When I was doing WW, they suggested to switch up calories as a way to help get over a plateau. Supposedly your body will get used to a certain amount of calories if they are the same day after day. Changing it up a little seemed to help me get off more than one plateau. You really shouldn't go below 1000-1200 calories a…

ALL OF THIS! This is a great thread, and great advice. I got a Fitbit and now feel "blah" if I don't get at least close to 5 miles of walking in every day - crazy! Log everything, and celebrate every day, especially those where you stayed in your calories, but don't beat yourself up when life happens and you veer off…

You all are my inspiration. I do so well when I stick to the tracking, I am promising myself to get back to it. I want to know any secrets. Do you ever have any days you totally go off course and just put in a calorie #, or do you really log every bite?

I agree with the other responses you got. I have "dieted" for 40 years, and finally took off (and kept off) 50 pounds. I asked myself, what can I do to get healthy that I can do for the rest of my life? It all comes down to calories in, calories out. I still fix the same food my family and I like, but I have tweaked our…

My husband is overweight, pre-diabetic, has high cholesterol and his triglycerides are through the roof. He gets no exercise, and doesn't care. For years I have put my own health on the back burner because he would get a bit miffed if I tried to cook healthy. Finally, a couple years ago, I decided to he** with him, I was…

This is great news, good for you! You are so smart, taking care of yourself like you should. My DH is on Metformin (just upped to 3 at meals), BP meds, cholesterol meds, and has stomach issues. I cook healthy for him, but he refuses to eat right when I'm not around - should lose about 70 lbs. SO frustrating!! Go you!!

Congratulations! That's wonderful. I, also, would love some pics and stories and words of encouragement :)

I never realized that I hated shopping until I was finally able to get out of the "plus size" section (seriously....who designs those clothes?) Now I am unstoppable! Finally - a selection!

I buy chocolate flavor coffee and put cinnamon over the grounds. I use coconut milk as my creamer, as it is sweet and creamy. Since finding it, I have given up a zillion year Coffeemate creamer addiction.

I am on Day 15 of the Beginner Shred and am going to start the regular 30 DS when I finish. Can I join?
-
I am doing the beginner shred, but have ordered Ripped in 30 - I'm excited to try it. This is the first exercise I've stuck with it, and I think I can keep at it :)

Excellent post - loved reading it. Way to go!

Being overweight is hard, losing weight is hard, maintaining weight is hard. Pick your hard. My 4 rules when I started, which still hold true: Eat smarter Eat healthier Eat less Move more.

Thank you for all the responses - and the jury STILL seems to be out! I am going to keep using it in my coffee for awhile and see if I notice a difference. I love the taste of it anyway, but I don't like spending my calories on it. Interesting to hear all the different thoughts on the subject, though!

Oh I love it on my skin. I mix it with Vitamin E and use it daily!

12 years ago I lost weight with WW and didn't do any exercise. I gained all the weight back (plus a little,) and started again last winter with MFP and my fitbit. Even though I now weigh about 12-15 pounds more than I did when I got down to my lowest weight with WW, I wear the same size and am much more toned. Mostly I…

Since you're so close to goal, maybe go get a massage or facial or both - then do a big clothing splurge when you hit your goal. Cuz buying new clothes in a smaller size is fun, fun, fun!

I don't know that I've ever posted on here, but I read this thread almost every night - thanks to all of you for helping to keep me motivated!! I love and agree with everything I've read. I've lost 50 pounds total over about 2 years, but got a Fitbit last December and within the last year I have changed my life in so many…

Last February I challenged myself to walk my 10,000 steps almost every day (only missed one,) and log every bite for the whole month - focusing on eating better. By the end of the month, both had become a habit and I've gone from a size 16 to a 10 (being over 50, I'm working on losing about 1/2 lb a week, so it's totally…

Awesome! When I first started, my goal was to get to a size 12. My 12s have been loose on me, and Friday I fit into a size 10. Happy dance!! I know how you feel, and I can't imagine getting into an 8...I've never worn an 8.

I am eating for life, therefore, there are occasional days where I go over my calories for the day. Most days I am below (when I figure in my exercise calories,) so a day here or there where I go over won't make me gain weight. I don't schedule it, it will just happen. I also try to exercise more on those days if possible.…

I (barely) picked up a dog food bag that weighed 55 pounds, which is how much I've lost. Amazing. Also, I started a year ago with my fitbit. I've only lost a little over 20 pounds this year, but with all the working out I've gone from a size 16 to the size 10 jeans I bought 2 days ago. I haven't felt this good in my body…

That is a HUGE success. Never sell yourself short! Congratulations :)

I haven't decided to give it up for good, but I have been gaining and losing the same 5 pounds for months. I am helping out my parents at their retirement home and have been her for 2 weeks. I haven't drank at all, and have lost 7 pounds. Hmmmm.....

WOOHOO! That is great - what an accomplishment. I started in a 1X-2X, and have been consistently wearing a L as of late. Today I fit into a medium!!!! I was so excited, I bought 3 sweaters. Keep it up!

There are so many good posts on here, I don't think I have anything good to add. I have dieted all my life and finally realized that I will never get anywhere by dieting. I will only get where I want to be by changing my life. Find a way of eating that works for you, that you can do for the rest of your life. A lot of the…

I have been doing MFP religiously for 2.5 months and walking 5-8 miles on average per day with my fitbit. Still have about 20 pounds to lose, but have lost over 20. I have been lurking on this thread for awhile, but today had to share a couple things that have recently happened: *Today I had to go in to have blood drawn to…

I quit in March using the forum at About.com. They saved me, and it is the best feeling ever. They do not recognize ecigs as quitting, because the biggest part of the quit is getting rid of the habit, as nicotine gets out of your system in about a week. The habit is the hard part, and the ecig just prolongs that. That…

You are an inspiration to those of us behind you. Way to go!

Way to go! That's fabulous. You should be on cloud nine. Great accomplishment :)
