ever think 20 min was too short!! :noway: Tonight I have jazz band, but will hit the gym before. Probably do the elliptical and weights instead. My hip starts to hurt a bit after several consecutive days of…
