It's easy to underestimate calorie intake. It's also hard to estimate calories out! No slam to MFP but if I put in 30 minutes on the elliptical it credited me with 450 calories burned. Then I decided to get the Body Media Armband. I actually burn 300. But that INCLUDES my basic metabolic rate for that time as well so it's…

Congrats! It's way harder than I thought! In April I could only do 7minutes on the elliptical at 6mph - Now I can do 30 and was able to do the whole 5K (3.15mi) in 30 so I signed up for a 5K. So I went to a park and decided to do a 'real' 5K run and OMG - barely ran 2/10 of a mile! (Best guess...) I alternated…

I haven't had any issues with it on my arm and pain or discomfort. I did pull it down off my arm too quickly before hopping in the shower and felt like I had removed skin with it because it had been in the same place too long! Now I'm just sure to lift the device up off the skin before I slide it down my arm. :) I wear it…

I disagree, respectfully. They are not equally accurate. Yes, it measures steps with an accelerometer. But it also has sensors that press against your skin to detect temperature, heat flux as well as motion. It only makes sense that a device that measures more things is more accurate. FDA studies have proven it's 95%…

Body Media does measure calorie burn and is 95% accurate. It measures based on body temperature, movement and galvanic skin response. It is not like a fitbit. :) I can walk FAST at 5mph. :) ETA the mph figure is based on the elliptical mph feature and 'feels' like I'm walking very fast/light jogging.

Unless you have some reason to be on this diet, that is a ridiculously low amount of carbs. How many total calories? Because it really is all about calories in/calories out. I try to meet my protein goal (to keep muscle while losing fat) and my total calorie goal but the protein is the only macro I track. The majority of…

My trainer agrees. He says to make the most of the elliptical, I should lift first which burns the 'sugar' in my blood (he used more complicated terms but I'm relaying it as I understand it on my level!) so that, by the time I hit the elliptical, I'm starting ketosis and burning fat. I've been doing this a month now.…

I have the link. I'm looking for a Garmin HR monitor so they can interface. But meanwhile, I would say if you are only a jogging and slightly out of breath, that is probably accurate. At 46 and a HR of 165 for about 20 minutes, it would seem that I should be burning more calories because it feels like I'm busting my hump.…

I am taking one - it is Phentermine 37.5mg tablets. I am seeing a doctor who is a board certified bariatric physician. He said it would only be effective for about 2 months but I wanted to try it to get me over the "hump" while my body adjusts to fewer calories so I didn't want to chew my arm off. I needed to make my…
