Homemade Bread vs Store Bought
Does anyone else make their own bread instead of buying at the store? I have noticed that the whole wheat bread on this site has a lot of sodium and we barely put any in our homemade bread. I know our bread is so much healthier but don't have the nutrition info.... Thanks!

Any Peace Corps folks out there?
Since yesterday was the 50th anniversary of Peace Corps (thanks JFK!) I thought I would see if there are any RPCV's on this site, or parents with kids serving. I lived in Zambia, Southern Africa for 3 years (1999-2002) doing rural fish farming and other odd projects (small animal husbandry, tree nurseries, AIDS/HIV,…

Two Years and going STRONG!!
Yesterday marked the two year anniversary of my joining this site and changing my lifestyle. I am thrilled to report that things continue to go well. I consistently stay right around the 40 lbs lost mark (aside from vacations when I thoroughly enjoy myself :drinker: ) I had a fantastic beach wedding in April and loved…

Dieting stress and high blood pressure
I had my blood pressure checked yesterday and it was higher than normal. Not quite considered high, but not in the normal range either. I have never had a problem with high blood pressure before. I am usually a very laid back low stress kind of person that eats mimimal salt. Could the extra stress lately of trying to lose…

I HIT MY GOAL! Lessons learned...
I am happy to report that in the 9-10 months that I have been using MFP I have lost 43 lbs and 15 inches! I hit my goal weight (actually surpassed it by 1 lb) yesterday. Trust me, this site works wonders! Unfortunately I don't have any good before pictures, but my profile picture shows pants that fit me when I started. I…

MFP Hiking Club - August
Better late than never, let's post all our fun hiking trips for the month! Even if it is only a few miles! And post pictures if you know how (I can't figure it out) - help me if you can. Last Friday I went on my small hike up the local ski hill (Snow King). It is 1.8 miles with about 1600 ft of elevation gain, so it is…

Want to hear something CRAZY??
I went backpacking for 3 days this weekend for my birthday. I weighed myself before putting my pack on. I was 145. Then I weighed myself with my big pack full of gear. I was 168. But get this... I used to weigh 182! .... Even with a big pack on, I still weighed almost 15 lbs less than I used to!! How did I ever manage to…

JULY CHALLENGE (june 23-29)
Well, I think it's just down to 3-4 of us but hang in there! We are close! I had a great week. Hiked up the steep local ski hill 3x last week and 1x so far this week. I'm only getting about 350 cals out of it now that I am in shape, but it's nice to be outside (and I can take the lift down to appease my knees). I am just…

JULY GOAL CHALLENGE (May 19-25)
Kistinbee said she was super busy last week, so I thought I would start this week's post. However, I did not weigh in this morning because I went to a Chili-Cook Off yesterday and probably consumed a weeks worth of salt. I will check in with the weight tomorrow. On a good note, I am still losing inches (well, 1/4…

Health Magazines
My boyfriend and I are both interested in subscribing to health/fitness magazines. I have had Self in the past and it was ok, but I would prefer to try something new. I'm thinking about Women's Health. Does anyone have opinions about it? Also, for you men, is Men's Health good, or is there a better one? My bf is already in…

Way too weird...
So I weighed in this morning and the scale read 150 lbs. Very exciting since that means I have officially lost over 30 lbs!! I then received a letter in the mail telling me that my drivers license will expire soon and I can either do it by mail or have a new picture taken at their office. Of course I pulled out my license…

JULY GOAL CHALLENGE (March 24-30)
Happy Easter Monday everyone! I think Kistinbee is still on vacation so I will start up this weeks post for her. I had several large dinners that I'm still not sure what the calorie content was, and I went out twice. BUT I also worked out bigtime and didn't take any days off. So I ended up with a very small loss which is…

National President's Fitness Challenge starts soon!
If anyone is interested, there is a nationwide fitness challenge that begins on March 20 and goes until May 15, 2008. It is free and for all ages. You can choose your activity level and make goals from there. If you are really active you can "compete" with others of the same level. It's just one more way to motivate…

Cooking on Valentines Day??
Is anyone else staying home and cooking a nice meal for Valentines Day instead of going out? Just wondering what others are making... My boyfriend and I take turns every year cooking what the other person requests. This is my year to cook but he is being supportive so I get to pick the meal to make sure it is healthy. He…

I look sexier!!
I've been at this site for about two months and lost 15+ lbs. I was mostly doing cardio with a little strength training on the side. Because I was continually losing weight every week I wasn't bothering with measurements on a regular basis even though I noticed my pants were just a little bit looser. Well, this morning as…

New but hopeful!
Hi everyone. My name is Liz. I am 32, and I have gained about 50 lbs since college. I was actually too skinny then, but I need to lose about 35 lbs for my height. I live in a very outdoorsy mountain town where a lot of people are considered extreme athletes and look fantastic. It is hard to be around sometimes. I have…
