  • I think it depends more on how YOU want to track. I set mine at sedentary, but link my Fitbit to it. My fitbit will add in all the calories I have burned. If you are set to active, it will still figue it and add only any additional you may need (if you burned more than "active"). I like being able to see each day what I…
  • Well, I guess normal size models are about a size negative two in the pictures, and that is not normal size
  • Love this. This will help me to deal with my own young ones today. These kinds of post are beneficial
  • It is just that we all remember being 19. Ah, youth. I wish my body reacted like it did when I was in my 20s. I wish I only had the worries that I had in college. Do me a favor, print out this post, put it away to read when you are 40. You will have fond memories of youth as well.
  • Love my charge HR. It is pretty accurate as compared to my poler monitor. I don't really notice a difference in size as compared to my flex. I like it for workouts when I'm not taking a lot of staps. The caller ID is cool too.
  • I am a small in flex but wish I would have gotten large in charge. My wrist is under 6". A lot are complaining about how small the charge is. If I were you I would get the large.
  • I got the charge HR for Christmas. I wear it loose like a watch during normal activity and it works fine. For my workouts I have to wear it a little higher up on my arm to get an accurate rate. I wear it tight then so it stays put. It doesn't bother me for these short times. I find it matches my polar heart rate pretty…
  • Oh sorry, yes, I don't know if the core has an update. I have the link. It prompted me to update it when connected to my computer.
  • Uuuh no. I unpaired and repaired it with my phone and that finally worked.
  • Body media device.
  • Thanks for the idea. Reinstalled the app and still won't connect. Also restarted the phone....
  • Restarted my computer, and it works now. But still doesn't connect to my phone, even after shutting down. Frustrating.
  • Mine won't connect to my phone after the update either. My computer also doesn't recognize it anymore. I did the general reset and that didn't help. Off to research what else to try.
  • This probably won't help you, but the link has a workout feature on the phone app that only measures your workout. I just press start on my phone when I start working out, and then stop it when I am done. Someone who is looking into which to buy might find this usefull. I actually like the feature that it "gets to know…

  • If you are losing inches it is working. There are lots of things changing besides the number on the scale. Weight loss doesn't happen the same each week. You may not lose scale weight for a couple of weeks, but lose an inch at your waist, or your body fat percentage may go down. Or you might lose a bunch 2 weeks later. You…
  • I would think you should try eating your BMR and eat back your exercise calories. I prefer to figure my TDEE, but either way works. Just decide which way you like best. I actually broke though I plateau when I started eating TDEE minus 15 or 20%. I eat between 1800 and 1900 a day now, work out 6 days a week.
  • Is it really at a standstill, or just super S...l...o...w..? I am 5'3, 149 pounds and an losing at an average of .5 pounds a week. My body is definitely reshaping. I can go a couple of weeks an not lose, and then lose a pound. If I wasn't tracking closely I would probably have gotten frustrated and quit by now. But since I…
  • Works for me just as well or better than 1200 calories did. I plateaued on 1200 after I lost about 10 pounds. I started eating between 1800 and 2000 depending on my workouts and started losing again. I am only about 20 pounds from my goal so am losing between 1 and .5 a week. I am sooooo much happier!
  • 5'3, eat between 1800 and 2000 depending on workouts for the week. Usually 5 or 6 workouts a week with some yoga thrown in. I lose between .5 and 1 pound a week and am only about 10 pounds away from being in a a "normal" weight range. I didn't lose any faster when I was eating 1200 a day. Actually it was probably slower,…
  • When I am working hard ( really sweating) my heart rate monitor says about 580 for an hour. I am 5'3 and 150 pounds. I burned more when I weighed more, so you may burn more than that. I use one of the polar monitors with the chest strap. Totally with the money.
  • Again, healthy activities with her. It sounds like you want to lose weight to, so it is a win/win. I understand she wants to be skinny, you just need to put the focus on her being healthy as opposed to trying to get to some magic number on the scale. 13 years olds don't necessarily know what foods are healthy until they…
  • I wouldn't suggest counting calories as a first step. She is still growing, puberty can really mess with girls bodies at that age. They can gain a bunch of weight and then grow three inches quick! Instead, focus on healthy eating. Good nutritious foods and snacks. Have her help make healthy dinners. Then start doing…
  • I do, and still lose at a steady rate. I have a couple of lower days during the week so I can have dinner with friends on the weekends and not have to worry about it. I think a lot of successful people here " save calories" for when they need them. If you use an iPhone or pad app it will even show you the weekly goal and…
  • I eat it now, and subtract it from my calories for the week. I average over the week so that I can have lower days when I don't feel like eating a lot, and higher days when I really want something bad. It is working for me, still losing slowly but surely.
  • I use the TDEE method and eat between 1850 and 2000 depending on my workouts that week. I have been losing at least a pound a week for the last month (when I upped my calories from 1500-1600). I was only expecting to lose about .5 a week. I am 5'3, weigh 148 and workout 6 days a week. I am very happy I tried it. I didn't…
  • I do! And I am still losing. I tend to have a couple of days during the week where I don't eat as much so I don't have to worry about weekends when we go out with friends. I think it is perfect for me.
  • I have an 11 year old daughter, she is not stick thin either. She also sees her dad and I counting calories. We tell her we have to do this as adults because we didn't learn ( or didn't care about :) how to treat our bodies in a healthy way. We only talk about being healthy with her, not losing weight. We tell her kids…
  • I think I would find a nutritionist that has a lot of experience with growing kids. I would probably go without her first to ask my questions. I would be worried about: 1. Restricting calories too much while she is still growing 2. Effects on puberty 3. Her self image if put on a "diet" and the possibility of developing an…
  • I don't call it a "cheat". That implies I am doing something wrong. If it fits within my calorie goals, then I am still working my plan correctly to get where I want to be. I have some type of "not so nutritious" food every single day. So what! I log every single bite and enjoy it. It starts to become "cheating" if you…
