Agreed. How many people would choose a 3,000+ calorie dish with over 50grams of fat when it is posted right in front of you??? I know I wouldn't!! Especially if you could see a 400 calories dish that looked just as tasty. Things like Outback's bloomin onion definitely isn't on my list of foods to eat when I know that it…

I do the same thing! Sometimes I use baked chicken breast instead but just some spinach, tomatoes, tuna or chicken, and sometimes not even oil just some balsamic vinegar. It actually tastes REALLY good to me and has barely any calories!!

I too have been trying to eat small meals throughout the day. I usually have some raw macadamia nuts and a banana for breakfast, then I workout, then after I workout I eat a baked chicken breast (for the protein) with only pepper on it, and when I go to work (since I work nights) I make sure to take a few options with me.…

Yeah on recovery I usually try to do a little something to burn some calories but wasn't sure about what I should do on my actual OFF day, so I walked my dog for an hour and felt good. :) Does anyone else have trouble doing the cardio recovery workout? Not all of it- but when you HOLD the squats/lunges?!? I GET SOO SHAKY…

One cheat meal won't kill you-but do it smartly. Instead of a fast food sandwich + fries + a soft drink, JUST get the sandwich. Or if you really want something unhealthy, work out a little more to help burn it off. If you eat a piece of pizza, go for a walk when you are done to jump start your metabolism. If you deprive…

Whoops sorry for the double post...not quite sure how that happened? Anyway- going somewhere that does have fatty options doesn't mean you can't order something that isn't absolutely horrible for you. Just order smart. Eliminate fried options, sauce on the side, no cheese (or easy cheese) and no extra butter. It is easy to…

I say it is your birthday so pick your favorite restaurant and GO! If you'll feel bad about it, just workout more that day. I used to think I wouldn't want to work out on my bday but I always do now- it releases endorphins and makes me feel a lot better when I have on my cute outfit/dress! Plus-any restaurant you go should…

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I definitely need a tape measure too. I can already feel that my tummy is getting smaller, I wish I had measured before hand to really know but I can see more definition and that is only from 2 weeks!! Also-I strongly recommend everyone to get a heart rate monitor!! I had been looking at other…

Exactly! I switched from margaritas (tequila has a lot of calories-and sweet and sour/mixers do too!!!) to things like Vodka + Soda with a lime wedge. A lot less calories, and still the buzz of a good drink. Like she said- everything in moderation. I had to cut down because I was drinking all the time, now once or maybe…

I just posted something similar asking about pre-workout meals/breakfasts. I find it easiest for me when I have something like an apple or banana in the morning, I can eat it anywhere and since it doesn't require cooking it is fast and healthy. Sometimes I eat a banana with some raw macadamia nuts or other nut, just to get…

Thanks everyone! And I think that is true, its hard for me to find a good balance between eating healthy and eating enough. I keep being under my calorie limit and that isn't my goal- I just find myself getting full quicker than normally and even when I eat a TON of fruit and veggies, I am never close enough to my limit…

Hello! Good luck to you. I TOTALLY understand about the eating thing, it is so easy for me to go burn a ton of calories but then eat them all back! Luckily-THIS SITE HELPS! I think the most helpful thing to me is seeing how many calories you can take in on this site. I use it on my iPhone (the app) and it really helps…

What should fuel them then? Should I workout before eating in the morning or after? I am trying to figure out what is healthiest, but usually in the morning I am not hungry at all. If I don't eat breakfast and don't workout, I am not hungry until waaaaaay later in the day and I know that is not good for you since breakfast…

Sounds like you have been through a lot!! I am also trying to be down by my birthday-in June as well! :) I am hoping to lose about 12 pounds but I know that isn't a lot of time, 16 is a lot of weight to lose before June but I am glad that you will be happy to just be committed to a new routine by then. That is also how I…

I am late to join this but I definitely had been thinking that a group doing Insanity together would be a lot of motivation for me!! I got to day 54 but then I moved, and it completely threw me off track. Since I moved, I have gained about 13lbs and I have not worked out consistently. I started running again, then started…

I live in Vegas and am 22-so yeah, drinking is a big thing for me. I also am a server and most of my friends go out every night after work. There are no "last calls" in this 24 hour town, so it is pretty difficult for me not to overdo it. Since I've been dieting and exercising more, I have tried cutting down to only…

Exactly! They have more muscle mass, and muscle burns fat therefore they lose faster than we do. It sucks-but just be happy for him and concentrate on yourself. Use it as motivation. I am a very competitive person, so I would just make that fuel my workouts to be 3x harder and my eating habits to be 3x better. Good job!…

A wino? For one glass a night? HARLDY! LOL it is weird in Vegas if you don't drink- you would never be called an alcoholic (or wino) for one glass a night! Some people are just against alcohol in general. It isn't like you are drinking a pint glass of vodka a night, it is a glass of wine. And I have heard that red wine is…

I agree with everyone else, especially if it is something you look forward to and is a little treat. 90 calories is not much at all, and it isn't like you are drinking a bottle-its a glass. I tend to agree with the other girl, once I uncork a bottle it usually ends up getting finished, and then some. :) I am trying to cut…

Just read your comment- and I totally agree which is why I posted a comment that was very similar.

I agree with most of everyone else's comments : it IS NOT healthy. If you lose a pound a day it is very, very bad for your body. First off-when you lose weight that quickly, your body will not have time to make the necessary changes. You could end up with extra skin because if the weight goes that quickly then your body…

I'd say good luck but it isn't about luck- It is about determination and self-motivation. This site DEFINITELY helps with it, and if you need any extra support or advice add me as a friend! You are already taking the necessary steps to becoming healthier by joining mfp, so all you gotta do now is stick with it! It feels so…

I tried a raw diet that was supposed to last 21 days....mine lasted 5. It was very tough for me and I did not plan enough. I didn't ease into it either, I jumped right in and it was a total shock. I wanted something to "jumpstart" healthier eating but it was way too strict for me. First off: I am neither vegan nor…

Well if you can quit smoking then you obviously have a lot of determination so you will achieve your goals! I smoked for 4 years and stopped cold turkey. It definitely helped with losing weight, and now that I work out regularly I do not want to smoke! Once in awhile I will have one with friends or with coworkers (whenever…

I totally understand the jeans thing! When I weight 175 I had a pair of jeans that I had never worn-so cute, and one of the BEST feelings in the world was after I lost weight and put them on! I still have them and they are my favorite jeans, it is a great way to keep motivation up! All of these are so great. I love that…

Hello! I am new to the site as well, I have only used the app on my iPhone and today I just accessed the webpage and I love it! There are so many success stories as well as great tips and advice. I hope you reach your goals! I know it is hard to change bad habits/lifestyles but this site really does help. It feels good to…

That is probably a good idea. I need a HR monitor since I lost my last one when I moved. Any suggestions on a good one that isn't TOO expensive? I have heard amazon has some good deals for them, but I want one that tracks calories and has a stopwatch included. Thanks for the input!

It was a bunch of junk, but now I am trying to do as much raw food as I can-spinach, tomatoes, apples, clementines, bell peppers, raw spanish peanuts, etc. I am trying to cut out as much processed food as I can-especially anything white (bread, pasta, sugar). It is tough but the more raw foods I eat, the more I crave them!
