  • I agree with mom2dms. Medication is not forever, but it can help you get over the slump you are in...if, indeed, a doctor determines that you need it. I was on a plateau for a long time and, upon discussing options with my doctor, discovered that a food & feeling journal was necessary for about a month. If you write down…

  • I had to throw away every kind of unhealthy foods in my house before I even began losing any weight. If I don't have it here I can't eat it :) It took some getting used to, what with craving sweets and not having any to appease the cravings. It took a lot of mental exercise (meditation, prayer, family support & strength of…
  • Can you get there before her? If you turn on the fan and have it pointing down the treadmill lane before she gets there, maybe she won't mess with it. Another option is to take the time one day to introduce yourself to her all friendly like. If she is on a first name basis with you and gets a smile and kind word from you…
  • I never even considered almond milk. I thought about soy milk, but haven't tried yet. They are both much more expensive than cow milk but if it makes a difference in my weight loss then I will try it. Thanks! :)
  • I LOVE Zumba! My only issue is that there are no estimates out there on how many calories one burns doing a Zumba workout. I do not have a "bodybug" or a like tool, but I do take my pulse reading every 15 minutes of the workout and I am at my peak heart rate for at least 50 minutes of the 60 minute time frame. It's awesome!
  • OH, Thanks! I didn't know Adkins had a shake option. I will definitely check it out :) I like the way you eat a little something with the shake, but does this cut carbs out totally? I use carbs to fuel up for my workouts, so I can't cut them out all together...
  • Thank you for the advice! I do watch my calories closely enough to not eat my entire allotment in one meal ;) I am concerned about being hungry though. One of my issues with my food addiction is the hand to mouth fixation. Since I don't smoke, eating is the only way I get that fix :( But I'm trying to keep my hands busy…
  • Thank you for the sugar suggestion, but I did read the labels. The fact is, one shake (mix only) has 6 grams of sugar, and with 8oz. of skim milk has 18 grams of sugar (30 grams total carbs). I cannot eat a single serving of most cereals for this, not to mention adding milk to it. If I were diabetic, this would be 2 carb…
  • I respect your opinion :), but I can not stand Frado! I got a little soft in the heart for him when I saw his family, but the way he totally manipulated everybody the whole time just bugged me. There are a couple of people that should be in the final 4 other than Patrick & Elizabeth but they aren't there because Frado…
  • I have a long way to go before I will 'see' any ab results, but I am a mom and am around small children a lot. With the constant bending and lifting of wiggly children, I find a huge advantage in my ab workouts. My back is very grateful that I do them regularly :)
  • It took me a very little amount of time to get away from added salt. It is just as 'convenient' to eat fresh foods as it is to eat packaged foods. If you cut out added salt 'cold turkey' and start using garlic, onion, pepper, dried spices and the like you will find that the flavors are much fuller and livelier than they…
  • I can't stop laughing! That is just tooo funny! I guess that's what he gets for thinking he's all that! LOL!!!
  • I found that switching to whole wheat & whole grain everything added quite a few calories to my diet. And fruits are always a better choice than a preservative laden choccie bar (if you want chocolate, try savoring 4 squares of a dark chocolate Hershey bar) and a small handful of almonds (salt free of course) can replace…
  • MFP told me 1350 cals. for 2 lbs. per week without exercise. That is about what I calculated with the calorie counter tool I got out of a popular diet plan...your current weight x 7 will give you a generally good guess. If this number comes up to less than 1,200 then you are instructed to not go below 1,200. If your…
