Yes, slowing down when you go into a run (I prefer the term jogging) will help...I'd say you want your heart rate closer to the 140-160 range. The 4.0 mph suggestion is a good start...and yes, breathing and doing your best to find a comfortable rhythm will help. Of course, this all gets easier as you get into better shape,…
