I would do some research to see if there are any running groups in your area. I found that to be super helpful. Ours hold a clinic each year with speakers followed by group runs. You're likely to receive lots of advice. So with that I say - listen to everyone, follow no one. :)

I'm a little late to the party, but here are the running goals I have set for 2014:' 1. Run 2014 miles (or more) 2. Run a sub 4 hour marathon 3. Beat current 1/2 marathon time of 1:55. 4. Run injury free.

I have a copy of this on the bookshelf, unread. Time to dust it off!

Another vote for beets!

Another vote for the spiralizer here! I <3 mine! Super easy to use and a great way to get my kids to eat zucchini :)

I have too many favs to list them, and I don't know your food preferences, so I'll give you some websites you might like to check out. Happy Herbivore Skinny Taste - not all vegetarian but several are, and tasty! Thug Kitchen Oh She Glows

Another runner here!

Exactly!!

I have the Feed Zone Portables book. Another vote for it - I really like the recipes. I prefer to fuel as naturally as possible, but for my long runs I do use oranges, bananas and honey stinger gels or chews. I usually stick to taking in a food or gel every 4.5 - 5 miles for the long runs. I can generally run about 12…

The cherry cola chews are the bomb, as it the pomegranate acai gel!
-
I really like the honey stinger products. I switch between the gel and the chews. The waffles are good too; feels more like real food. Otherwise I like dates or almond butter and banana wraps. Sometimes I add in a few pretzels sticks around mile 20.

Another vote here! I found myself running my long runs too fast and my fast runs too slow for a long time. After making the switch, my body no longer feels so beat up and I'm running better.

Great advice! I have done Twin Cities and if you are a crowd/big race lover, you will love this one. Do some hill training to prepare - it's not a flat course. Good luck! MM #7594

There is a group called Happy Herbivores that you might be interested in. Great job on your weight loss!!

I find my cravings are usually driven by some sort of emotion. Usually it's boredom. I can have a lot of work to do, but my if my mind isn't challenged, boredom sets in and I start craving foods that I normally try to limit. Also, if I have been working a lot and getting less sleep. Just some other things to consider.

I'm curious if you created a recipe for this in your log, and what the calories ended up at for each cupcake? I can/will enter it if you haven't already, just thought I'd save myself the steps.

Weigh each item then add them individually to your food log. If you eat this combo frequently, you can save it as a meal for the next time.

There are some great suggestions here! I also like skinnytaste. Her recipes still have a lot of flavor without breaking the bank - calorie wise. Maybe post your typical Thanksgiving meal and we can give some more specifics. I also like to start my day off with some movement. I usually participate in a local race that…

Thanks - that's what I ended up doing.

This sounds great. I think I will make it this weekend and maybe add in some spinach and kale.

Dinner can be quick and easy, really. We use our George Foreman or outdoor grill a lot. 1. Grilled chops, baked sweet potato and a green veggie such as green beans, steamed kale, grilled asparagus 2. Baked or grilled chicken, oven roasted root veggies and squash 3. Baked or grilled white fish, brown rice and a veggie of…

Looks easy enough - just my style :)

Marking my place to read later ;)

I stand behind her and support her. She has worked hard and looks great.

These sound good! I tried some pre-made frozen ones and YUCK!

I have found I can run about 5 miles pretty decent without eating breakfast first. When I am planning a longer run, I get up early enough to allow time for a meal. I usually eat 1/2 c oats made with almond milk and 1 tablespoon of special dark cocoa with a little sweetener of choice. My backup breakfast is bagel with a…

If you are trying to stretch the budget, I think tofu is a little pricey, as well as many of the other "meat alternatives". What about eggs? If you aren't going meatless for ethical reasons, they are pretty inexpensive. I like to use a lot of squash and sweet potatoes. Oatmeal and homemade soups are also great. Black beans…

Those that have posted pictures - you look ah-maz-ing!!

Those who have tried some of the recipes, which ones were your favorites?
