I used to worry about sugar until I realized that 2 bananas will get you to or over your "goal" for the day. If fruits are good for you, and I know they are, then MFP sugar settings are just too low. I'm really sensitive to sodium (swelling in fingers, headaches, etc.) so I always try to stay way under that one. Average it…

Check out the C25K (couch to 5K) free app.... and then search for it here. It's about the most used "program" to get people running. I couldn't run for 60 seconds 3 months ago, not I run 3-4 miles at a time, 3-4 days per week.

Our taste in music is different so I can't help there... but in c25k I always turned on the voice prompts only, and had my playlist running... the voice comes in and lowers the music for a second while prompting you to run or walk and then volume returns to normal. I assume you have the free version on a iphone or similar?

The reality is that depending on your size and activity level... you may need more or less than 8 cups/day.

nice try. his decision (like yours) is not something I'm accountable for.

OK, I won't bother looking for you in heaven. ...lol

Funny how people who damn the religious for being intolerant, don't consider themselves the same. How is the view from the cheap seats? Your elected officials set the policy in this nation, not Chic-fil-a. Don't like them, great eat somewhere else... but don't knock those of us that don't agree with your opinion. By the…

Also my brand of choice. Buy online and it's no more $$ than most. But it mixes and tastes much better than almost all the rest.

I'm also one who likes and uses creatine... and it's one of only a couple things I use. Creatine if used in the correct dosage, EXTREMELY RARELY causes any upset stomach. Here is a good article on creatine, proper dosage, it's use and side effects.... http://www.intense-workout.com/creatine.html

Good timing, I just finished C25K! 8 weeks ago I could BARELY jog 90 seconds, and thought my lungs would explode when I did it. Today I ran 3+ miles and enjoyed it. The beauty is in how simple it is... follow it and you have about a 95% chance of success. (my completely made up statistic) I think the only way you would…

Optimum Nutrition has a line of 100% natural protein powders... they mix easily and taste better than just about anything else out there. http://www.optimumnutrition.com/products/natural-products-c-11.html?zenid=95a0518b99e984f1e689dd38e11cc27c

I also get depressed when I can't eat meat! :)

Of your choices, I choose C and go for a run, plus eat light earlier in the day so it's no issue. In reality, I would come early to help... and take charge of the grill.... there is no excuse for a bunch of burned up meat!

Science? You want one stop, definitive weight loss info from the very people that said saccharin and a bunch of other chemicals were the safe and healthy- a great alternative to sugar... only to find out a few years later that they were a cause of cancers That's only the tip of the iceberg. I'd prefer that big government…

I've had a fitbit since early Feb and have had no trouble, it's been great. It was worth the price, no doubt. Just be sure to calibrate your steps for accuracy. Now that I'm on maintenance, I might get the HRM instead as the data is better for what I need now... heart rate tracking and calories burned on runs. So either…

Typically you exercise to be healthy and get in shape and to avoid loss of lean mass when losing weight... eating more is needed because of the extra calories you burn..... if you just work out so you can eat more, I would guess you aren't working out as hard as you would otherwise be so you may be overestimating the…

Great job! Getting started is the hardest part. You should download c25k for you phone/ipod... it will guide you through a gradual transition into regular jogging, giving you that same feel of alternating walking and jogging- and before you know it you will be jogging 3+ miles at a time. It will voice prompt you when to…

Very timely post... I was about to ask the same. I'm assuming that a small surplus is needed but unsure if a "small" surplus is sufficient. I hate the thought of yo-yoing.

True, most new runners don't have the "wind" and get frustrated & quit. C25K is great in that the early intervals alternate your body's development of your lung capabilities and muscle... before you really know what happened, you can actually run! Just remember to take it one day at a time and before you know it, you'll be…

Life itself is not a sprint... I hit my (original) goal weight, over time, before I ever started running... remember, it's a lifestyle change, not a "90 day change" that will keep the weight off. I think those programs are aimed at those who either are in a hurry to cut weight/fat or those not patient enough to allow a…

You can wear a single ear bud and keep it at a lower volume and still hear traffic, etc.

The absolute worst thing for "non morning people" is the snooze button. Set the alarm for when you need to get up and just get up... it will suck for a few days but you will overcome it quickly. I've watched many "night owls" become "morning people" just by not using the snooze and making a commitment to get up for 2 weeks…

Perhaps your husband could alternate nights with you? That's what my wife and I do. That way we each get a decent night's sleep every other night.

I would just tell them that you are following your doctor's suggestions.

sell the fitbit

Submersible headphones and a waterproof case for your iphone or ipod http://www.h2oaudio.com/ Don't know about the HR monitor

Wow, aren't we a judgmental group! It's interesting that so many clinically overweight people are so hung up on other people's weight.

Would you take classes from teacher who failed in the business world? (Every college and many lower level schools have plenty of them) Just because a person isn't a "practicing success" in their field of expertise, doesn't mean they don't know and can't teach the material. Just because a trainer is overweight (could be due…

Most people undervalue sleep! It's critical to so many things. You can still lose weight w/o working out... I'd skip the gym and get the sleep but I would incorporate an intense (and short) workout into your morning routine, a couple days per week to make up for it.
