  • Makes perfect sense. I was "built" in middle school and early high school and then went up from there. I have never been a healthy weight as an adult. Until the last year I have been well over 200 with a high at 297 lbs at 5'3". Crazy. I have lost about 110 lbs over the last 3 years and still see myself as the big girl. I…
  • Exactly! I call it my free day for this reason. This is usually on Sunday. I allow myself an extra 1,000 calories but I rarely even hit that now. The further into your journey you get the more you realize that you can't physically eat like that. It's a good thing! The extra intake on occasion can actually help shake up…
  • I log everything in the morning. I do pack my lunch and snacks so those are ready to go. Then as I eat food throughout the day I double check to make sure nothing changed. I also add my water as I drink it. It helps me to keep track and make sure I am getting it all in. By logging my day right away in the morning, I have…
  • I remember at 220 lbs (5'3" tall) thinking that I should join a fitness boot camp. Brilliant! I even called and asked if there were any big girls in the class and was told yes. Well...I walked in the first day to a group of 20 women that were no where near big girls. The largest one was maybe 10-20 pounds overweight tops.…
  • I love when people notice. It reinforces the pride that I have in myself. What I find amusing is when people say "What's your secret" and my answer is I don't eat processed food and I exercise - It's that simple. What they really want to hear is that I took a magic pill that is doing it all for me so that I don't have to…
  • Good for you girl - Way to take your life back!
  • My OCD kind of took over for awhile. I have cut WAY back on the amount that I track. I just use MFP. If I find something especially interesting as it relates to my journey I will blog about it. I have recently went back to a simpler eating plan that didn't involve so many steps. I find that the more food I have in the…
  • This is exactly what I do. Planning is half the battle. If I can plug in my meals right away in the morning, I can see where I am at and have room to adjust as needed. Without that knowledge, I would not be able to stay within my calorie/fat/carb/sodium goals.
  • I was heavier when I was younger so I took a summer and got in really good shape. I exercised all the time and was very fit. That lasted through high school when I went on Depo Provera and gained 100 pounds in 3 months. It kind of went up from there. Until a few years ago, I maintained that to "protect" myself from the…
  • Between my highest and when I started my "official" journey I lost 21 pounds. I started my official journey 01/01/2012 and lost 53 pounds that year. 2013 I maintained it. YTD I have lost another 25.8 pounds. So, total I am .8 pounds shy of 100 pounds down from my highest with another 67 to go.
  • I do carb cycling and so on low carb days I eat a lot of unsalted peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds. Hardboiled eggs. I try to stay away from as much processed as I can but also Cottage cheese and Lower sodium cheeses (swiss, etc.) That has helped me get my calories up without all the carbs.
  • First thing for me was I cut soda out of my life. Even if I'm sick, I have a hard time drinking 7up because I conditioned it so hard that it was not helping me.
  • Donated ALL of the clothes in my closet that had a 2X size on them.
  • 50 in 2012, maintained in 2013 and lost another 20 so far this year - anticipating the remaining 75 will be gone by the end of the year at my current pace - I completely agree that tracking definitely helps :)
  • For some reason I can't get pictures :) So here's the link to my blog for my face off! http://www.fatandfightingit.com/2014/03/face-off.html
  • I personally like a product called Lights On. It's natural. You don't have the crash like you do with energy drinks. It comes in packets which are super convenient.
  • I think a lot of people confuse skinny with healthy. Someone could be 100 pounds and have plugged arteries from all the bacon cheeseburgers they eat. I also know many heavier people that are the picture of health. Bottom line: You are the expert on your body. If you feel like you would be healthier with more weight/muscle…
  • I agree that if you love doing it then it can be addicting. A few months ago I found a trainer online (Keaira LaShae) that works for me. She keeps me motivated and challenges me. I also love to dance so that helps too. I can do my workouts in the comfort of my own house. I actually started watching her on Daily Burn - a…
  • I weigh myself once a week on Sunday and track that. The only other time I log my weight is if I have to weigh in on a Diet Bet. Gains can be from anything so I mark those too so I can make sure I know how to prevent it in the future.
  • 5 am my alarm goes off. Usually I hit snooze once to make me feel better :) I am typically in bed by 9.
