You are seriously awesome. I'm going to go work out right now! haha

This is a huge problem for me! Especially being a broke student, I feel like I need to take advantage of ANYTHING that's free. There are often events on campus with free pizza, bbq's, or receptions with lots of treats and goodies after a workshop or concert. I've made a deal with myself that I'm allowed to have the free…

I think I was about 280 when I started the 30DS and I had no troubles getting through it. I mean it was tough in the sense that I got a good workout from it, but I wasn't about to die or anything. By the end of each level I was able to do the full un-modified versions of every move except for push ups. I've heard of some…

To do REAL pushups! None of this wussy knee push up business. And to run a half marathon.

If you've recently changed your gym routine, it is most likely your muscles retaining water to cushion and repair themselves since they are not used to this new workout yet. Here's a great article that explains why this happens: http://www.choose2befit.com/exercise/why-you-gain-weight-with-a-new-program

I'm not your age (I'm 22) but I've known I don't want children for several years now. As soon as I was old enough to start having serious relationships, around 16 or 17, I realized I didn't want the standard family that society tells us we should have. I don't have any desire to get married either. Everyone always tells me…

I'm a sucker for Romantic era stuff. Tchaikovsky is probably my favourite. Is anyone here familiar with Marjan Mozetich? He's a Canadian composer I discovered a couple years ago and oohhh my god he is amazing. His concerto for 2 harps - one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard! I'm a music major at school - I study…

Not gonna lie, I used to harbor some resentment towards my parents as well for the same reason. I was an extremely active kid, but I ate so much crap that I was fat my entire childhood and adolescence. I certainly don't think my parents did it on purpose - I think they just lacked knowledge of nutrition, and my mom was…

I'm 5'11'' and am just under 100lbs from my ultimate goal. I was eating 1600 plus exercise calories, but I just recently changed my goal to eating around 1800 daily to keep my calories more consistent. It's only been 2 days so I don't know if it's made a difference yet, but I'm hoping the change will get me out of this rut…

I'm halfway through stage 1 and though I'm familiar with the exercises now, I did bring my book with me for the first few workouts to make sure I was executing everything properly. I also made sure to watch videos on youtube or bodybuilding.com beforehand to see exactly what proper form looked like in action. I also used…

1. You are not as fat as you think you are 2. Your self worth is not based on your appearance, and people actually DO like you for who you are 3. Learn about nutrition and tell your parents to buy some freaking vegetables 4. Learn how to study, because even though you can coast through highschool without it, once you get…

It's completely normal to see a slight gain on the scale when you start a new workout regime. When you start working out, especially with strength training, your muscles retain extra water to help with muscle repairs. It usually goes away in a week or so.

That's awesome, congrats! You look fantastic :) I can't wait till I can wear sweater dresses! I've always thought they were so cute, but when I wear them they cling in all the wrong ways and I look lumpy and gross. It's definitely going to be one of my "goal outfits" when I get to a lower weight.

1. Never skip a meal 2. Sunday, tuesday, and thursday are non-negotiable gym days. Ideally I would go 6 days a week, but when things get really busy I have to make sure I go on those 3 days, as if they were scheduled appointments.

I finally took the plunge and tried my squats with the olympic bar in the squat rack today (I had been using kettlebells for the last couple weeks because I was too scared to use the squat rack in front of all the huge buff dudes). It was awesome and I felt like a total badass! I even added some more weight to the bar and…

I'm a fan of Optimum Nutrition as well. I have the french vanilla and extreme milk chocolate and they both taste great with almond milk  I tried several different kinds of protein powder before this one and hated the taste of the others.

Just finished the A2 workout today. I haven't tried squatting with an olympic barbell yet - I've just been doing it with kettlebells so far. I'm a little scared to try as I feel like having the extra weight on my shoulders will throw off my balance and form. Did anyone have problems with that?

Me too! Well...at least I will be soon. I'm in my last year of my education degree, then I can be a professional band nerd lol. I'm a percussionist, and I play harp too though that is outside of band obviously. I also recently fell in love with the french horn! I reeeaaally want my own now haha ETA: I definitely went to…

It is definitely hard. My ridiculous school schedule is one of the main reasons I gained all this weight in the first place! I have started actually scheduling my workouts into my day, and treating them like any other appointment. I don't skip a workout just like I wouldn't skip class (most of the time lol), work, or…

Hi guys, new to the group. I just did my first workout today! I can already tell my legs are gonna be sore tomorrow...

I just started NROLFW today and I am 5'11'' with close to 100 pounds to lose. The prone jackknife is definitely hard, but I was surprised that I actually did it (with difficulty) and only fell off the ball once. Give it a try before you give up on it - I definitely didn't think I was going to be able to do it before I…

Hi everyone! I'm starting my first NROLFW workout today and I'm super pumped! I'm 22 year old student and started my fitness and weight loss journey (again) a few months ago. I've lost about 30 pounds so far doing a mix of cardio and simple dumbbell and body weight exercises (stuff like Jillian Michaels DVDs) but I am…

Hi, fellow uni student here! I'm in my last year of my music/education degrees. I definitely understand how hard it is to balance school, work, and the other factors of life with a healthy lifestyle. I definitely had a tendency to put school ahead of things like eating, sleeping, exercising....sometimes even personal…

Lots of people seem to find measuring inches rather than pounds more effective with this workout. If you've never really done any strength training your muscles will likely retain water to repair themselves for the first little while which might mean little movement on the scale, but don't be discouraged since it's just…

I'm not from Winnipeg but I'm from Brandon! Feel free to add me if you want a fellow Manitoban :)

I have lost over 60 pounds before, but I gained it all back plus more over the last few years. I gained it back because I simply couldn't keep up with a healthy lifestyle anymore. I was crazy busy with school and working multiple jobs, I had a lot of family problems and stress in my life, plus I was flat out broke and had…

Holy crap you look fantastic! These are exactly the kind of results I'm hoping for - this is hugely inspiring! Congrats on your success, you should be very proud :)

I started around 300 pounds too, and I'm about 100 pounds from my ultimate goal weight right now. Also my calorie goal is around 1600 right now, but I often eat back some of my exercise calories so I usually eat more like 1800-2000 calories. Feel free to add me if you like :)

I gotta say, there actually was a time in my life when I literally couldn't afford to be healthy when it came to food. I'm a university student and a couple years ago I was living on my own, all my savings were gone, and I was working 2 jobs on top of a really heavy course load just to stay afloat. I didn't have cable, I…

It might be a good idea to start with 30DS. It's tough but not as tough as Insanity, so a lot of people use it to kind of work their way up to Insanity. Plus once you have finished the 30DS and you are really invested in your home workouts, you might not be as hesitant to spend more money on the Insanity DVD's if you know…
