I had just been using the scooby calculator with Harris Benedict as the default, too. I don't know my BF% so I couldn't do the other two, but there's only a 4 calorie difference between Harris Benedict and the Mifflin-St. Jeor one for me.

That's what I figure. But then I'm worried because I don't know what my actual weight is - I went to the doctor in early May and was 147, and shortly after is when I started eating exercise calories back and eating more (about 2200-2400/day) and slowly started gaining. When I weighed in a week ago Friday, I was 153.8, so…

I think the Scooby calculator is set on the Harris-Benedict equation. What site are you using that you can change it?

That's awesome!! Did you see any initial weight gain or have you been losing the whole time? when I first started eating at MFP's recommended 1640 and then eating my exercise calories back, I started slowly gaining. I'm up about 6-7 pounds from then. Once I did the TDEE calculations, I think during that time (eating back…

I am having a better day today, thank you! :) It's just hard because when i was eating VLC, I'd 'save' my calories - just in case I had a big dinner or whatever. So now, eating at TDEE (2655), I *have* to space it out during the day. Right now I'm around 1800-1900 and I haven't eaten dinner yet, and that worries me,…

Thank you so much for posting this. I teared up when I read it. I am exactly like you- I was so strict for so long, always diligently working out, always diligently eating 1500-1600 calories a day. And suddenly, that stopped working - and I'd see a gain on the scale - and immediately find comfort in a cereal box or a jar…

You never said anything about my pancreas. In your original post, you talked about how YOUR pancreas has trouble 'shutting off' after you eat higher carb amounts. And then you said something about how you would never dare eat oatmeal because of this. So my comment was to say that I do not and cannot possibly have that…

It wasn't my intention to come across as ungrateful and I'm sorry if that's how it sounded. I just know for a fact that, for me, it has nothing to do with my pancreas. Believe me, I wish my pancreas worked! :)

I've been entering my workouts and just paying attention to the 'food' column - but then realized that adding in high burns throws off my macro ratios. So now I'm not really sure what to do!
-
Well- I don't mean to be glib here, but it isn't my pancreas having a hard time 'shutting off'. My pancreas hasn't worked since I was 12 ;) I'm type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump. Prior to my pump, I was on a diet of 30 carbs at breakfast, 60 at lunch, 90 at dinner, and 45 as an evening snack (I never ate breakfast prior…

I opened my diary to friends only and added you as a friend. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables which seem to add up! It's interesting, though - before I added my exercise in I had 15 carbs remaining, but adding in exercise allows me more carbs. Except I won't be eating the full allowance because obviously I won't be…

Crap. I thought I was doing relatively well today, but just checked my macros - I only have 15 carbs left for the day and am still at work and haven't been to the gym yet. So the banana I eat before going to the gym will take the rest of those carbs. And then I have dinner left... I still have quite a bit of protein left,…

I had a protein shake yesterday (my boyfriend uses protein powder). I think I'll incorporate these more into my diet. Especially because I was closer to my protein goal yesterday than I've ever been - likely thanks to the protein powder - but it just scares me that on the ONE day I was close to my macros I completely blew…

I work out 5/6 days a week and had a rest day Tuesday, so I had planned on going to the gym this morning - but I'm type 1 diabetic and the cereal binge left me waking up with a blood sugar of 316, which is too high to work out. So instead I've spent the morning crying and feeling sorry for myself that I am STILL binging…

Very minimal weight lifting - I bought the NROLFW book but haven't had the chance to read through it yet. I have a road race at the end of July that I need to train for so I want to keep my cardio up. I wasn't even thinking about moving myself into the next activity level up - I thought I was overestimating my activity…

I'm not a vegetarian but just not a very big meat eater. Sometimes I eat grilled chicken, but we hardly ever have red meat or anything in the house. Even today... already over on carbs (& haven't eaten dinner yet), and way under on both protein and fats. Blah!
-
I think I want to do more research into NROLFW before starting - I just bought the book yesterday so I haven't had the chance to read it yet. Right now I'm eating at my 5-6 hours of strenuous activity level TDEE (which is 2655). Does doing the elliptical for an hour 5-6 days a week count as strenuous? I'm just worried…

It's hard because I thought I'd already 'lost' - I started at 205 two years ago but maintained at 144-ish for several months (close to a year), but it wasn't until I had to take a break from working out (stress fractures) and then started back at the gym again that I realized I wasn't eating enough for how much I started…

Started the reset today. Just ate dinner and have 450 cals to go so I need to plan my eating better. I originally upped my cals in early May and the scale's showing a 7 pound gain - but then I realized I still wasn't eating enough, so today is day 1 of eating at full TDEE. Pretty petrified of gaining more weight because my…

I've been looking into NROLFW - and it looks like, from the reviews I've read, it has you calculate calories on workout days and non-workout days. So do we follow that or stick with eating our constant TDEE? Should I not start NROLFW if I'm starting a metabolism reset??
-
How long does the weight gain/bloat last? What makes me so nervous is the thought of gaining even more weight than what I already have- I upped my cals once and gained, so are you sure I should up them again?
-
Also- if I do do the reset, do I continue working out, too? Or should I do a reset at sedentary and not work out...? I'm watching the videos but haven't found this answer yet. Or do you suggest finding the activity level you want to have long term, eating at that TDEE, and being at that activity level?

While at the gym this morning I was thinking maybe I'll continue eating the 2400-ish but cut my workouts down. But since I've gained the 6-7 pounds since May 4 (when I originally upped my cals) - will eating the same cals but working out less cause another 6+ pound gain? This makes me nervous, just because my pants are…

Can anyone please give me any advice?? I'm at a loss here :(

Hi all- 5'10", and joined MFP at 148 pounds trying to get back down to 145. It had me netting 1640 so I'd eat all my exercise cals back. I go to the gym daily and do pretty heavy cardio, so I've been eating anywhere from 2200-2500. Got on the scale Friday morning and I'm up to 153.8 pounds. I found the TDEE thread and went…

Hi all! I joined MFP in the beginning of May when I got my iPhone. At the time, I was 148 pounds and wanted to get to 145, so it had me netting 1640 calories. I work out daily, between 50-70 minutes - usually the elliptical (last fall I had stress fractures in my feet from running, so I'm nervous to do anything too high…
