Poor and fat in the US? Fat is a often a portion control (and snacking) issue, addressing that will greatly aid in budgeting for the store. Anyone who makes a commitment to eating right can do so for a similar cost of eating crappy. The issues are typically convenience and planning- not money. There are plenty of good…

That's great! Nice to hear that from the Doc.

Much of it depends on what you are allergic to... my wife is allergic to ragweed and there is no relief she can find. I'm allergic to cedar in a BAD WAY. I make cedar tea and eat a few cedar berries 2 times a year at Nov. 15 and Dec. 7th and I am symptom free for much of the year. I checked pollen.com on all my bad days to…

Try an ice cold glass of water upon waking up... for me it makes me crave more water and I rarely drink a 2nd cup of coffee when I start with water.

I'm not qualified to discredit him, but read enough that I wouldn't bother with it. I did some quick research on cortisol after reading the article. Would suggest you do the same before adopting his plan, as many of the claims would seemingly be countered by well documented research. Any plan that completely disregards…

When I first started working out again (after 20 years off) I hurt for a solid week... after a few workouts, I only hurt a few days, after a few more I only hurt a day. Keep it up and it will get better! Also not a fan of the fast.

Sounds like allergies... never sneezed a day in my life outside of being sick until one day in my 30's, I started having allergies. They got worse for a few years now getting milder. I take claritin on days I run and have no problems during or after my runs.

you didn't cover any distance on the treadmill... you ended up where you started! The phone app didn't recognize the treadmill. The treadmill records all the info you are looking for when you run inside. I used 2 apps- the C25K and a gps running app to track distance, pace, etc. Use the treadmill info in place of the gps…

Maintenance is tough at first... keep logging and act as if you were still losing. (just up the cals to your particular needs) it will take a couple months to get comfortable in MM, at least that has been my experience. I do allow myself to eat whatever is served at outings or when visiting family, etc. and just keep to my…

for what it's worth, I also am less hungry on days I run vs. days I lift. Can't quantify it in calories, but it is a very noticeable difference.

I start a small piece of gum and then just when it's chewed up enough, tuck it in the side of my cheek... don't chew it anymore and it stays flavorful for over an hour and keeps my mouth watering enough not to need water breaks. Of course this assumes you are running a suitable distance not to "need" water for hydration.

Good answers so far. Chicken should also be high on your list... usually you can find bulk breasts on sale (sometimes fresh and sometimes frozen). Also, there are usually a type or two of fish on sale if you eat fish.

Fitbit is a good thing to have. Be sure to calibrate your steps (measure strides and change default settings for walk and run). Use the HRM to measure calorie burn during workouts and use the fitbit for all day passive data collection. Fitbit works great with MFP. I recommend setting your activity level to sed. and using…

I'd say 1 of 3 things... 1 if you are way under cals- you may need to eat more. (or working out a lot and not eating back) 2 check sodium in food logs (I can fluctuate 3-5 lbs [all water] after a day of high sodium intake) 3 could be your cycle Edited to add: RUN- that's not what caused your gain. Not too many fat runners…

Staying hydrated also make a big difference.

Care to cite any sources? All the research I did suggests that soy protein is excellent. (not bar specific)

A shockingly high number of us have upped cals and had better results.... most people seem to think less is better, not realizing that too much less is not enough!! Especially in your case, nursing- you shouldn't go on too much deficit. Upping your intake by 300 per day is not a big jump at all- try it for 2 weeks and…

Don't worry about it. Days like that will help you build up some will power... if you log it, own it and learn from it. Keep in mind that many people plan a day like that, regularly, to keep from having unplanned binges... find what works for you. This is supposed to be a journey that you embark on for the rest of your…

The initial cost of good powders can seem high but if you divide the cost out per serving, it's pretty darn cheap. GNC is the most expensive place I have ever seen on supplements. You can get better selection for much less cost through bodybuilding.com or supplement warehouse.com. As far as products go determine what you…

Perhaps another brand or type of anti chaffing product. I have 'Body Glide' and it's not greasy at all. No clue how it compares to other products, I just started using it but it works great for me. I think tights or sleeves are the best bet but you already mentioned those. Good luck!

Early on I ate yogurt and took a fiber supplement. Now that I've been eating healthy for a while, my body has adjusted and I don't need either... but actually have grown to like the yogurt so still eat it a few times per week. The other key is to stay sufficiently hydrated. If you are a coffee drinker, that can work too.

You'll get 20 different answers... much it is just preference to taste. I'll tell you that I like Optimum Nutrition brand and use the 100% natural whey (and natural oats & whey) powders... I like vanilla. They mix easier (which make a ton of difference) than most brands and I think the taste is much better than the rest.…

The gym is not any worse than any other enclosed space. Ever see a sick person in a restaurant, school, office, airplane, grocery store??? If you wash your hands and keep them off your face while working out, the gym is about as dangerous as grocery shopping. I take that back- most people avoid the gym when sick so by…

What HRM do you have? You can, for example, upload from a Polar HRM with a add on device, and use their software to do what you are looking for. Check to see if your HRM has this ability.

download "c25k free" by zen labs. It uses voice prompts (you select if you want them) over the music to tell you when to start/stop running. Works with your music, running in the background or you can use your playlist through the c25k app.

Same here. I make my marinade and add it as a recipe (since I use a few of them regularly). I measure the total in a measuring cup before adding to the ziplock bag and what's left after meat is ready... using the difference as my actual logged amount. Sure you will lose a little when cooking but we are really splitting…

Wanting to be a size "__" is a great goal until you hit it and don't look like you want to. Having a goal of XX% body fat is a great thing- more people should. That way you are always focused on something of greater value than your basic outer dimensions. There are plenty of people that wear a size "__" that are flabby or…

Try this dumb bell routine... http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/dumbbell-only-home-or-gym-fullbody-workout.html You can start slow and work up to your goals. You can get a 110lb barbell set with dumb bell handles for $79 at Academy; or similar set at most sporting goods stores. (it;s cheaper to buy the weights as a…

I bought a set at walmart which had 3 sizes of buds... less than $5.00 and sound is darn good. Red package- can't remember brand off hand. (jvc maybe?)
