  • You want professional help. Ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist. That is the person best suited to helping you strengthen your back.
  • Perhaps this finally answers the question of which came first, the chicken or the egg.
  • Can't help you with supplements as they never worked for me. However, I can recommend something entirely different. Have you every looking into Chi Running? It's a simple modification in the way you run that takes a lot of the pressure off of the knees and other joints. This method helps you harness your momentum better as…
  • When it comes to friends, I have strict rules. I won't tell you to work out if you don't tell me how to eat. If they comment that they *want* to make changes, I'll ask them if they want me to encourage them. Most of the time I find out that they want no prodding or encouraging, they just wanted to whine. Sorry, folks, no…
  • Oh come now, let's add a vegetable for fun. Place one asparagus spear in the middle of the chicken, then roll it around the spear. Then wrap in double bacon. You know, just for kicks. lol
  • Love bacon! But bacon toothpaste? That would defeat part of my reason for brushing my teeth-so I get the taste of food out of my mouth! But might work for getting my sons to brush their teeth more often...hm...
  • I would add a side item to your sandwich. Have a salad, cup of soup, baby carrots, or similar. When I make sandwiches, I use Sandwich thins (about as polar opposite as you can get from granary rolls!) and pile on the meat and veggies on the sandwich. This way I'm getting more protein to fill me, more veggies, and less…
  • LuridDreamer-where do you live? I would have killed for that response when I was pregnant. Around here no one gives up a seat unless it's at gun point. I can't tell you how uncomfortable I was stand up on on 30 minute bus ride at 7 months pregnant. Thank goodness it wasn't longer! But I hate it when people ask. Even when I…
  • HI all! I'm Jenna and I participated in my first NaNo in 2009. I won that year with a story that started as little more than me yacking about a trip I took to Canada (Go Flames!). I won that year, though the story is still sitting at approximately 50,001 words. lol I've toyed with it some since, but not much. In 2010 I…

  • We can bounce ideas off each other, then. I'm working on a vampire story this year, too. :) Vampires in modern America with a twist of nontraditional heroine kicked in.

  • How about "Crap Free?" You define what crap is to your body. If sugar is a problem to your body, then go with sugar free. If fat is the problem, then go fat free. If neither bothers you, then get regular. If both bother you, use milk or go black.
  • Folks sure love to come up with new names. When I was a kid that was a push-up. A four-count push-up technically. But in our gym that was the push-up expected.
  • Nope, I just don't do it. There's no rule that says that because everyone else is drinking alcohol that you must do so as well. Just choose something else. Or, alternatively, if you choose to drink alcohol, just make sure it fits into your calorie limits for the day. If you know you're going to drink, then plan ahead and…
  • Lemon Chicken & Mushrooms 1 pack fresh baby bella mushrooms or similar 2 chicken breasts lemon juice lemon pepper seasoning Cooking spray De-cap the mushrooms and reserve the stems. Spray the baking pan and place cleaned mushroom caps upside down in the baking pan. Drizzle with lemon juice. Sprinkle both sides of chicken…
  • I think there's at least one in every group. Keep in mind, though, that your constant offers to exercise with her might be taken by her as nagging. Here's my recommendation-if she objects to what you eat, don't go out to eat with her. Offer to go shopping at the mall and keep up a brisk walking pace. Offer to talk a nature…
  • It's not a good diet, that's for sure. But it's not that hard to tweak it. Add some eggs or meat to your breakfast biscuit. Then you're getting some protein with it. Try to always "dress" your carbs with some protein. Have a piece of fruit with cheese or nut butter for a snack before lunch. I have no idea what's in a…
  • Know your budget really well. Know exactly how much you can spend in advance, including a cushion for price inflation later. There's few things worse than buying the most house you can afford and then realize that electricity for it is over your budget or something similar. Don't mortgage yourselves to the max-keep it…
  • Nursing helps some mothers to lose weight, but it's not universal. asra- What goals did you set? Did you tell MFP you want to lose 2 lbs per week? If so, it will always tell you 1200 calories because it can't go lower. Set your goal at 1 lb per week to get an actual realistic idea of what your calorie needs are.
  • After a hard workout, your body needs to be refueled. Have a snack. Also, give yourself time to get used to this routine. Yes, you will be fatigued after that workout. But after a week or so you'll adjust to get more sleep (going to bed earlier) so you won't be as fatigued after.
  • Get a note from her doctor saying she needs water with her at school. They can't turn that down. In addition, try prune or plum juice, and let her snack on prunes for her fruit. This helped my son.
  • If you are leaving because your father needs help, that is a very different issue than just quitting without notice. If it truly matters that you get to your dad NOW, then tell your employer this and work something out. If not, offer then notice but let them know that it would be most helpful if they didn't need you the…
  • The implication here seems to be that extra cardio doesn't help. But does it touch at all on the idea of 30 minutes of cardio plus weights?
  • I'd recommend this option personally. I use a leave-in conditioner on my non-shampoo days and that keeps my hair in pretty good shape.
  • Unless your doc has you on an intentionally low protein diet, don't worry about it. It's tough to get too much protein. TBH, the preset goal from MFP seems pretty low to most folks here.

  • No, they're not tearing. I can still pick up the liner and it holds what's in it. It just seemed weird that the stuff seems to seep through with no tears. At first I had thought it was just condensation, but it's the same color as the sauce of whatever I'm cooking usually. It's still way easier to clean than if I didn't…
  • I would doubt it. When I was skinny for my height heels hurt. It can relieve a lot of the pressure on joints, so your joints might hurt less. But I doubt it would do anything for wearing high heels.

  • Sounds good to me. I've been at work for 4.5 hours and I've downed 40 oz. Will have another 16 oz down after lunch. Keep it up!
  • Hehe I did something similar when I had my first son. :) Here are my recommendations: Connor Ian Guy
  • I can sympathize. It's not easy cooking for a house full of picky folks. It's no fun to cook the healthy meal and then listen to everyone complain. But I did it. My husband is fairly picky, but even he would rather eat what I offer than make his own. Most of the time. So that's what I started doing finally. I cook one meal…
  • Thanks for the feedback! It might be awhile before we get it-DH is out of work in two weeks. But who knows what deals will come along, right?
