  • Having stronger abs will probably help keep you from getting diastasis recti but if you do crunches with separated abs it will exacerbate the separation. If it's an easier labor you're looking for, make sure you don't cancel out all your hard work - websites like spinning babies can help you figure out if your baby is in…
  • Sometimes I have egg whites if I'm trying to "save up" for a big meal later and need to squeak by for breakfast. It happens once or twice a month, though, while eating whole eggs happens on a daily basis :) It's not the fat I'm worried about, it's the overall calories.
  • I gained 7lbs in December, was okay with gaining 4-5, so I did blow my goal by a little bit.
  • granola bars nuts baby carrots & hummus yogurt and honey (I keep large containers in the break room) apples/oranges/bananas cottage cheese
  • 7 degrees when I drove in this morning. Not unbearably cold since I don't have to be out in it for more than a few minutes at a time, but my driver side door was frozen shut.
  • Prepregnancy weight: 163.8 Weeks 1-8: Continued to lose Weeks 8 - 19: 159.8 20 weeks: 162.2 22 weeks: 164.6 23 weeks: 165 25 weeks: 166 28 weeks: 175 30 weeks: 177 32 weeks (Christmas OUCH): 181 33 weeks: 181 (Phew!) Goal: Just stay under 200! Expecting to go another 9 weeks if past pregnancies are any indicator... also, I…
  • I had about a week where baby must have had a growth spurt and I felt like I couldn't possibly get any bigger, but things are evening out now. I'm 32 weeks but I have 10lb + babies.... This little guy feels big AND is super active. I'm also told I can't possibly make it to my due date, which is annoying since I do make it.…

Probably shouldn't have taken a break from logging, but there was so much food prepared by Other…
  • I posted my ultrasound pic on the office bulletin board with the text Yes, I am. They spend so much time with us.. they can't help but notice. At my first workplace, 7 years ago, I just told the office gossip and let people come up to me with congratulations, rather than awkwardly going around trying to work it into…
  • I think it's an interesting idea but I always forget to take pills, so I don't want to spend $150-$300 on encapsulation only to forget to take them. I have heard of freezing it in pieces and using it in smoothies.
  • I have to say that my husband didn't really want to go anywhere with the baby to the point where having his own diaper bag was meaningful (also, ours is pretty neutral, I prefer a plain messenger style). I think a guy baby carrier might be a good investment, though. Lisa mentioned the Ergo, and that is pretty dad-friendly.
  • Oh, one thing that helps is to see my belly getting bigger. If you can't see the number on the scale because your belly is in the way, OBVIOUSLY the number should have gotten a little bigger, and obviously it's not pounds of fat. I think the inner dialogue has to change a little bit. The waffling in my head looks something…

  • Your goal is to stay under a 28lb gain, which I think is right on the line. Try not to obsess but yeah, I totally am watching my ticker go back up and getting a little twitchy as the number gets smaller. But I keep it up there because I like that there's still a number :)

  • If I were to carry 30 pounds for 20 minutes, it would be an extra 20 cal.

Getting kind of scared by the weight gain, but I am logging every bite. Even though I am gaining 2lb per week, I am not eating 7000 additional…
  • Festive and yummy - grape tomatoes and spinach tortellini on toothpicks, arranged around a pesto dip. http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/tortellini-appetizers-2
  • Having my third boy. My husband is one of six boys and between them there are 14 children. 13 are boys. So I can't say I am surprised. Fortunately, I'm really happy being a boy mom. :D
  • I would talk to your doctor more about the weight thing if you are planning to follow his recommendation. If he knows that you are intentional about nutrition and fitness he may not care what you gain, since you know how to turn around and lose it in a healthy way :) When I met with my midwives, I think I seemed a little…
  • Speaking of forgetting appointments, I did just that yesterday morning >,< Lisa, it helps to go some place like car-seat.org because the techs there will give you specific advice about your car and carseat. Seriously, there is no way you could know it all (unless you did the week long course, maybe!) Handle up or down on…
  • I have a terrible time remembering numbers that I always use (debit pin, etc) and can't seem to orient when I want to pull up to a gas pump... always end up the wrong way!
  • Prepregnancy weight: 163.8 Weeks 1-8: Continued to lose Weeks 8 - 19: 159.8 20 weeks: 162.2 23 weeks: 164 25 weeks: 167 27 weeks: 171 Wanted to wait until the third tri to hit 170 but was ravenous last week, so I tried to fill up on healthy foods and go with the flow. I was one of those people, and the I just wanted a…
  • I think that the weight gain thread is going to attract people who are gaining very little, and higher gainers are less likely to post there, so don't use it as a guideline! Personally, I just keep tracking away. Even when it's a horrifying mess of pastries and old halloween candy. I am not a "listen to your body" person…
  • Oh, pretty much everyone. I was out right around the 10 wk mark, and before that it was family and close friends.
  • Macrosomic babies have an elevated risk for SD, sure, but most cases of SD occur in babies under 8lb13oz because most babies are smaller than that. I'm sure the data is useful for broad purposes but not sure how it applies to individual women, since controlling the size of the baby is tricky stuff. SD is, according to ACOG…
  • Yes, you can lose weight without eating meat. Anna has broken it down pretty well. :) Experimenting with beans, tofu, and new and different vegetables was helpful for me, although you can just eat less of what you already eat to lose weight. Greek yogurt and eggs are probably a bit part of my protein intake. So true about…

OK so here we are at almost 26 weeks and my scale broke... so technically I have no idea, but I was 170.8 at my midwife office and they've…
  • Third boy on the way! Love being a boy mom... called it from day one ;)
  • BMR isn't your maintenance. If you set MFP to "gain 1/2 lb per week" you'll get your maintenance plus 250. If you want to do the math yourself, there are a lot of pregnancy websites that will give you their own formulas. What I do is set it to maintenance and eat more if I feel like I need more :)
  • As a clueless vegetarian, I made shredded pork in the crockpot last time I had frozen pork sitting in my freezer. The "aroma" was pretty strong, and meat smells don't usually bother me. FYI.
  • A pillow between your knees can be really helpful, if you're not doing that already.
