  • Someone said that walking is not a great way to do weight loss....I disagree. I started walking about the last week of May, so about 3 months now and have lost 46 pounds. I had a big drop at first and now average about 2 to 3 pounds most weeks. The goal is to get in just under what MFP has given you for your daily calorie…
  • What a great post!! I have never been flexible, even as a teen, and now that I am in my fifties it's even worse. The fact that I can now start using a towel to teach my shoulder muscles to let go a little sounds doable. Thanks for the tips.
  • AHA, I knew I had this saved some where, this is suppose to be a 9 week program: Week Workout 1 Workout 2 Workout 3 1 Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of…
  • I don't run do it arthritis and joint problems, but I can tell you if you have not run/jog in a long time there is a set way to get back into it without killing yourself. I know that someone will probably post the correct times and solution on here for you... But it goes something like this. Start out walking for two…
  • I am not a power walker, but do try and get a good walk in each day. I sometimes have to break my walks into 2 or 3 a day depending on my working schedule. But I listen to my body really well....if it is just saying I'm a little sore this morning, than I know a good walk will flex the muscles back out and I will feel…
  • Congrats on joining the rest of us who struggle through losing weight, but keep on trying. I started the last week of May and have been happy with my progress so far. The hardest part of my journey has been to force myself, each and every day out the door to go walking. I was so out of shape I felt just like you, in pain…
  • BFDeal, that is so funny..... (but all kidding aside) It does not matter what day of the week, even if you have rested or not. The weight gain you experienced was probably not all water, but the fact that you are building muscle. As everyone knows, muscle is heaver than fat. If you are looking to loose weight faster, do…
  • It does not matter to me where I walk, just as long as I'm walking. City, Country, Park, Beach, it's the journey that I am on and I can always see amazing things no matter where I walk. I feel good once I am out there and as long as it's at least a 30 minute walk, my mind and body start to relax.
  • Kudos to "AglaeaC" for fixing "that" statement. Why would anyone with low self esteem want to ask their BF or GF if they think they are skinny enough and if they should lose weight? First off, you have put the person you have asked in a very awkward situation. They will either lie to you so as to NOT hurt your feelings, or…
  • totally for ME! I'm at the beginning of what everyone calls a senior citizen. I've not slept well in years, my entire body hurts and I got tired of always feeling this way. It was my own son who inspired me to get going and do something about it. He has lost 100 pounds so far on his journey and I can see how much better he…
  • Umm, I am way older than you and I'm going to have to say that I totally agree with "Shadowofender" on this one. It's all fine and dandy to do make-overs and such to boost your moral. But that is only a temporary fix, because you are not working on the real problem and that is your own self-worth, or self esteem. Jealousy…
  • You are amazing, and what an inspiration to all the rest of us just starting out. Thank you so much for posting this. Bravery to do something starts in our own hearts and when our hearts say "lets do this", the rest of the body must follow. You have inspired me to keep going to loose my 100 plus pounds. Thank you.
  • Wow, you can tell I'm still sleepy this morning, excuse the typos and it should of been MFP.....HA Hang in there, you can do this.
  • You've got this....the really hard part is sticking to it and making better food choices and correct serving sizes. That was my problem, trying to figure out what a REAL serving size is. Even though you have a lot you want to lose, set smaller goals to hit at first so you feel like you are making really good progress.…
  • Never someone that has any type of authority over me. But I also won't date anyone that is old enough to be my parents age, or anyone that is more than a year or two younger then me. When they can't talk to me about things I was interested in when growing up and they are not heading in the same direction I am going in,…
  • Mine is: "If you really want to change, you must be willing to be uncomfortable." This is what gets me through when I don't want to work out, or I get a hunger pain for something I know I should not have.
  • Wow, (really that's all I can say) Wow!
  • Do you have a MOD Pizza place by you? They make a number of pizza's for one person that are under 500 calories, which is less than a number of sandwiches out there. They taste awesome, and you get 4 nice size very thin crust slices and you are eating your own entire pizza, which totally is filling and makes you feel like…
  • I just went back to my start date on May 26th and counted out 5 weeks to see what the difference was from that very first prediction to June 30th. I still needed to lose 7 pounds to fit MFP's prediction...but I still enjoy seeing it pop up at the end of the day. It always reminds me that I WILL get to that next goal.
  • Mid day and sunset. I try to get in two workouts a day if possible. But I find at the end of a busy workday, a nice long exercise walk helps me to unwind and be calm for the rest of the evening. Also helps me to sleep better.
  • You need to reread the post, the person did NOT say that fruit isn't sugar, they said "Fruit isn't JUST sugar"...understanding what has been written is half the battle for some.
  • Honestly, if you are at least getting out and walking 30 minutes a day, that will help curb the binge cravings, even on the weekends. I don't know what you are allowing for your calorie count each day, but even when I go out with friends on the weekend, I find that the meals I order, are barely above the calorie count of…
  • I eat those Pop Secret 100 calorie bag popcorn, but I like the Kettle Corn flavor. It gives me a little bit of sweet and a little bit of salty. If I slow down and eat it one kennel at a time, I am now finding that it satisfies me really well and gets me through my late night of one hour of TV.
  • You are an inspiration to us all....you Rock it girl. Keep up the great work and looking forward to see your progress for that run.
  • Focus on just ONE day at a time. Don't get caught up in worrying about tomorrow. Just today,! Make it through today with everything you need to do to succeed and tomorrow will be easier.
  • Sorry meant to quote Hanabetter's reply.
  • This is a perfect reply to this question. Way to go.
