  • Sounds like you're doing well and exactly what they recommend. Here's to a speedy recovery!
  • Keep in mind that at this stage, you are still shedding all of the massive amounts of fluids you were administered during surgery and just after. A good test is to check your ankles. If you poke them, does it take a second or two for your skin to go back to its normal shape? If so, you're still retaining water. The 3-week…
  • What a fantastic program! Thank for the heads up on that - I will probably do the same.
  • Well, my fitness instructor threw my fitness camp goal for a loop - no classes until after the holidays. I think I've doubled the exercise up, though, running around trying to prep for the holidays. Everything else is on track - I weigh later this morning, but I'm soooooooo close to that 100-lbs. mark.
  • @bcedl1982, how'd you do?
  • Woohoo, @AngryViking1970! That's terrific!
  • I had the same reaction to all of the protein shakes, and I tried four different powders and three different canned ones. Total. Utter. Nausea. The only thing I was able to tolerate at all was the Isopure non-flavored powder. I would take it and make fruit smoothies with it to get it down (nothing too acidic - I stuck with…
  • Welcome! There are a few people currently doing the 5-day pouch test to reset in other threads. You may want to check that out as many people say that it helps get back on the wagon. I was sleeved back in February so my honeymoon period is likely coming to an end soon, too. Feel free to friend me if you'd like.
  • It really is a personal decision as to which option is right for you, and it's good you're taking all of the options seriously. My surgeon, who does RNY, sleeve and lapband, requires all candidates to attend a weight loss surgery seminar where people are educated on all three options without prejudice so that they can make…
  • My surgeon had just switched to a new regimen right before my surgery because he said they had found it cut down on the number of leaks/surgical fixes they end up having to go back in and do. All his patients (including me) do 4 weeks of full liquids (this was the change - it was previously 2), 2 weeks of pureed foods, 2…
  • It really is interesting to see how spouses react. In some ways, my husband has changed the WAY he eats (he's eating healthier foods with me), but he hasn't changed the volume of food he's eating, which is a problem. That said, I have a coworker who had a sleeve a little over a year ago and his husband (another coworker)…
  • Congratulations and welcome to the group! I had a sleeve done last February, so I'm no help with RNY, but there are plenty of people here who are. (I also have a Fitbit Flex, so unfortunately, I'm no help there, either.) This group is an amazing resource. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like.
  • Congrats on your pregnancy! I'm not pregnant, but feel free to add me if you'd like. This group is a great resource.
  • Awesome!! Keep it up. Pretty soon you'll have to have the sucker resized. I currently have a temporary guard on mine because it got so loose it started falling off.
  • Congratulations! Hmmmm... No one told me about the effects of Morphine. I was completely looped out to the point where I literally hallucinated conversations with my husband in my head. It was hilarious because I would say the last part of our conversation out loud and he'd have to remind me that he wasn't in the loop on…
  • The infamous three week stall! They're going to happen occasionally. It's all good as long as you're losing mass (take those measurements!). This is also the reason why I only weigh myself 1-2 times a week - I would get obsessed with every time the scale moves upwards, otherwise, even though it's trending downward…
  • For me, something in the protein shakes were the cause of the nausea. I quit drinking them, but it was extraordinarily difficult to get in all of my protein at first. I ended up adding the non-flavored Isopure to a lot of blended soups and also making smoothies with it in order to get it down, but it was tough.
  • @anbrdr, that sounds absolutely delicious, as do the peanut butter chocolate bombs. Holy cow, I'm crashing your place for Christmas dinner.
  • * Up my fitness class attendance to a minimum of two days a week. * Sign up for another 5K and try to shave another minute off my time. * More core and upper arm strength training. * Reach that 100 lbs. lost mark (5.6 more lbs. to go).
  • Thanks, y'all. Can't wait to try these out.
  • Just take things slowly. Chew your food very thoroughly, and don't be afraid to take a step back if your pouch tells you you're not ready. That said, adjusting to food was a lot easier for me than adjusting to my water intake habits. I still struggle with that from time to time nine months out because I used to be a water…
  • Kicking myself for not taking a pic, but it ended up kind of a mushy mess anyway. I made a zucchini "lasagna" last night. Made it by layering zucchini, browned turkey sausage, cottage cheese, sauce (I cheated on this and used Ragu garlic, tomato and onion), ricotta, wash, rinse, repeat until the loaf pan was full. I baked…
  • We had our extended family Thanksgiving meal last weekend, and I let myself splurge a bit in that I didn't deny myself the foods - I just took a very small spoonful of each kind. That way, I didn't overstuff myself and didn't feel awful. In truth, I ended up taking maybe 1-2 tastes out of the spoonfuls and didn't even…
  • Can you elaborate more on this? I started taking 10,000 mcg of biotin and started seeing a HUGE difference in new hair growth (I have little spiky patches where new hair is starting to grow in all over the place now). Also, my nails, which have always been weak before now, are strong enough to grow out without tearing. I…
  • I tend to obsess if I do it too often, so I typically do not weigh myself anymore than twice a week. I try for once a week.
  • Welcome! Let us know if you need anything, and feel free to send a friend request!
  • Yep! That'd do it. But get back on the horse. You've got this! (And yes, upping your carbs can help break a stall but note that I said "temporarily" and "carefully." You shouldn't go nuts with it, and it shouldn't be a permanent addition. But I've seen many people say this is what their nut recommends when they hit a bad…
  • Try the opposite. Typically, temporarily and carefully upping your carbs is what will help you break a stall.
  • If you're on Facebook, RUN (don't walk) to the Rock's Kitchen group. It's an amazing resource for WLS-friendly recipes.
  • While low carb is certainly necessary in this way of life if you plan to be healthy, I think some people think that no-carb is the way to go, which is decidedly dangerous, IMO. The thing you have to look for is GOOD carbs. Just like everything else, everything in moderation.
