  • Yes! I got it and it laid me out from running for a good stretch. Since I never fell in love with running, I'm kind of ashamed to say I haven't gone back to it. Walking and I are still buddies, though.
  • The best "workout blahs" advice I've ever seen was from this group (I want to say it was either @rpyle111 or @anbrdr). It was to make yourself go to the gym and give yourself 10 minutes. If once you're there and working out for 10 minutes and you STILL don't want to stick it out, then leave. I remember whomever it was…
  • 1. Keep up with walking goals despite the dark and how much I loathe walking on the gym walk track 2. Focus on some strength training 3. Flu shot!!! Time to take it like a lady and get stuck for the greater good. 4. Check in frequently on a friend who just had surgery. 5. Prepare my husband for his own surgery - get him…
  • Me and my little Olaf. He also suckered his stuffed dog, Deohgee, into playing Sven, and my husband will be dressed as Kristoff tonight.
  • This month is all about steeling myself to make GOOD eating decisions for the holiday season. And fall runs. Those too.
  • THANK YOU for this link. I have to say that I'm going back to running mostly because I'm restless without it but I never fell in love with it, so I'm not sure if it will stick. This may help. The challenge in it interests me more than the running, to be honest. I've also slacked off on logging food since I hit goal. I'm…
  • I take 10,000 mcg of Biotin every day and it helped a lot with hair regrowth. I'm like you in that my hair was/is fine and frizzy and grows slowly. The biotin HAS helped, but it wasn't so significant that I can say I have awesome, luxurious hair or anything. Actually, what I did was just embrace the change and take it a…
  • 1. Start running again for the fall runs and increase protein intake to balance it out. 2. Weight training. 3. Reduce caffeine intake.
  • I can't completely quit my Diet Dr. Peppers but I indulge in them a LOT less frequently than I ever used to drink them. My advice: ignoring a craving can spiral you into other stuff, so indulging every so often will not hurt unless it's a true trigger food. With carbonated beverages, it's best to pour a set amount into a…
  • The teeth thing can happen if you don't supplement your multivitamins with (or use one that includes) Calcium Citrate. A lot of people skip it either not realizing they need it or trying to be cheap about their vitamins.
  • Biotin is also great for hair loss. I take 1000 mcg daily. Picked them up at Walmart Supermarket Center for maybe $10 for a three-month supply.
  • My surgeon's take on goal weights is that it isn't necessary to set one as long as you're consistently and faithfully following the guidelines because your body will slow down and stop when you're ready to maintain. (Note that's if you are consistent and faithful to the guidelines - it's easy to lapse and regain if you…
  • Just also keep in mind that as you age, it's tougher to lose. So things you may have done in the past to maintain may be need to be slightly adjusted for your changing body chemistry as you get older. Ultimately, you know what's good for you and if you're healthy and happy with your weight, then no worries.
  • 1. Increase weight training time 2. Start running again to train for fall/winter runs 3. Increase protein intake to account for increased exercise 4. Water water water water water 5. Cut back on coffee. I'm getting junked up on it again.

  • I work with a nonprofit organization that is a music education group for youth. We do recruiting in the fall at band competitions, and I always wear my staff jacket once it gets colder. The other people I recruit with ganged up on me and told me I was going to have to buy a new jacket - my old one, an XL, was way too big…
  • Yikes! Hope you're feeling better this week.
  • Congratulations!! We're here for you before and after. It's the beginning of a great new journey.
  • I lost pretty steadily until about my year mark, when things just REALLY slowed down. It became a lot harder to lose after that, but I still measured losses (even if it took literally weeks just to see a pound go). I am about to hit my 18-month mark and I'm holding fairly steady at the moment. I found that in those months…
  • Welcome! Feel free to add me. You've found a great place for support and advice in this group. I was sleeved 2/17/15 and am down 122 lbs.

  • Just get back on the horse. You can do this. Start from scratch - bust your diet back down to basics like you did just after surgery and retrain your eating habits. If you have trigger foods, eliminate them. If you're having issues with hunger, try increasing the number of times you eat per day but make sure it isn't junk…
  • * Still struggling to find a good balance with exercise for maintenance. Number one priority for this month. * Water, water, water, water, water. The bad thing about living in the deep south is that my skin constantly feels dried out in summer. * Making sure I don't fall into the "I'm done" mentality. This is a lifelong…

  • Don't panic! Post-op fluids can stick around for up to a couple of weeks after surgery. You'll see the pounds start dropping off soon. Also, there is a stall coming up around weeks 3-4. Almost never fails. Don't worry - grab a tape measure and watch your mass decrease during that time and the scale will start moving again…
  • Not doing so great on these. The nonprofit I work with has had me hopping - haven't been to exercise class at ALL this month. While I've been doing enough walking to cover what I would normally walk three days a week, it hasn't been structured exercise. Doing well with water. Doing better with protein - shifting my…
  • Here is my latest and greatest. I'm in my office each day by 7:30 so this is fantastic for when I want a hot breakfast. Just toss in an egg, scramble it, add goodies and hit 45 seconds on the microwave. The best part is I probably paid about $2 when I picked it up on clearance at a local Kmart going out of business.…
  • Welcome! This is a great group - you'll get tons of support here.
  • Awesome. My boys don't do dark meat and they look at me nuts if I hand them a wing. LOL Holy cow, that pic is AMAZING. That looks so good. Definitely trying this one soon.

  • That looks SO good. Have you ever tried this on other chicken pieces besides wings? Or do the pieces have to be small like wings to work? (I'm a southern girl who's REALLY missing her fried chicken.)
