Thank you for posting this - so many people ask for cited references and now they have them!

You're from Wales? Is that in England? Um, no, it's a different country, but they're both in the UK. England and the UK are not, I repeat, not, the same thing!

I love this!

As other posters have said, unfortunately people aren't going to take advice seriously from someone whose body doesn't give good advert for the advice. Perhaps you could just start compiling a list of websites, books etc with sound nutritional advice and 'share' them with people? That way they don't have to rely on it…

My friend google tells me that TL:DR means 'too long: didn't read'.

Hi - just letting you know that your words are not dropping unread into a deep pit of nothingness - I like cake too :)
-
hah - I suppose mainstream in terms of type of exercise, but maybe in intensive in how hard I work at it?

I think that for me, I eat less to lose weight, and exercise to get fitter. I have my calorie goal set at a level that is low enough to lose a pound a week and high enough to ensure I never go hungry or feel deprived in any way. I do try and eat my exercise calories on the whole, but that is only so that my calorie deficit…

I would agree that you should make sure your activity level is at least set at lightly active, if not more than that, and then you can feel confident that all those daily playtimes and the rest of your busy life is covered :)

That there is such a thing as Boobie Friday, and that grammar is four letter word! Oh, and don't disagree with anyone. Ever.

There are bullies on both sides of the fence.

Ooh, I wish I could try both of those! My favourite (which I can buy here in the UK) is Vermonster mmmmmmmmmm x

I don't need a PhD in English to correct some of the grammar on this site (not that I would do so anyway); my 12 year old son could make the same corrections! It's not our job to correct each other's grammar, but some of us find it interesting to discuss common grammatical errors. Having said that, I'm sorry if anyone has…

The only eggbeater I've heard of is a whisk, lol! Co-Op do sell egg whites by the carton though if that helps

'incorrectly' - you don't use it 'wrong'!

Sometimes people don't want to hear constructive criticism and find it patronising/judgemental etc, even though that's not how it's meant. It may be that you and this friend are just not 'a good fit', and if you feel you can't support them the way they want to be supported and they're not happy with the support you want to…

Runkeeper (free) and ismoothrun costs a couple of £'s but is well worth it!
-
I log my vitamins even though they have zero calories, because they are vitamins, and I'm tracking some of them! It's not always all about the calories :)
-
Also endomondo and Runkeeper, and all three are free too :) if you want to pay a bit more you can get ismoothrun which is amazing!
-
Ok :-p x I give in!
-
I am aware of that, thank you. Just as you should all be aware that not everyone in the world calls it gas :)
-
As far as I'm aware, the fuel which I use in my car is definitely LIQUID, not gas.
-
Unleaded petrol....I have absolutely no idea what the numbers mean, either!,
-
I stand by what I said - Nationality as per passports as above. Ethnicity isn't something I even think about, but I still go with both, because both parents had equal influence on me growing up!

50/50 American and British

Some really good answers here :) I agree that it's a dangerous thing to make certain things 'forbidden', because they get more attractive then! Over time my taste for different foods has changed. I've tried to substitute almonds and other nuts/seeds for crisps, which were my biggest downfall and still tempt me. If I really…

Endomondo and Runkeeper are both great free apps, but if you are getting an iPhone soon, I'd look at ismoothrun. It costs a couple of pounds but is absolutely brilliant :) Edited to add link: http://www.ismoothrun.com/

That's really interesting! I suppose my point was that it's only a problem if you're replacing food with alcohol and if your calories are about 1200 then it's actually quite a high proportion of your daily calorie intake. As the poster above said, moderation in all things, and keep an eye on the macros!

You don't have to give up wine altogether, but just remember it's not just about calories it's also about nutrition, and alcohol has no nutritional value as far as I know.
