I was very surprised to go back and check and find that I lost 18lbs in two months at the beginning of the year. To do that I was pretty strict with calorie intake and became 1000% more active than I had been - mostly very brisk walking, a few miles a day. So it is potentially achievable, but don't look for or expect to…

Nuts. 25g of walnuts (basically a small handful) come in at 176 calories. It's been reported on the BBC website over the past few days that a study found significant health benefits in eating small amounts of nuts daily, though I can't vouch for the science ... [Edit] - here's the article:…

Here's one from yesterday ... :D http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1144552-help-water-question

Not in THIS post, but perhaps a little in one of your earlier ones. It's all about actually reading what people have written, not jumping to a conclusion about what you THINK they have posted. Now I'm blatantly taking the piss so, signing out of this thread. Enjoy!

Over 6 years for what it's worth ...

I didn't say it wasn't a factor. If you -properly- read my post, I said it should not be top of your list. I'd rather have someone intelligent, who could read, and who had a sense of humour, for example ... ;)

A LOT deeper than something transitory, like looks or bank balance. Call me fussy ...
-
Sure that's no different. Having bank balance at the top of your list is just as questionable as demanding that your S/O is worth showing off ...
-
If your S/O has aesthetics at the top of his/her list they should have declared this at the beginning - and you better prepare to be abandoned if he/she manages to attract someone better looking. What you look like is more important than what sort of person you are? Bring on the apocalypse ...

Take a look at the recipe section here - I have tried a few, and they are pretty good. If your budget isn't as low as Jack's you can add stuff ... http://agirlcalledjack.com/category/recipes-food-etc/

Porridge for breakfast. [Edit - 50g porridge oats and 200ml milk is under 25p and will warm you up and fill you until lunchtime] Roast a load of vegetables - buy a cheap bag of potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions for about £1 in the UK - get some garlic in there too. Get a swede in there for under a quid at Lidl/Aldi.…

Time for a new BF. Absolutely. He can change his attitude easier than you can change your skeletal structure ... Good luck!

I started off by making a decision not to use my car for journeys under 1-mile. Actually, now the car is gone (easy for me, living in a city, I appreciate that) ... The British Cycling team have been massively successful by making a lot of small incremental tweaks. Each one adds little on its own, but added together ...…

Plus you would be surprised what you can 'get' for 1-200 calories. You can eat LOTS of vegetables for that ...
-
I tend to save my calories during the day (still eating a decent breakfast and lunch, though) and then eat pretty much what I like at a reasonable time in the evening. Are you hungry, or just not full? I eat around 6pm and sure, I'm not stuffed when I go to bed, but it doesn't distract me from sleeping ...

I think it depends on who you ask. Girlfriend - 10 years older Mum - 10 years younger Draw your own conclusions :)

Last time I checked, this was about whole-life choices, not short-term fixes. You also need to realise that many people have a vested interest in you failing. It makes them feel better about their own sh!tty lives ... Ignore those *kitten*. Move on. [Edit - not calling your grandfather a *kitten*, per se, but people who…

Walking! It is severely under-rated. This has been my main exercise, and as you can see I have lost some weight (I was 173lb at New Year's Day and have been under 140lb for about 3 months). Walk further. Walk faster. Actually, after a few months I wanted to jog, and I have always thought joggers were idiots. Not long ago I…

NOT an expert, but received wisdom on here seems to be that you cannot dictate where the fat come from or in what order. All you can do is tone what's underneath.

Surely you are loitering under a bridge for billy goats to cross ...

And, I make flatbreads which come in at about 250 calories for the roughly the size of my hand. No cr@p in them either, or excess salt. So, sure for 150 calories or so I can turn them into pizza with homemade tomato sauce and some toppings and cheese (wow, 400 calories a slice, he says ironically), but two of those would…

Funniest thing I have seen in ages :)

Personally I love the 70% cocoa plus stuff. Also sea salt in chocolate. I must admit I can have a square and move on. And for cheaper chocolate, like Celebrations, Quality Street etc. (UK stuff) that gets thrown around at work, I can simply smell the box and feel like I've had my fix ...

Could they be ... drum roll ... jealous? Over the years I've seen so many people sabotage other people's dreams through their words or actions (think the office 'feeder', for example). You simply have to accept that a significant minority of people make THEMSELVES feel better by putting other down. Once you accept that,…

I find asking yourself "How much do you want this?" works wonders, although funnily enough I've not used it in terms of weight loss. Anytime achieving a goal involves getting out of my comfort zone or doing something difficult, I just ask myself that question and it seems to motivate me. That may sound simple, but it…

The Happening - beyond laughable Synodoche - converted me to nihilism (temporarily, thankfully) There's going to be another one, but those two leap to my mind immediately. And Synodoche is absolutely shocking ...

No TV here either. My life is richer without it. I'm an English teacher, and I usually announce this as part of the 'getting to know each other' segment with a new class. It never fails to amuse me to observe how utterly horrified most of the class are. Usually, but not always, one bright spark deduces that because I'm an…

If you're interested PM me and I can let you have some recipes I made up which, if you make in bulk, work out at about £1-25 per portion. Then to really fill you up, add 75-100g brown rice or wholewheat pasta. They're mostly meat-free (although I'm not a vegetarian). Cooking in bulk is the way to go if you live on your own…
