I'm 51 and 12-15 pounds more than I'd like to be. My night sweats have really been killing my sleep lately - and we know that lack of sleep doesn't help with weight loss. I'm determined to lose these extra pounds this summer!!!

Yes, but at least this hasn't been a bad one compared to what others experience when going extra months between. I know my day is coming...it gets closer every day! I'm holding out hope I'll be average with both my start and stop ages. I started when I was 12...I turn 51 in March so I still have a chance to be done at that…

Congrats on your one year!! So awesome! I had to start my countdown all over again this week after going over 5 months this time. I guess 2-3 times a year beats every month or more frequent so I'll take it! Good luck on those stubborn extra pounds...

Isn't moderate wine consumption good for us? My cholesterol came back higher then ever this month which I'm sure is due to my diminishing estrogen levels. So I've added a glass of wine and a small piece of dark chocolate to my diet...along with more fiber, exercise (still working on ramping that up!) and oatmeal for…

Giving up sugar has been the only thing that seemed to flatten my tummy somewhat - not 100%, but it was acceptable. I successfully gave up sugar 2 years ago for several months but have gone back to my bad eating habits in the meantime...gaining weight and finding my muffin top again.

I'm 5'10", 50 years old and about 173 pounds at the moment. I've been on Weight Watchers a few times over the years and my goal weight for WW is 162. I'm trying to be a little kinder to myself as I go through menopause...because losing weight at this time in my life is nearly impossible no matter how much I work at it!…

I haven't had the actual insomnia symptoms yet, but these night sweats and the resulting cold flashes (often with full blown shivering sessions) are definitely disrupting my sleep. Of course, I have to get up 1-3 times a night to potty anyway. I'm not one for napping, but I do find myself taking more naps as of late.…

It's all the new normal, right? Lately, mine go away for 5-6 months...giving me some hope that I'm done...then bam!...a month or 2 of mostly regular periods. Sometimes heavy, sometimes almost nothing. It seems extra stress is what will trigger mine. I can't wait to be over this. Let's not even talk about the extreme hot…

I tried a homeopathic medicine - Lachsis Mutus - which helped me. My co-worker has been suffering from hot flashes quite a bit lately and this remedy seems to be helping her somewhat as well. I only take it when they get bad, not constantly.

I like the Tofurkey brand the best. They have a hickory smoked "turkey" flavor that I like best. I've also enjoyed meatless bologna slices by Light Life. Both are similar to their meat counterparts but made from soy or other veggie sources. It's a little more exciting to eat than just a plain cheese sandwich (I don't…

I too am in perimenopause. I just had a similar experience last month when having a bout of hot flashes. Either I was super hot or super cold - made it very difficult to dress for the office. At first I thought it was because I got clammy and sweaty from the hot flash, but I would get cold even when I didn't have a hot…

I've read Dr Lee's book also and tried to follow some of his advice. I think I was doing better when I first starting losing the weight, but got a little lazier once most of my extra pounds were gone. My typical day goes like this - BTW, I'm vegetarian: Breakfast- Black or green tea Banana Plain greek yogurt with walnuts,…

I'm perimenopausal and have struggled with my weight for about 4 years. Tried many things - including Weight Watchers (which worked for me in the past), 3 day cleanses and tracking my food intake on MFP. What finally worked for me - avoiding excess sugar, alcohol, caffeine and processed foods. I cut cold turkey - and it…

I'd join the new group. I'm close to maintenance but this weekly check in really helps keep me accountable!!

fiddletime, I'm with you....I kept logging in the chart here because I needed the motivation. As of this morning, I am only 1 pound from goal and think I can do that in the next week. Yes, it was a very nice Christmas present!! Good luck to all in 2016!!!!

It doesn't look good for this particular group to keep going past this month - we've struggled with "attendance" for a month or two now. Perhaps there will be many new challenges at the start of the new year?

It's always reassuring to read articles such as this - to know I'm not the only one dealing with these symptoms or think I'm going totally crazy, senile or old!!

I can't say I've noticed any new allergies - maybe it's something to look forward to (NOT!) in my near future! I do have trouble wearing my contacts more than ever before. I'll have them in early in the day but have to take them out before noon (so I carry an extra pair of glasses). I've worn contacts since 5th grade. Now…

Yup, that is exactly why I wear a liner every single day! I just never know when it will show up these days after years of being so regular!!

I managed to lose a little even with our Thanksgiving holiday this week. I am so close to my November goal that I'm satisfied. I've put my ultimate goal as the December goal. I'll keep on participating if a new group is started even if it means maintaining. I need this accountability to stay focused!

I don't know if they are shrinking at all but I don't seem to be having any issues related to them since I started this diet and lost weight. I'm sure my doctor will recommend another ultrasound next year when I have my annual exam. I'm counting on them shrinking when I do officially reach menopause!

And here I thought my itchy feet might be due solely (pun intended) to my plantar fasciitis. I also wonder if restless leg syndrome is something peri- and menopausal women are more susceptible to?
-
HAHA! That's exactly what I used to do when I had an arrogant but short boss years ago!! Love it!

And why is there less hair on the top of my head, but more hair on my upper lip and chin?!?

Lasagna Soup from the Penzey's website. I changed it to make it vegetarian using meatless crumbles and vegetable stock. https://www.penzeys.com/shop/recipes/lasagna-soup/

I'm the only vegetarian in the family so we do the typical Thanksgiving meal, turkey and all. My husband prepares the turkey - and has smoked it the past several years. I usually get a meatless Quorn roast and vegetarian gravy for just me. The Quorn roast reminds me of the Jennie-O turkey roasts of long ago. Nothing…

At 48, I'm still perimenopausal but have been struggling with my weight the past couple of years. I thought I was eating well enough, staying under my calories goal most days, and I was getting 10K steps in most days walking our dogs. Just after Labor Day, I decided to eliminate added sugar, caffeine, alcohol and processed…

I also stayed the same. I was down about 1.5 pounds early in the week, then got sick and sat on my bum for the past 3 days. I haven't been eating too much, but trying to drink tons of fluids....and I think the cold medicine has messed up my system. Oh well, I'm feeling a little better today - just have a stuffed head and…

Sabine - I was just thinking about you the other day, wondering how your experiment was going! Sounds like a success!! My carbs intake has been a lot less lately too. I can't say if that's the reason I've been feeling better and actually losing weight, or if it's eliminating sugar and alcohol and most of the caffeine from…
