  • Ha! Laughing because I have a friend that rode one just like yours for several years. I listened to him cuss that thing many times for the same reasons. Understand what your saying, too, I have a '99 Cagiva Gran Canyon that's just covered up with weird.
  • "Cleaned out most of the stable over the last couple of years but couldn't part with these:" Nice pair, Zosimah. Cool Dakar, I love to see bikes that work for a living!
  • Winter is not giving up its grip easily around here, so I had to bag my ridng plans for last weekend(decided that the sleet in the forecast wasn't a good thing to ignore, so that was that) But, now gettin' out a little, riding to the gym, other local stuff, and with 70 degrees today and clouds going away, will ride to work…

  • Yeah, me too . I got a family thing to attend in Ga., so with weather and temps looking ok, I planned to go by bike. Yesterday, in 75 degree sunshine, I got it prepped to leave next Thursday afternoon, and return home Sunday. Weather forecast is now going bad on me. Depending on how bad, I may have to bag that plan.…

  • Chattanooga.
  • Me too. <= First bike at 18, and had one ever since, so that's about 43 years of riding so far. I have a couple others in the garage, but main ride is a 2011 1200s Ducati Multistrada.
  • Thats OK, JM, I've been known to jump on the Skyway and sneak into NC myself.

  • I'm in the Chattanooga area, and yes we do have lots of "day trip" options!

  • Yep, welcome to the group. Being in East Tn, I'm also not as locked down by weather as others but, still looking for the oppurtunity to ride regularly again. Think everybody here is feeling the same way right about now ; itching to get out, making upgrades to their bikes, planning trips. Just ordered a different…

  • I can't complain. Jan/Feb. for us is generally wet and cold, but snow is infrequent. We'll get a 50-55 degree day every so often, so I do get out some. We should be seeing temps in the 60's late in March, so getting close .
  • Chattanooga.
  • Well, since its a vintage thing, I thought about throwing the Norton on a trailer, driving out there, and just riding it around, but then I don't get to ride much which isn't what I wanted. Besides me having a trailer at a huge swap meet could be a real bad thing !! Soo, decided to ride, will be on my 2011 Ducati…

  • Easy fix. 2 motorcycles.
  • It's really about done. It now runs, shifts and goes pretty well, but still needs some fine tuning on it's carburation. Brakes are rebuilt but still a little sketchy, so I have to sort that out before its safely streetable. Can't recall on the Sporty's, but this one is right side shift AND has a reversed shift pattern so,…
  • Vintage bikes can be a pain to keep alive and well, but It'd be nice to save that early Ironhead. A sportster project of some sort will be my next once the Norton is done. Plus, kicking on 900cc of stubborn vintage Sporty will be good for some additional cardio every now and then!
  • One of these days ,I'm gonna head that way. Been wanting to do a western loop for a long time, just never had the right bike or enough days to string together to do it. I do now. Big bike events don't interest me but riding in mountains I've never seen before does! Lots of time on the slab for me to get there, but,…
  • 58 degrees and sunshine Saturday. Bike Day! :glasses: :glasses:

  • Not me, but I have a Norton!
  • Congratulations on your progress. We all have similar goals and motivations. As one that has been fortunate enough to meet my "get back into the leathers/jacket/t-shirts" goals, keep it up, stick to the plan. Its a tremendous boost. Plus, you'll ride better, and enjoy it more!
  • Tomorrow in East Tn, we're expecting 70 degrees. Definite ride-to work day.
  • If it wasn't on a tender, the battery may be down, but it really hasn't been that long. Its been inside, you put in stabliizer so your SV should be fine. I'd crank it , let it run a bit, check lights, fluid levels, all switches, tires/pressures, etc. to insure it all works well and safely, clean it up nicely and put it on…

  • It will happen, just keep on keeping on. I'm wearing my old Vanson leathers for the first time in a decade, and it is a real motivator. Helps keep me on my plan.
  • Still bad weather but I did get the bikes out and let 'em run some. Supposed to have 40's maybe 50 degrees with no rain this weekend. Will certainly get out and ride somewhere!

  • East Tennessee is also locked into the 30's with lots of rain and a bit of snow, so the bike is pretty much staying on the tender. But I did put fresh rubber on it, and did some cleaning and maintenance, so I'm ready should we get a break in the weather.

  • 2011 Ducati Multi Strada 1200s 1999 Cagiva Gran Canyon 1973 Norton 850 Commando 1973 Bultaco Pursang Ticker pic was my trackday bike, which I sold when I got too chunky and out of shape to do trackdays. Regretted doing so ever since.
  • Very much a shooter here. Prefer pistols, specifically those built on a 1911 frame, and have several in the collection. Don't do a lot with long guns but do have a few, including a Ruger 10/22, Bushmaster AR in .223. and a nice old SKS paratrooper model.
  • Same here! I as getting ready for a long ride last weekend and started working my way through all the gear I've accumulated while my weight was going up trying to get something together that actually fit my now smaller self. I ended up digging out an old, stiff and dusty set of Vanson leathers out of the attic that I…
