  • I go to a gym regularly and my exercise instructor advises us to alternate days for cardio and weight training. You don't want over do it on one muscle group two days in a row. However, you will feel better and a lot less sore if you stretch that muscle out the next day and then do some cardio.
  • I think that the smaller goals are helpful also. My goal is to lose twenty more pounds by the end of May (I've lost a total of 11 pounds since Jan 1, but didn't join the site until recently). That would put me at a 30 pound loss total by summer vacation. I would really like to lose more than that by the end of May, but I'm…
  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to keep trying to cut back on the weekends. I need to lose some weight badly. I want my clothes to fit better (and be able to buy smaller clothes). I want to look better, but most importantly, I want to feel better. I want to lower my blood pressure and cholestorol. Those are the goals I need to…
  • I can only officially work out (go to the gym) three days a week right now because of my busy schedule and my daughter's activities, so I try to work out for an 1 - 1 1/2 hours each time I work out to make up for it. When I don't work out, I try to get in some walking around the neighborhood, or playing with my daughter,…
  • you might try a stir fry, with chicken or another lean meat, or a shish kabob. We did those this past weekend with chicken, lean steak, mushrooms, small potatoes, bell pepper, and onion and they were great. Try marinating them in whatever seasonings you like and then broiling them in the oven. You can get skewers for a…
  • Hi! Welcome to MFP. I am pretty new on here too and love the site already!
  • Thanks for all of the advice! I appreciate it. I'm going to have to try some of the suggestions. Part of my problem is that I haven't been able to make it to the gym on the weekends. My daughter plays basketball on Saturday mornings, and then I also use Saturday to do our grocery shopping, house cleaning, etc. Hopefully…
  • Good luck. I just joined recently too, but have been trying to lose weight since New Year's. So far, I've done okay on my own (10 lbs), but this site is really great and makes me keep track of what I'm eating and what I'm doing to lose the weight. I think this site is a great place to start. I wish I had found it sooner.…
  • Don't get me wrong, I love when the weekend is here! However, I know I could lose more weight more quickly if I could stick to my regular routines on the weekend. My husband is home though, and he likes to go out to eat usually once, but sometimes twice in a weekend. It's hard to eat out and stick to your diet, especially…
  • I try to work out at least three times a week for an hour each time. Sometimes I can't do it that often, and sometimes I can fit in another workout in there. You would think as little as I have been eating and as much as I have been working out in the past month and a half that I would have lost more than 10 pounds though!…
  • I just started here this week also, so I haven't lost anything "officially" on the site yet, but I actually started dieting at New Year's and have lost 10 pounds so far. I have problems with self-confidence issues too, but I have found that if I don't go to a gym then I'm NOT going to exercise. Once I got into the habit of…
  • thanks so much! Things are going pretty well so far, but I've been sick this week so I haven't been able to make it to the gym this week. I know things would be going better for me if I could go and exercise. I hate getting out of my routine! I'm trying to cut my calories down and add more exercise, so maybe next week I…

  • Thanks everyone! I got off to a rocky start this past weekend (my husband wanted to go out to eat), so I think I may have actually gained some already, instead of losing some. I'm going to stick with it though and really keep track of what I eat this week!
  • Hi! I just joined and I really need a site like this one. I've been dieting and exercising regularly since New Year's and I'm slowly starting to make progress, but it really helps to have a motivational tool such as this one to help push me along. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I would welcome them! My goal is to…
