I understand how and when to do the workouts, I am just confused about the use of the log sheets... don't seem to fit with the schedule... hopefully I can figure it out... I did start the workouts Monday but it has been a bad week... we had to put our elderly cat to sleep Monday night... I have been doing the workouts but…

Hi all, I am just starting this program today... I am not new to working out but this will definitely be a good challenge for me. I keep gaining and losing the same 10-15 every year... somehow I need to find a way to keep it off. Where is the best place to look or post questions regarding this workout program. I am…

My humble opinion... these things go in cycles... a few years ago it was the low weights, high reps, now it is the high weights, low reps... Someone else will come up with another book, another study, etc... in a year or 2 telling all these people who are lifting heavy they are wrong. I do whatever I feel like... I change…

Wondering your thoughts on using the less than 20% TDEE for weight loss. I am 5'5 currently about 147ish... I am a runner but currently on the bench so to speak due to runner's knee. I just started going to the gym and doing weight training along with elliptical and precor (about 40 minutes of weight training, 20-40 of…

Believe me, there is more than 1.... I try and avoid actually starting a post. People really take advantage of the anonymity of the cyber world. Best thing to do is ignore it and don't get suckered in to making a response in your defense. I think most are here to help!

I wish I could find a doctor like yours!!! I cannot seem to find a doctor who understands a runner!

check out Kathy Smith's Project You... I think it would be a good start for you.

If I am doing a morning run, I will get up about 2 hours prior to scheduled run, have my hot lemon water, coffee and my usual breakfast pre-run of quinoa with berries. This gives my body time to "digest" the food and I have the energy for a good run. I normally run in the afternoon but on the weekends I try and get it over…

and really watching my calories, well at least during the week days!

I am in the same boat but with runner's knee instead. I am concentrating on upper body weight training and core. I am starting the elliptical but slowly. Want to give the knee as much rest as possible to get back to running sooner rather than later. My doctor said no biking...

I did my first half about 8 months after I started running. I did the C25K program and did a few 5Ks and went right to the half. I was able to run the whole thing. Good luck to you!

I really think they have changed the standards for sizes. Years ago at around 150-165, I wore anywhere from a 12-14. Now at between 140-150, depending on the day, week or month  I can still get into my size 4's. I am just under 5'5"

Is it safe to say that maybe VFF are good for training and low/medium miles and then crossing over to longer distance in regular running shoes?? I just cannot imagine running a half in Vibrams.
-
bumpimg for reading later... currently not running due to patellofemoral syndrome but once I start back might go back to training just in my vibrams that I have only used sporadically.

Planning on starting tomorrow but have to modify, will be basically doing the upper body workouts and stretch at this point. Dealing with runner's knee and need to get that to heal so I can go back to running. Probably will have to hold off on plyo and kenpo for at least 2 weeks at this point and not sure about yoga with…

I had hip pain with running for a year plus.... I was never able to get a definitive diagnose through several second opinions, PT did not help, chiropractor did not really help. It was not until I started seeing an acupuncturist that I became pain free... Not sure if it will work for you but it did for me. I also do an…

My next race is my second half marathon 9/9/2012!

Thanks Reggie! By RMT do you mean a physical therapist?? Hoping to avoid that route for now since this is just a new pain and I am hoping with what I am doing it goes away... but will follow up with my ortho if not as I will need a referral for therapy if such neeeds to be done. I know my ITB is tight, I can tell by self…

When I weighed myself after my last vacation which was the first morning back home, I was up 10 pounds. Most of it was water weight. When I got back to normal eating, no booze, etc... by Friday I had really only gained about 1 pound if that.

Keep it up everyone... this program is for everyone big, small, in between! :drinker:
