easy, count the minutes you walk in a session, count the minutes you jog! Then in the exercise calculator pick the pace that best suits you, enter your numbers, et voila, mfp tells you what you burned! I generally go for 3.5mph brisk walk, and 5mph light jog. I'm pretty sure it's as accurate as I'm going to get to be able…

I usually have 2 ryvita multigrain crispbreads with 25g low fat cottage cheese - 100cals! So I don't feel bad if on the odd day I actually want another helping to fill me up :) (usually I have a cup of tea with milk and sugar which adds another 50 to the total, but totally worth it IMO so I can get my morning cuppa!)

DEFINITELY don't do more than the workout gets you to do - I think this is the mistake I made last week, cos I was so chuffed with myself for being able to do the 3 minute runs, I added another 3 minute to the end of w3d1 - and suffered the rest of the week as a result!
-
Yep, I would say my pace has been fairly consistent - though as each week progresses I think my jog speeds possibly go up a teeny bit. And I'm fairly sure I subconsciously speed up for the last minute of the last run each time, just to push myself that little bit further lol. Once I'm to the end of the programme and can…

she's great, she's seen me through to week 4 so far and I don't hate her for what she's putting me through lol. I'm really starting to enjoy it actually :)
-
Good for you, it's definitely worth keeping up with, cos then you can start having silly crazy victory moments each time you manage to go onto the next week - I've just done w4d1 and was so chuffed with myself that I actually posted my first success story about it lol :) To everyone that's still with me, keep it up, we're…

I must be one of the few people whose body has "forgotten" how to walk in heels. When I was in school I'd wear 4" heeled boots every day without worry, could walk as normal, run etc, yet as an adult I transitioned into "comfy" footwear, got used to flat boots and trainers. Now I can't wear heels the way I used to, they…

I go with podcasts for my ipod that were specifically created for the programme, you can download them for free from the NHS. Others have apps that do the same thing. I couldn't imagine having to try and pay attention to a stopwatch whilst putting myself through it! :)
-
the nhs podcast has its own music, it's pretty generic and not techno/rappy. Might be worth a try. And you get some nice encouragements and hints n tips from the speaker on the podcast as well. Plus, it's free :)

well that's week three completed - not sure how I'm going to fare with week four, might repeat three again, but I'd feel pants having to do that!

I know this is OT and I may well get bashed for saying it, but I just wanted to point out that not allowing a dog to stop and sniff is NOT good for it! (of course the exercise bit is, so good for you both, but from a mental stimulation perspective, and for fulfilment of natural behaviours, sniffing is absolutely necessary…

ouchy ouch ouch! How come wk3d2 hurt more, WAY more than d1?! Is it because I got too brave and pushed myself through a gruelling half hour cardio yesterday instead of resting? Still, I did it! Pushed on through, and ready for d3 on friday - I think I might allow myself a bit of respite tomorrow though!

probably 450 pounds a month or thereabouts, for me, the man and the 2 dogs... Sadly I'm in the same boat as catlady and have lost my income, and in all honesty I have no idea how we are going to survive food-wise - once all our rent and bills have gone out, we may have 20 pounds a week for food, if we're lucky! So, any…

I have mine safely zipped into a pocket for this exact reason! Sorry I couldn't be of more help - are armbands really necessary? (I'm looking for a serious answer to this if anyone's got one!)

I was totally the same when i did the first week 3 run on monday - although I knew it was coming in advance and thought there was NO way that I'd do it! When I did I just couldn't stop myself from smiling, in fact I jogged an extra 3 minutes to get back home after the session was over! Keep it up, and lets hope each new…

please re-read everyone's replies to you, there's a TON of good information and help in there, it seems that you have only focussed on something negative. If you want some really simple, direct help: log all your food (for now, don't even worry about what you're eating, just log it, and then we can help you see where…

Lots of good suggestions from everyone here, as always! With a 2300+ calorie allowance there's no WAY you should ever feel hungry unless the stuff you're putting in isn't the best - the other option is that you may actually have something out of whack with you, and I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor to rule that…

I suspect I will love it, cheese and chocolate is a killer combo of love for me!

WOW oh my god, not only did I do it, t DIDN'T kill me! In fact, I felt so grea that I stuck another 3 minute run on the end of the session, I can't tellyou allhow fantastic I'm feeling about this right now! I just hope everyone else is feeling *kitten* great as I do right this minute!

DON'T DO IT!!!

This is a bit of a tangent I know, but if anybody else remembers listening to Derk and Clive - well yes, even cancer is allowed to be mentioned in the name of comedy, nomatter how bizarre :)

I'm currently on Mirtazapine (since dec '11) and prior to that was taking Escitalopram (from feb '11). I did put on weight from the feb to the dec, then in december I put on a good stone in a matter of weeks - though I don't think this was a side effect of the medication, the fact is, due to my horrendous state of anxiety…

Oh my god I hadn't actually looked at the prog for week 3 - I just did! TWO sets of 3 minute runs, oh, my, GOD! Somehow I think I'm gonna be repeating this week ( or maybe even last week!) a bit til I can get up to that lmao :)

Gonna be doing wk 3 d1 later tonight, is everyone still on course with the challenge?

Some really good points about the way the english language morphs over time - I'm glad that this seems to be going in the direction of intellectual debate rather than snarking! With regards to being more creative with insults, I generally as a rule try to avoid insults, purely because that promotes a negative frame of mind…

Just to throw this out there, and no doubt it will bring with it recriminations aplenty, but to me I don't find it offensive - if I hear the term used in a derogatory manner, I don't associate it with drawing a comparison between the person and someone who is disable in any way - it's a stand alone phrase. And, as someone…

Remember, you are succesfully losing weight, you are in control and able to do things that will only improve you both physically and mentally as a person. For him however, there is no cure for being a c**t.

hmm I wonder how it would work the other way around (blitz the banana into whipped cream consistency then freeze)

I'm starting wk3 tomorrow, so I've got a way to go, but I find it really inspiring to hear about everyone's successes with the programme! I'm really hoping that once I've done it, I'll keep to 5k runs 3x a week for fitness and weightloss!

Aw thanks! I got a letter yesterday morning to tell me I hadn't got the job :( Felt really rubbish for a few hours, but I know I did my best, and I did well, so I can feel proud of myself for that! I so nearly didn't go out to meet a friend cos of how I felt, but I made myself do it anyway and had such a good evening, and…
