This is a surprisingly filling pasta dish that not only makes a great meal but fantastic leftovers. My husband and I fight over them and he is NOT a big veggie person. ;) Cook bowtie, rigatoni, penne or similar pasta to preference. While cooking pasta, saute onion, garlic, mushroom, yellow squash and zucchini to desired…

Love, love, LOVE it!

The rule in my household is simple: If you do not like what I am preparing then you can prepare your own meal or not eat. I am not unreasonable. I am a vegetarian but my household is not and make an effort to put together menu items where I can easily incorporate meat for others and tofu for myself. But two or three days a…

Made me smile this morning! I loved it!

My first reward was a trip to Europe. Actually, the trip to Europe was really the motivation for getting started so the reward was actually enjoying my trip to Europe to the fullest. For this next goal? Disney World + Disney Cruise. I have avoided doing both because I didn't want the disapointment of not fitting on a ride…

Great post! I had a very similar problem and resolution. I had become so active that the deficit I was eating at to lose became a problem. I had to increase my daily calorie intake by 25% which scared the living daylights out of me after working so hard to lose 80 lbs but after a couple weeks, the weight started coming off…

I started out by reducing portions of foods I like and changing out some items for lower calorie versions. It cut the calories, but I was hungry and frustrated. When I started focusing on eating cleaner my portion sizes actually increased, calories went down and I was very satisfied and happy. I'm not perfect and still…

Personally, I would skip the sausage and just enjoy the whole egg with some veggies and a touch of cheese. Low sodium, high in protein, delicious and perfectly filling. Other alternatives: Greek yogurt and fruit. And someone else already suggested Quinoa and berries. Delicious and nutritious.

First off, there is too much good pizza available too close to me. Seriously. I have lived in this city for 15 years and I swear the one area of town I move to has become a pizza mecca. LOL! My favorite of the group is delicious and even better, I can order by the slice ANY WAY I WANT IT - which for me involves a little…

When I yo-yo'd I kept them. This time around I decided I wasn't going back to a size 24 and donated them, either to local organizations or to friends/family. I learned there was an entire network of professional apparel from size 16 to 20 being shifted between the women in my office. It was great because I went through a…

Making savory hand pies and a veggie tray for the 49ers game tomorrow. Working out and getting dogs ready for their grandparents to visit for the game!

I like variety so this is typically what I choose from: Almonds, walnuts, fresh berries, fresh banana, a TOUCH of brown sugar, non-fat milk, a little shredded coconut, cinnamon. Yesterday it was oats with 1/3 cup coconut milk (the dairy milk was bad, time to go grocery shopping), 10g almonds and 10g of brown sugar because…

Boring tonight. A sweet potato. I am still so freaking full from lunch and it is the only thing that sounds good.

Yeah. I'm fine with it. It's better than, "Well I tried to find bridesmaid dresses that would flatter my morbidly obese friends." Fluffy just sounds so much nicer. HA!

Absolutely stunning! You are amazing!!!

What whtlatina1214 said! And get yourself fitted for a good pair of running shoes and be sure to check out C25K. It's a great way to get into running and the progressive training will give you a chance to evaluate how it affects your asthma. Have fun with it!!!

I don't eat crap. I eat inventive and delicious food that I enjoy and that fuels my body. Seriously though, I like what I eat. I don't get this question often anymore (I used to, especially when I started eating a lot more tofu). Apparently the key is not actually saying I am watching what I eat but rather just doing it…

YES!!! I think that in some way I assumed that because I still had so much weight to lose, the rules of over training couldn't apply to ME. Everyone else, sure, but not me. It was a hard lesson learned. And thank you!

I did it as well. I loved it. It got me to my first 5K and has led to a pretty fun running addiction.

This article particularly hit home for me as I am starting a new phase of weight loss where I work at a much smaller deficit to fuel my love of running. When I first started running again last February I still had about 130 lbs to lose. I was consuming 1,200 calories plus eating a portion of my calories burned through…

Eggs, Greek Yogurt and protein smoothies. I make my own protein smoothies ranging from 200-300 calories. They make a great breakfast on the go or a recovery meal. Usually, I make them with banana, Greek Yogurt, non-fat cow milk, berries and spinach. High protein, delicious and keeps me going. When I need more calories due…

Bananas are GOOD. Enjoy them in moderation, just like everything else. As an aside, I am laughing so hard I am crying. The site advertisements around this topic? "5 Food you must not eat" featuring the lovely banana with an arrow pointing to it that says: "NEVER EAT." Dear lord, where do they come up with this stuff?!

For socks, I cannot live with my Thorlo Experias. They are comfortable in all weather and really help to prevent blisters. They are not inexpensive, however, but for me they are worth their weight in gold. As for shoes, everyone is different. Go to a store that specializes in running and have them fit you for a pair of…

I second leftovers! Fast, easy and usually delicious (or I wouldn't have made them for dinner!).

Trader Joe's Crunchy Almond Butter. DELISH!

Because even though those are only Duraflame logs, it reminds me that I can do anything.

Tracking my calorie consumption has been an essential part of the process. It helped me learn what I was eating and plan ahead.

I use high impact aerobics, but I would recommend using a heart rate monitor. It is more accurate and I can tell you from experience: my calories burned in Zumba can vary a lot. But have fun! It is a blast!!!!!
