  • I know how you feel. I just started back on the "diet train" too, and I have had the same problem. I am trying the slimfast diet this time, and I lost a couple of pounds at first, but the scale hasn't moved since.
  • Welcome to MFP! It's a great site! I know I wouldn't be where I am now without it. Just stick with it and you'll get there.
  • I know how you feel. I started at 230 but now I'm going back and forth between 189 and 187. I'll lose two pounds one week and gain them back the next week. It's really getting annoying. I don't really no what else to do to fix this problem.
  • When my husband I were dating, I had the same problem. Now he still eats that way and doesn't exercise, but it has caught up to him. He really needs to lose some weight.
  • I know how you feel. I fell to temptation today because a coworker brought a pie to work today. At least I just got half of a slice.
  • You're doing more than I am and so far what I am doing is working. I work and have a 7 yr old daughter so my time is limited to. My schedule is usually like this: Monday - 1 hr - step aerobics Tuesday - 1hr - strength training class Wednesday - 1hr -Pilates class (most weeks) Thursday - 1 hr - strength training class I…
  • Good luck with this situation. It is definitely a tough one. However, if you are having signs and problems like this now, they will only get worse later on. Things that you think you can deal with when you're dating, have a tendency to become serious pet peeves later on, and if he's hiding things from you, that is an…
  • I think what Vallandingham is trying to say is that at this point in their lives, they have learned responsibility and they are good people, so he would not feel bad about giving them things. It's like the saying - it's better to give than receive. It is nice to give things to those you love and see the joy it brings them.…
  • Swimming is very good exercise. I don't know if upper body work will be enough to help you lose weight, but it might help keep you from gaining. Good luck!
  • My husband seems to go back and forth on this issue. He wants our daughter (age 7) to have more than he had, but he doesn't want her to be spoiled! I do spoil her some, but she doesn't get everything she wants (she says I only know how to say NO!, but that's not true). For instance, she wanted a Nintendo DS for Christmas,…
  • I am a teacher, and I've heard that there is a teacher on a different campus that won't allow students to use scented deodorant even. I think that is taking it way too far!
  • I have never been at my ideal weight either, except when I was very young. I'm still not there yet, but I can tell you that you will definitely feel better both physically and mentally! You WILL see the difference especially when your favorite clothes start falling off of you and you have to shop for more. You will feel…
  • The reason that you are supposed to eat your exercise calories is because if you are way under then your body can go into starvation mode and it is more difficult to lose weight. However, with the number of calories you are eating, I doubt this will happen. I don't always eat my exercise calories, but I usually try to eat…
  • I'm the same way. I have to go to the gym or I won't stick to it. If I'm on my own it's just so easy to find other things that need to be done around my house. If I make myself get out of the house and go to the gym then I am more focused on the exercises that I need to be doing, rather than trying to hurry up and finish…
  • Welcome! I am not a stress eater (I eat when I'm bored), so I don't know if this would work for you, but it has for me......Exercise. When I feel like I need to eat, I try to go for a walk or a bike ride instead. Usually that works, because like I said, I am really just bored so I want to get food and eat in front of the…

  • Welcome to MFP! It's really a great site and has helped me stay motivated on my weight loss, diet, and exercise goals. Congrats on the new baby!
  • I'm glad to hear that most people think it is unreasonable. I was wondering if I would be able to reach the range for normal, and if I did, I don't think I would look very healthy.
  • I've taken two zumba classes, and they are fun if you enjoy dancing. I have taken the classes because my sister-in-law is the instructor, so I thought I'd give it a try. They are very fast-paced and somewhat hard to follow at first, but I think that gets better once you've been to a few classes. My sister-in-law weard her…

  • My sister-in-law teaches Zumba and she wears a heart rate monitor during class. She burns between 800 - 1200 calories an hour with Zumba, so I don't think that you are overestimating.
  • I have recenlty started taking a Pi-Yo class, which is a mixture of pilates and yoga. I agree, the moves are tough at times, but I feel the difference in my muscles the next day.
  • I have this same problem. I cheated yesterday, and woke up wanting more bad stuff, and lots of it. I had to force myself to eat a low calorie, breakfast that is good for me. I am still feeling hungry now, but I'm going to stick to my calorie goals.
  • Thanks....I am always happy to have a little jump start, though in this case I would have gladly passed it by. It was a miserable experience!
  • I try to alternate days between cardio and strength training. According to the personal trainer at my gym, you will actually lose more weight and keep it off more consistently if you do it this way. The stronger all your muscles are, the more calories they burn and the higher your metabolism will be. So, instead of doing…
  • Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend! I got a lot of exercise in this weekend, but then I ended up going out to eat Mexican food yesterday for dinner and again today for lunch. I should have stayed home, but last night was for my brother's birthday and today I got to spend time with some friends from work, so it was…
  • I think what she meant was more along the lines of toning and strength training. You can burn calories doing a lot of stuff, but you will eventually get good at something and more conditioned to it, so that you don't burn as many calories during it as well. However, when you are trying to tone your muscle groups, then you…
  • I had the same problem for awhile...my size 18 jeans still fit in the waist but they were baggy in the legs. Then, just suddenly it seemed, they started slipping down aroudn my waist too. It was nice to move into a size 16 when I went shopping the other day!
  • I would be willing to join. I am 32 and my daughter is 7. After I had her, I just had this naive belief that the weight would just fall off and I would be back to where I was before. What actually happened though, was that I continued to eat and gain weight. Then I joined a gym and started getting back to where I needed to…
  • I have the same problem, but usually my sugar goes over because of fruit. I try to eat 2-3 pieces of fruit a day and even that sugar counts toward your totals. However, I don't worry about it so much, since fruit is healthy and filling. I think it depends on where your sugar is coming from.
  • I feel the same way you do about forcing yourself to eat all of those calories. I am to the point now, where I have gotten used to eating less, and I don't want as much. When I do eat all of my calories I'm too full and I feel like I'm cheating again, even though I'm not. Granted, I have a lot more weight to lose than you,…
  • I hope that is true. I plan to start a pi-yo class today at my gym. It is pilates and yoga combined. It would definitely be nice if it would help me lose some pounds and inches.
