Joyce, that is awesome! Your muscles are getting ripped, that's why no scale trail.

In our pantry we have... Pintos: chili, burritos, refried, in a tex-mex salad. Garbanzos: hummus or curried. We buy falafel mix rather than make from scratch. Dried hummus from Sunflower Market is good. White Northern Beans: "bean & bacon soup" without bacon, can use liquid smoke to substitute. Lentils: stew, soup,…

I'll buy one! In my hood, everyone has different trash days. I use a grocery bag. It's not that great for tying off, quite often there are holes in it, so I dispose of it as soon as I see one handy. Sorry if I've offended anyone, but that's what I do. When my current dog was a puppy, one day he went 3x, so I ran over to a…

Chinese has so much salt, MSG, oil, sugar and simple carbs. I'd stick with tofu, chicken and veggies, skip the rice. If you're eating it for food, not for a splurge day.

Am I the only one who thought of Obama?

Oh well, tried to show you a lovely pix of a horse.

Maybe I should print this piece of eye candy out. Don't know how to upload pix, but it's worth it to click. :) http://www.ryanarabians.net/Cal%20Ad%20Port.jpg

I qualify! April -- training for a mini-triathlon. Swimming 1x/week Jogging 2x/week Biking 2x/week 2 or 3 of them together on Sunday mornings with my buddy next door. Plus weight lifting 2x/ week. And I won't forget the dog! Lose weight, just 1 lb, as usual. It was really hard to get my pound last month, but on the last…

^^^ this is one key; focus on the negatives of unwanted behavior, and conversely, focus on the positives of desired behavior. All our little brains want to do is avoid pain and embrace pleasure. AND the brain is extremely suggestible, so start making the suggestions you want it to believe! "Sweets and junk make me feel…

Buy beans in 25 to 50 lb sacks. Use lentils a lot, use brown rice instead of ramen. Costco has good produce at reasonable prices, they still have whole chicken for 99c per pound. Almonds are still affordable. I like Sprouts and Sunflower too, but they may not be in your area; they have great weekly sales on produce and…

Always start a program with light weights, then move up. It's hard to lift when you're sore from previous sessions, and hard to make progress if your not lifting regularly.

I think of the good parts. I like the way weight lifting makes me feel afterwards. I like hiking in the mountains in any season. I like kayaking, using my own arms to get where I want to go. I like wearing my dog or kids out. I like setting a goal and seeing it through (5k's, mini triathon in June). I like talking with…

Hello! I am a halfsy vegetarian. Recently tried to focus on meat protein and didn't like that at all. We have 6 dinners out of 7 that are veggie, but I go out 2-3 times a week. Our family diet is on beans, veggies, tofu, nuts, dairy and fruits, away from grains/carbs but not eliminating them entirely. Happy to friend up…

Besides there being no great alternative to weight loss, give it a good try. Then, you might adjust your exercise routine and your food routine. What to eat is the subject of endless discussion. I'm trying to go by the book, "Eat to Live", which is heavy into veggies and beans. I am intrigued by the P90X routines (you can…

It's patently optimistic.

Use whole wheat flour. I wonder if we can find sprouted grain flour somewhere? Add bran and/or wheat germ.

I like the water from my new frig, so that's helping. Getting good water is a start. I put just a pinch of a powdered drink in water sometimes (like Arizona tea, Propel, etc). I drink very weak, black tea. Steep it until it's a pretty shade of brown, not dark. Just a few dunks if the water is truly hot. Add 1/2 a lemon and…

Love it! What an experimental science this is!

I'm not an expert, but since I usually go in the morning I do eat a little something. Then a protein shake afterwards, especially if I lifted weights.

Pre mix your own oatmeal. This is what I do (especially for camping): 1/2 c oatmeal 2 T milk powder 1 t brown sugar (stevia next time) 1/4 c raisins, prunes or dried cranberries a shake of cinnamon Add 1 cup boiling water and it practically cooks itself. Or you can micrwave it. At home I use frozen berries instead of dried…

Weight watchers has a point system, and some items are "free", especially rabbit food. Fruits, not so much. The sugars. It's better to eat than drink fruits, but if you're trying to lose weight, in my humble opinion, eat more veggies. Broccoli, spinach, kale, cauliflower, green beans and salad veggies. Try reading a book…

Hummus. You can buy it more cheaply as dehydrated in the natural foods store. Farther afield, use "last night's" split pea soup. It sets up in the frig, but keep it separate from the bread (or crackers) until lunch time. Fried tofu (plain or with soy sauce & spices). Egg salad.

I watch that one too! And "Infested"!

I don't get Swamp People. Watched it once. They just keep killing gators? That's it??

Yes, tho many have commented that mfp's exercise cals are too generous.

Hi there! This month I can pack lunches more often, and get up for the gym before work a little more often. Stay healthy! A cold sidelined me in January for a week.

Daily. If it's down that's great, if it's up I try harder that day.

milk, eggs, broccoli, yogurt, cheese, lettuce. so who's counting? I don't have the yogurt or milk as much as the family does. I have Ezekiel bread and berries in the freezer, plus regular fruits, protein supplements & shakes on the shelves. I buy produce once a week and am the nightly salad maker.

Thanks for the laugh, OMG!
