  • I'm not gonna lie...if I wake up with a hangover, I go straight for the Sausage & Egg McMuffin, Hashbrowns and a LARGE coffee. Then, I make up for it by adjusting the diet for the rest of the day/weekend...ha ha! My 2 cents ;) Jeff @ YEG
  • I don't have arthritis...I was just a self-confessed lazy *kitten* over the summer...ha ha! I'm finally back to the gym and back into a routine - and LOVING IT! Congrats on getting back on the journey! Jeff @ YEG
  • I'm no expert (although I like to think of myself as a "boob afficianado"...ha ha!) but whenever I've seen what you're describing, I've always thought it was more a result of the implants being over the muscles rather than underneath and/or a sub-standard surgery.
  • I think the problem with a "formula" is that there are sooooo many different variables for calculating the calories burned (such as height & weight) and I would guess that the calories burned wouldn't be constant (I know that even if I always do 55 minutes on the elliptical machine, I never burn the same amount of calories…
  • I haven't used it, but I can't see it being all that accurate for calories burned (not like an HRM would be) but I would imagine it would be alright for distance & pace (same as a pedometer would be). There's my 0.02... Jeff @ YEG
  • I really have nothing to add other than this: "Migrating Implants" would be a great name for a band  Good luck on your journey  Jeff @ YEG
  • You could always try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRuNxHqwazs or this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-3qncy5Qfk (Careful...there's some NSFW language in these) Seriously though, watch out for the energy drinks...they can be dangerous and probably aren't the best way to get yourself going. +1 on this...and from…
  • +1 to that...I've had a couple of friends do it and they all said it was expensive, the food was crap and anything they lost, they gained back as soon as they stopped. Why not keep using MFP, watch your calorie intake, eat healthy stuff and exercise? It might take longer but remember: you didn't gain the weight…
  • Never ceases to amaze me how that sometimes works out...ha ha! 2 weekends ago, I went away for a weekend...drank like a fish, ate like a pig. The result: No gain/loss Last weekend, I went to see family...didn't really watch too closely, but didn't go (too) overboard. The result: No gain/loss Sometimes being stuck on a…
  • I generally always eat my exercise calories and that seems to be working alright for me.
  • The stress of being parents of "multiples" can be tough enough (divorce rates are much higher than those of parents of "singles") but imagine the stress of living your life under a microscope on TV. I'm sure they had noble ideas when they first agreed to do the show (a great way to make money & support the children,…
  • Whenever I hit the gym (usually 3-4 times per week) I burn anywhere between 950-1000 calories each time. How do I know this for sure? 3 words: Heart Rate Monitor. If you haven't got one, I'd highly suggest you pick one up! I found out that the calorie counter on the elliptical machines at my gym were shorting me in burned…
  • Nothing weird to report here, although "Tingling Teeth" would be an AWESOME name for a band  Jeff @ YEG
  • I find that if I "fall off the wagon" I start feeling like a giant sack of crap after a few days...ha ha! I recently did the same thing as you...I went away for a weekend to see some friends...drank lots of beer, ate a lot of crap and got no exercise. By the time I got back home, I just felt like complete garbage. Today, I…
  • We had a lot of great meals in Vegas: - Grand Lux Cafe in the Venetian was great with a HUGE menu & lots of selection - Mon Ami Gabi at Paris was outstanding...the best Filet Mignon I've EVER had (I could've cut it with my fork!) - Gonzales Y Gonzales at the New York, New York had amazing Mexican food We also ate at Trader…

  • I spent a week in Vegas and never hit a buffet...NOT ONCE! Honestly, I'd highly recommend staying away from them! Honestly, for what you're going to spend vs. what you're going to eat it's not really worth it - unless you're going to stuff yourself...and that's not what you want to be doing now, is it? Have fun,…

  • I would tend to disagree with you on the "low calorie and low fat mantra" causing the obesity & diabetes epidemic. First off, I don't think that obesity is an "epidemic"...I mean, seriously it's not a disease (although certain groups would have you believe that). It's my belief that obesity is a "choice" (so to speak).…
  • I could've been misreading it (it's soooo hard to tell a person's "tone" is when posting in a forum) but there have been so many posts about "clean eating" on here that they're all starting to look/sound the same to me...ha ha! I totally agree with you on the whole "healthy eating" thing...I know a lot of people personally…
  • I don't mean to hijack your thread or crap all over your ideas, but if you do a little searching around the forums you'll see that this topic has been done to death. Don't get me wrong...I totally see where you're coming from but I don't really see what the point of a post like this is. How a person chooses to lose weight…
  • You say you're doing strength training...are you doing any cardio? When I first started my "journey" I asked a trainer at the gym about doing weights/strength training and he recommended I lay off the weights until I burn off some fat with cardio. 33 pounds later, I think I'm finally ready to start hitting the weights to…
  • I've got the same HRM as you do...the chest strap should be worn with the Polar logo in the middle of your chest (at least that's what I was told). I feel the same way about my HRM as you do; the first time I used it while I was on the elliptical machine, I discovered I'd been burning almost twice as many calories as the…
  • Funny...it works the same way on guys  Jeff @ YEG

  • I agree with Lucky on this one...GO FOR IT! One night is not going to screw you up...trust me - I just spent a week in Las Vegas and still managed to lose 1 pound (of course that might just have been from bringing back a lighter wallet...lol) +1 on that point too! Just because they're serving it up doesn't mean you…
  • Regardless of what you might think about the responses you've received, I don't think anyone here is chastizing you - just being honest. And I think that's what all of us need sometimes...and it's probably why all of us are here: because we're honest with ourselves...we've realized that we NEED to make a change and that's…
  • Just wanted to share  I started this journey on February 6th, 2006...I made the decision to change my life & my lifestyle. I was 295lbs (the heaviest I'd ever been), completely out of shape (bending over to tie my shoes was cardio for me), eating total crap on a regular basis and I was constantly feeling worn down &…
  • Hey Kids...I thought I'd share this thought I had tonight... Other than the inches coming off the tape measure & the numbers on the scale getting lower, sometimes it's hard to notice any results of any kind. I mean I do notice some things (my shirts & pants feel looser, I see some "definition" in my body, I can squeeze…
  • Something I've noticed in the MFP community - and someone tell me if this is wrong but: If you have to ask if something's healthy...then it probably isn't  Eat healthy, get some exercise and you'll be amazed what you CAN accomplish  Jeff @YEG
  • :drinker: THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR SAYING THIS! I was just thinking about this today while I was at the gym...if you want to eat nothing but organic food, completely pure, grown 100 miles (or less) from your home then good on you! And if I want to eat regular old stuff, full of preservatives, trucked in by an…
  • That's pretty much how I've been doing it & it's worked for me so far :) That being said, I've also been trying to pay attention to my fat intake as well - which is where you could end up "paying for it". I've had a tough time keeping within the fat intake limits (really, I just love my XL Double-Doubles from Timmy's…
  • Tomorrow is another day...forget about the past & think about the future :) It's all good...you're doing fine! Jeff @ YEG
