AM, naked, after tinkling. I still weigh daily out of habit, even though I'm just maintaining.

I like the 100% natural product line by Optimum Nutrition. For breakfast I use the Oats & Whey... the oatmeal makes it a much longer lasting "full feel" and I can go until lunch with no trouble. My breakfast shake usually looks like this: Light vanilla soy milk 1/2 frozen banana big scoop vanilla oats & whey handful of…

If you start off slow and make the transition less shocking, you will need far less "will power." Maybe ease into your new calorie goal over a 1-2 week period vs. cutting intake in half, overnight.

I think the expression "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was thought up for those whose jobs may prevented them from eating lunch!

The only thing that has helped me in the last 15 years is actually doing back and ab strengthening exercises regularly. Yes it hurts the first few times but I noted a nice decrease in pain by week 2 each time I started it. I'm just talking basic, low weight resistance. If on a machine at the gym just putting 20 or so lbs…

Why not get the nuggets or strips? Easier to handle and info is at hand.

You know the old expression.... "if you have to ask, then....." The support in shoes will break down and "wear out" long before the shoe's tread wears out. Do yourself a huge favor and get some new shoes. Take it from someone with permanent foot issues, pamper your feet because you will never realize how good you've had it…

Optimum Nutrition and Jay Robb are the two best tasting IMO. The Optimum Nutrition mixes better than most as well.

I do both, as best I can..... because you can be skinny (or fat) and unhealthy, just about as easily as you can be healthy and fit... the main difference is in your head. (by CHOOSING self discipline and will power!)

I think the better question is what to eat after a hard workout. I always eat a little something when I wake up- or I'll get actual hunger pain and cramping in my stomach during a morning run. some good info to consider and tailor to your intensity level. http://www.intense-workout.com/post_workout.html

You just did a 1/2 so you are obviously in decent shape... why not take 2 weeks and run for enjoyment (pace and distance that feels good for that particular day) before going back to "training." When it becomes all work, and is no longer fun, you will find excuses/ways to stop doing it, IMO.

Just reading this thread caused me to have to go....

I'm finding that losing weight was much easier than maintenance!

Brooks (dyad 6) running shoes, thorlo socks, running short, tech shirt, ball cap and glasses... phone with bluetooth earbuds. I run on a city park trail so there are water fountains near the start of the 1 mile loop, so I don't carry water, even in the heat.

This is a good article about post workout nutritional needs. I was shocked when I first read it but have since realized MUCH faster recovery (from weights and running) times. Not sure if it applies late at night but good info nonetheless. http://www.intense-workout.com/post_workout.html

For what you described, whey is probably the better choice. (and universally better tasting, according to everyone I know and all the reviews I have read) Whey also mixes much better, in every brand I have used. For flavor, I like Optimum Nutrition or Jay Robb. Both are excellent. edited to add: protein powders don't do…

Casein. A slow digesting protein (available in many flavors, powdered) that makes a great evening "snack" that holds you through the night.

First off- Have you been losing more than the MFP setting? ie: more than 2lbs per week if that is what you chose? If so, you need to eat the recommended net and if not, the cal adjustment could be off. I'm guessing you haven't been eating your exercise cals previously? Or maybe you have yourself to light on activity level?…

I also use a shake for between meals sometimes. You can do as little or as elaborate as you wish. Mixed with vanilla almond milk or light vanilla silk soy milk is a great way to boost flavor and make it a much thicker and filling shake with only 30-60 additional calories. Will you have a blender to make it? That would…

If you can get it there, go for it. I've used it for about a month and really like it. It only took me one sandwich to get used to it. Flavor is excellent and the consistency is decent... you can vary the consistency to your liking by adjusting the amount of water... I used a teeny bit more water than standard. Oh, don't…

I would just eat a little bigger breakfast or lunch in anticipation of a light dinner (or no dinner) because eating well under your cal target isn't good for you either.

Every couple days... I only like bananas and strawberries at a certain "ripeness" so I eat a bunch of them fresh over the good 2 day period and cut the rest up and freeze for my smoothies before it turns. It's cheaper, assures me the good fruit is used and I cut it into smaller chunks for better blending. (I think pre…

New Balance makes 100's of kinds of shoes... some made for running, some for walking and many others. You should go to an actual store for runners and you will be amazed at how many good options you will have. Do you have "Run On" where you are? A place like that will also watch you walk and help pick out shoes made for…

Couch to 5k is a very easy plan to get you on to running... Google: C25K

I didn't like the armband because I had to tighten it up pretty tight to keep the iphone from bouncing real bad... and that made me feel like I was cutting off circulation.

I think lightly active sounds right for you. And- if you don't lose any weight in 2 weeks, switch it back to sedentary.

Amazon or supplement warehouse. (I shopped GNC because I have one local but it was nearly 2X the price on some things and over 2X on others.)

If you like chocolate milk or a chocolate drink will satisfy the craving, you could try one of the chocolate protein powders, mixed with almond milk (or I use light vanilla silk) for a nice thick "chocolate milk" treat... tastes as good as any "bad" chocolate drink but actually has some good nutritional value. The other…

The MFP calorie goal does not take workouts into consideration so if you are working out, you'll need more than the 1300 cals a day to do it right. That's why you feel better on those days- your body needs more than the base rate when exercising. Keep your chin up, you are already past the worst part- which is just getting…

How many calories per day?
