I don't eat any "white" refined carbs. The only white food I eat is soy/almond milk and yogurt. LOL.

I use the Ortho-Evra patch... BUT it is only effective under 198lbs (says their website). I didn't take any form of birth control after surgery until I got under 198 lbs, because I despise needles (Depo) and an IUD just wasn't practical for me. It is much like the pill, though it is 3 patches and you change them every…

My bariatric team has told me they will not put me on any form of anti-depressant medication as my body will not absorb it fully. They will re-address the situation at one year post-op. I, too, was on Zoloft pre-surgery and it did wonders for me. I asked to be placed back on it, but was told no. It's very frustrating. As…

You say this now, but after the surgery, you will not even WANT to attempt to try it. Your body will still be in shock after 3 weeks and your whole mental state regarding foods and drinks will change. I had my surgery March 23rd and had my first drink post-surgery on May 21st (my birthday). I can stomach about half a…

yes! I avoid ALL situations where eating and drinking is, for the most part. Especially if it's around people that don't know about my surgery and, thus, becoming vegetarian. I am 8 months to the day out (-90lbs, woop!), and still get self conscious about eating, even in front of my boyfriend. It really upsets me when we…

I was told carbs level off blood sugars for a longer period of time.... as they release sugars more slowly. I find if I dont have carbs.......and get tons and tons of protein, I am SO sick with a low. The carbs, for me anyways, stabilize everything.
-
Hey darlin'. Try any source of protein you will like - chickpeas, tofu, mock meats like ground "beef" or "chicken" strips. There are endless possibilities!

Ohhhh, boy! I was just in and out of the hospital with extremelyyyyyyyyy low blood sugars... I was getting episodes of shakes, hot flashes, sweating, passing out, throwing up... after everything I ate. I was told to eat MORE CARBS. I now have to net 25g at each meal and aim for net of 25 at each snack.... so approx 150g of…

vinyasa flow...the transition from plank to chaturunga to updog then downdog..... and in a 110 degree room.... even better! ;)

chest pains and pains that "shoot" across my pouch....and I start breathing heavy. LOL. So weird.

I had my first drink post-bypass after 3 months. I was drunk after 1 drink - and likely before I even finished that drink. I don't drink much now - when out with friends who are drinking, I'll have 1 drink (maybbbeeeeeeee 2 if I'm with them for hours and hours), but I sip it very slowly. I usually get hungry when I drink…

AMAZING! and in 8 months!!! SCORE!!! I am 7.5lbs away from goal............................and it's only been 7 months for me.... I am hoping I can get there by the end of November!!!!!

the day my boyfriend said my weight concerned him............. though, he wasn't doing it maliciously or to upset me. and I specifically asked him if my appearance bothered him - so I guess I should have expected it. Also, growing up, I remember in highschool...kids wrote "butterball" all over my locked in permanent…

Like you, I was eating beans like crazy post-surgery - none of which I ate before surgery. EVER. Black beans, chickpeas, pinto beans, kidney beans, white beans... you name 'em, I eat 'em now. Delicious protein packers. My first craving that I remember was pita with cheese whiz (ew!!!!????), egg salad and hummus. Clearly I…

I lost 60 in the first 3 months. After that, it slowed to about 5 per month and now it seems to be staying at that rate.
-
I was never a cottage cheese person, for the longest time. Try blending some with salsa...creates an awesome dip for veggies/crackers or as a sauce for sweet potatos or chicken!!
-
do you like cottage cheese? I have 2 or 3 Wasa or Ryvita flatbreads with cottage cheese, grape tomatoes and taco seasoning. MMMM!

Snacking, for me, being 7 months post-op, is a life savour. I absolutely NEED my snacks. Try increasing your protein NOW to do away with grazing and bad snacking. If you do snack, just snack on some cheese/veggies/hummus/fruit/nuts/yogurt. Healthy snacks for life! :) After w or 3 weeks, your body won't crave pop anymore. I…

hey girls. I just wanted to update ya: I was in to see the diabetes nurse and my dietician at my bariatric clinic yesterday because I have been having problems with my blood sugars (and iron, but that's a whole other ball game). Basically, my pancreas is working in overdrive and they used the term "super pancreas." The…

yeah, mine snuggle up and lay on me too................it was really hard telling them NO after surgery :(

I take a prenatal as well as calcium citrate, D3, B12, C, biotin and iron...........since the prenatal only gets absorbed about 50-60% of everything in it.

I stayed with my parents for a couple days, and then my mom stayed with me overnight at my place for a couple days. I was in an absurd amount of pain and had trouble getting up and down and out of chairs/beds/sofas, etc. I even needed assistance walking for the first couple of days. I have two dogs, so I needed someone…

My sugars are quite high too - but the sugars aren't coming from actual white sugar..... here's my diary for yesterday: Calories: 1185 Fat: 46 Protein: 78 Fibre: 19 Carbs: 124 Sugar: 29 And here's my diary for today: Calories: 1153 Fat: 40 Protein: 90 Fibre: 20 Carbs: 136 Sugar: 33 I don't think I'm off at all - but yes, I…

I get between 120-150. Carbs store energy and release sugars more slowly and steadily. I am already iron-deficient and lacking in blood sugars, and my dietician said to incorporate more into my diet as I was like you, keeping them under 50. I eat GOOD carbs now, sprouted whole grains, etc, no carbs from fatty and/or sugary…

YES! THIS!! Every single time, all my friends say, "You didn't look that big." I sum it up as them being able to see past my weight issues.... and they didn't judge me based on how much I did weigh.

A calorie really isn't just a calorie. One calorie of saturated fat is far different than 1 calorie of trans fat. 1 calorie of sugar is far different 1 calorie of carb.
