A pound per week is a healthy amount to be losing. I'm on a schedule to lose 70lbs...and I'm only alotted to lost 2 pounds per week (although I've been lucky...7lbs the first week, 2lbs for week 2 & 3lbs in week #3). Good luck & keep at it

Congrats on the smaller britches! I'm going to have to do the same thing soon - right now, all my weight is coming off of my a**, which means a perpetual case of "Plumbers Butt"...ha ha!

That kinda reminds me of "The Biggest Loser"...usually near the end of each series, they make them put on a "fat suit" that weighs what they've lost and then make them do a challenge both with & without the suit so they can see the real difference. Amazing, isn't it?

Don't get too discouraged this early into the game...as a trainer once told me (and it's been said many many MANY times here on the boards), "You didn't gain the weight in a week...don't expect to lose it in a week!" Just keep at it and it'll work out in the end for you! JW

Also in Alberta...Edmonton to be exact! And all you crazy Yanks on here crack me up...you think 30 degrees Farenheit is cold - you should try it here in January...when it's -40 Celcius...plus a Windchill...ha ha! JW

That's exactly how he was here! Ha ha! Our radio studios are inside West Edmonton Mall and at one point he was yelling at the Mall Walkers, giving hugs to random people, singing songs...it was hilarious!
-
He actually points that out in the interview...he was the first person to use overweight people in his workout videos - he wanted the viewer/user to be able to relate to the people in the video, rather than it being a bunch of skinny stick people who're there just to pretty up the video

I can't seem to post a direct link, so you'll have to copy & paste...sorry

Hey Folks... You want motivation? Try spending 15 minutes with Richard Simmons...holy crap! Ha ha! The radio station I work for had him in the building on Friday morning for a chat... click here for the audio of the interview: http://terrybillandsteve.com/docs/mp3s/richardsimmons022709.mp3 and here for a quick recap and…

I'll usually grab a banana just before the work out (working out on a totally empty stomach makes me nauseous) and then eat my lunch after my work out. I don't know if that's the way you're supposed to do it, but that's what works for me.

+1 I actually just watched a piece on CBC about this about a week ago. They actually did a "blind test" with 3 people...they gave 2 of them a colon cleanser and 1 regular fibre powder for 30 days. The 2 people on the alleged colon cleanser lost nothing. The person on fibre lost 2 pounds - which they attributed to normal…

Ha ha ha! I agree...there are times when I think about counting the calories I'm burning off from the 9000 trips a day from my office to the can!
-
Hey Folks... I just wanted to plug my Blog: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/jeffwyeg I'm going to try to keep it as light and fun as possible...but we'll see where things go  Thanks!

Way to go! I felt the same way when I was no longer out of breath after bending over to tie up my shoes! Ha ha!

Hey Kids (I call everyone "Kids"...ha ha!)... Just a quick question: who here counts housework and yardwork as exercise? And if you do, how do you calculate the calories you burn? I'm just curious because as soon as I finish up with my flight-simming (don't ask...yes - I'm a total geek...ha ha!) I'm heading outside to…

I've been here on this site for 2 weeks now and I am LOVING IT! The people are awesome, friendly and very supportive! As for your little "issue" from earlier today: Don't worry about it! 980 calories is tons! My recommended calorie intake for the whole day is only 1800 calories! You'd be amazed at what you can eat for only…

When I first got on the elliptical, I felt the same way...I almost felt like my feet were getting away from me. However, I upped the resistance on the machine and it actually made it easier for me to "control myself". Now, I've got the resistance up to 8 and I'm loving it! And you will too!
-
That is funny. But I can tell you this: I sweat WAAAAAY more on the elliptical than I ever did on the treadmill...like LOTS. Attractive, eh? Ha ha!
-
I used to do the treadmill but in the last couple of weeks, on the advice of a trainer at the gym, I've moved over to the elliptical. The trainer I talked to told me that I'll burn WAAAY more calories on the elliptical than I will on the treadmill (which I've definitely found to be true), plus I'm also working my…

I know exactly what you mean...sometimes things just don't live up to the hype...ha ha! It's the same reason I've been avoiding McDonalds...I've been so tempted to grab my favourite: Quarter-Pounder with Cheese & Fries and then just eat salad the rest of the day, or hit the gym to burn some of it off. However, I know darn…

So, I've been at this whole counting calories/exercising/eating healthier thing for 2 weeks now, and everything seems to be going well. Stepped on the scale today for my second weigh in...and I'm down 2 more pounds! This is truly awesome...it's nice to be able to actually SEE results! And here's to another 2 pounds for…

Yep...Salad it was and I managed to come in under my Calorie count for the day.

So, I got dragged out for breakfast/lunch to Denny with some friends today, and all I can say is...YIKES! I did a little research into their menu/nutritional info before going there and discovered some very scary stuff...check out their nutritional info here:…

I know exactly how you feel! That sounds like the first time I gave the Elliptical a run...I did 30 minutes on the S.O.B. and that night I thought I was going to die...ha ha! Prior to that I had only been working on the treadmill, which - after talking to a trainer - I discovered really wasn't going to do a lot for "the…

Alright...it's one of 3 things: 1) The scale at the gym was wrong last week when I weighed in 2) The scale at the gym was wrong THIS week when I weighed in or 3) Changing your eating and exercise habits really can have a HUGE effect! I'm going to go with #3! Now, before everyone jumps all over me for losing an unhealthy…

Welcome to the site...I know I'm LOVING the food counter - it's a real eye opener on what you eat! And I LOVE your Avatar..."Sloth loooove Chunk"...ha ha!

First off, allow me to introduce myself: My name is Jeff. I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...I'm 33 years old and I work for a radio station here in Edmonton. I can't even begin to tell you how happy I am that I've found this site! This is exactly what I've been looking for...a well laid-out, well organized site that…
