Yes your right, have to cut out the alchohol all together.

You may have to add in some cardio exercises besides spinning, maybe a stair master or even a treadmill. It's hard to get that deep visceral fat on a bike. Short bursts of sprints at a limited duration will help along with one moderate long run or exercise per week.

I like all polar products and out of those i'd go with the ft-40. Have you considered a HRM wit a GPS? Timex makes a pretty good one for under $200. Something to consider if price is about the same. And yes the Garmins are also awesome except for the 405.

The only one that I have used, 3 of them now, is the Garmin Forerunner 305. It is a GPS with HRM. They don't make it anymore but it is awesome.
