Is 4'9" tall for a 9 year old boy? I keep seeing "tall for his age" and I am just curious as a mom to an average height kid.

You would think that he is already getting exercise, since he is obviously in PE. I guess I would ask him if he wants to get faster at running, or if he wants to take up a sport, and follow his lead. It sounds like he would like to be in better shape but needs guidance. I went running with my son in the mornings all…

It sounds like pee, but it wouldn't hurt to give your doctor's office a call. I usually pick my belly up and shift a bit as I'm finishing and there is ALWAYS extra LOL

If there is a reason you cannot nurse your baby, I think it would be a lot less pressure on yourself to pump as you are able and be open to formula supplementation. Exclusively pumping is very difficult and expensive, and also costs you time with your little one.

You can customize your goals instead of picking a # of lbs to gain, and it will let you submit a set number of calories.

I tell my husband way more than he could ever possibly want to know, but I'm not sure I'd classify the personal decision to eat less food as a secret.

If he is unsupportive, then she shouldn't tell him she's trying to lose weight. She should find a weight loss support group such as this one and get her encouragement there. If I felt that my husband was buying calorie-heavy foods specifically to sabotage me, I would stuff it deep in the trash. Of course, you can lose…

It went into effect at the beginning of 2013, but there are plenty of rules around it. For one, the Act didn't specify what kind of pump so some cover hospital grade rentals and others cover only a handpump. You also have to go through the DME supplier that contracts through your insurance company, so you have to get the…

Congratulations! I set my calories to maintenance at first and am now slightly above. MFP has been great. This is the first time I've ever been both pregnant and in control of my weight. Even if you don't eat perfectly, staying accountable by logging will at least nudge you in the right direction when you feel like doing…

If you are planning for a certain type of birth, are not having a doula, and get an instructor who is in line with the type of birth you're aiming for, I'd say they are a good investment. You will have some idea what might happen, what your options really are, how to deal with it, and your husband/partner will have a…

Wearing the same jeans I was wearing last October... but I'm 5 mos pregnant.

If you are eating right then your body is doing exactly what it needs to do. Just as weight loss isn't linear, your pregnancy gain isn't, and labor won't be either! Sure they expect you to gain a lb a week. They also will expect you to dilate x cm per hour. But nobody ever does things exactly on that schedule, and a good…

I have officially updated my weight ticker. Prepregnancy weight: 163.8 Weeks 1-8: Continued to lose Weeks 8 - 19: 159.8 20 weeks: 162.2 Net gain = -1 My original goal was to stay under 200lbs and I think it's looking good so far.

I didn't realize that. It reminds me though, that on the ipad app, the negative calories don't show on your dashboard... it might show that you only have 100 calories left for the day but then when you go into your diary it shows the right amount.

I wonder if it's because I cloth diaper but I love my changing table. It's been much more useful to me than a stroller or crib (although any central diapering set up would do, but it would look a lot like a changing table in my opinion).

Were you diagnosed with gestational diabetes following the failed test? I would probably be extra cautious and want to know the results, if I had failed previously. I passed the test easily with a crappy diet, so I suspect a lot of it is just the luck of the draw.

There are three ways to do it. I would probably just add the extra calories in because then it will proportionally add the macros at the percentage you chose, and you won't be in the red every single day (but the 5 week projection will be way off). I logged it as food with my last little guy but I'm just going to customize…

Oooh, and grab one of those baby first aid kids with the thermometer, baby tylenol etc... they always have their weirdest symptoms in the middle of the night.

I think safety is probably the most important thing to know right off the bat. The rest of the stuff you can just figure out. Car Seat for the Littles is a great page on facebook and car-seat.org is a website with lots of helpful members, people who can figure out what infant seat is going to install most easily in your…

Samantha, that is quite an exhaustive list! Fortunately, our hospital seems to line up with our preferences for the most part. And hopefully I will get there are 9 cm and it wont ever come out of the bag...

Heres what I have so far. I just hope all the important stuff is communicated clearly. I had my first VBAC here in December 2011, when we welcomed Charlie into the world, a 10lb 14 ounce baby boy. Although it’s a bit of a drive from our home, I recommend (hospital) to everyone. I am here to VBAC another (big?) baby. Labor…

Some of the things I included are that I'm a hard stick for bloodwork and IV purposes, that my kids have a had reaction to the eye abx, and that I want wireless telemetry. My birth plan last time was a little longer but I found that a lot of the things that mattered to me were already part of the hospital culture.

I've made the breakfast muffins before, with the eggs and chopped bacon, and they were a hit, you could also do a make ahead egg sandwich. http://stormthecassoulet.com/2013/03/26/bacon-egg-cheese-muffins/ http://www.homebeccanomics.com/2011/09/14/make-ahead-and-freeze-breakfast-sandwiches/

I really don't think her OB would approve it if it wasn't safe. All of my providers have been extremely cautious about what they recommend as okay for pregnant women to do. I can't imagine that a bunch of people on the internet know better than this mom and her doctor, so I say good for her.

I'm not interested in genetic testing so didn't get it done. I am having one ultrasound and it will be by a MFM specialist, so if there are any major problems with the baby's organs, they would be discovered. There are some issues that are particular to Down Syndrome, and those issues would be a concern to me, if the baby…

I actually found that things evened out a little more by the 8-9 month mark and I didn't have those kind of fluctuations, but it was very normal for me in the initial post partum period. Lose 7lbs one week, gain a pound the following week.

We moved with a 1 yo and no job prospects for one of us (me) and it worked out. It was easier to find a job once I was living in the area. I had a temp job turn into the breadwinning job. We even lived in the one bedroom apartment with one child, and a couple of years later bought a nice house and decided to have more…

I set mine to 2000 which is a little above maintenance. I haven't gained any weight yet so I have stopped worrying about occasionally going over. I think I will have a gain this week (going on 19 weeks). I've tried to listen to my body more than ever. I had a few days where I went WAY over my calorie goals, it was like I…

How annoying! Maybe having less of a jackpot would make it less competitive. You could still have all the good stuff that goes along with a weight loss challenge - people openly talking about food and exercise, sharing recipes, walking at lunch, etc - without feeding the greed.

Well, I have 6 jars in the house right now. One with the oil separated, a honey roasted local possibly organic one (just to see how it tastes, oh it's good), a smores flavor from the same place that my kid had to have, a couple peter pan and planters jars. Some in the fridge, some in the cupboards. It's a bit out of…
