  • Yes, please go see someone for help with this. Whether it could be related to the surgery or not, depression is one of those things where getting help and counseling is always the best option. Clinical depression is chemical and it won't go away without intervention. It could be completely related to the surgery since our…
  • That's pretty much it except the Tip Hero recipe calls for the bacon to be cooked prior to wrapping them in the muffin tin so they spend less time in the oven. I would REALLY recommend that you cook the bacon thoroughly, too (don't leave it a bit thinking that it will cook more in the oven). It was the one misstep that I…
  • Ooooh, yes. Me too. My core is in PITIFUL shape, enough so that I can't even hold a plank for a full minute. I definitely want to work on this as well. @ki4eld, surgery? Hope all is well.
  • It's a rather ambitious one since I'm sitting at a 27 right now, but I'd like to get my BMI down to 25 by the end of the month. I also want to pick my next 5K and start training to do a 10K by this time next year (if not sooner). Try to run at least 2 1/2 miles each time I touch a treadmill.
  • My gallbladder was removed several years ago, so it's not that. And no in pregnancy -they ran a test on me just to be sure. But thank everyone for all of the advice. I definitely have some things to keep an eye on now.
  • Thanks, I will. I first went to see our onsite clinic and the PA was concerned exactly about that, which is why she sent me to the ER. I haven't had any flare-ups since it initially happened, but I will definitely get my doctor to run me through the paces because I don't want that EVER to come back. What fixed yours, if…
  • I'm an in-betweener. I log fairly consistently while I'm at work, where I eat breakfast and lunch, but dinner is spotty depending on how much time I have at night after helping kiddo with homework, getting him bathed and in bed. I tend to document it all the next morning at work.
  • Good luck! We're here waiting for you on the other side.
  • Holy cow, that looks good. Which was your favorite?
  • Plateaus are extremely common with WLS. I've experienced four of them in the past almost-year. Usually, you'll continue to lose inches, though, and sometimes increasing your carb intake - smartly, not junk that will make you dump - can sometimes break them. But yes, they're a normal part of this process. Almost everyone…
  • Thanks! Kiddo has a huge imagination so we tend to run with it if at all possible. He really wanted to be a sharknado that year, but my attempts at tacking on a tornado cloud were, er, not exactly successful. This year, he made me dress as Princess Leia to his Darth Vader.
  • @blairmundy, I would think the Isopure would probably blend well taste-wise into sugar free pudding but I'd make sure you combine it well so you don't end up with clumps. I never would have dreamed to try it in ketchup, but I don't usually eat enough ketchup on anything that would have been enough to blend in. The vinegar…
  • PB2 is a great powder peanut butter blend. I use it in a ton of stuff where peanut butter would normally be my default. Also, back when I HAD to use the isopure to get in enough protein, I used to use it to make berry smoothies (raspberry, strawberry and blackberry freezer bag blends) and it was undetectable. I would also…
  • I was a big-time gulper of water before my surgery. I compromise now by taking a big sip but then I divide it into small swallows so that there's not a huge amount going down at one time. It seems to help. Also, @sinderstorm has it nailed for me when it comes to adding flavor. For whatever reason, it seems to help ease the…
  • Chicken in Lawry's marinade along with tomatoes, squash and zucchini noodles topped with Parmesan/Romano cheese blend. This one was a keeper. SO GOOD! I had been craving Italian food so badly and this took care of it.
  • Tons of noises post-op! It does get better, but it still pops up at weird times.
  • Completely normal - they also repaired mine during surgery. My surgeon said about 99 percent of the patients going in for gastric sleeve at their facility also get one corrected, enough so that they go ahead and have patients sign a release for it pre-op so they can repair it while they're in there.
  • Woooooo!!! Get it, @ki4eld!
  • Welcome! This is an awesome, supportive group. Glad to see you so excited to start your journey.
  • I am 11 months out and still make protein my first priority when eating. Honestly, it's just a good habit to get into because it NEEDS to come first on this type of lifestyle. Even now, I get tired and irritable if I don't get in all of my protein. It's prevalent enough that my husband will shove me toward some cheese…
  • Welcome! Everyone here is so supportive and has fantastic advice. Feel free to add me - I was sleeved almost a year ago now (2/17/15).
  • I had problems with beef right afterward but chicken was OK as long as I chewed it into oblivion. I used to do a cold chicken salad with canned white meat chicken, mustard and dill relish.
  • Anyone is always welcome to add me.
  • ^^^^^ Epic! SUCH a great feeling.
  • @anbrdr, yep. Just place them in a muffin tin with the cups sprayed with non-stick cooking spray (I use the olive oil type), then make your meat with the taco seasoning. Spoon it into the cups with some cheese, then bake at 425 for 5 minutes. Then dress them up once out of the oven (I used lettuce, tomatoes and more…
  • At that point, I was setting goals based on getting in all my protein and water. That was hard enough! The weight loss will come regardless as long as you're following the guidelines set out for you. I added in some walking goals as time went on (which led to working out regularly).
  • I made wonton taco cups for dinner last night. Easy-peasy and really yummy.
  • Awesome, @anbrdr! Make sure you change your date to 2016, though, or people will think that's from last year. You look fantastic.
  • That looks simply amazing. You're making me hungry and all I brought today was yogurt, meat and cheese. lol
