• It always seems that bad things come in groups of three. I am sorry to hear about these people in your life, and glad to hear your back is getting better. Deal with these things as much as you need and come back to MFP when you are ready. Best of luck to you!
• I gained about ten pounds coming off the pull both times, using Desogen and Yaz. When on the pill my midsection seemed to be slimmer, also. I didn't do anything different with my diet each time so I have no idea why I gained. Be prepared for getting pregnant to take a while after coming off the pill! I came off a year and…
• To be a little more specific for why I want to lift heavy... I do not want to be "skinny fat." I want to be in a healthy weight range without the flabby arms and fat rolls. It can and will be done!
• I'm going to look around the gym again today to see if there is a way to rack the barbell high enough so I can lift it on my shoulders. At home my husband has some sort of Nautilus machine that I can rack the barbell on and I can do the full workout for the NROL4W. Unfortunately, this will only work for a few short weeks…
• These are great!
• The Wiggler: The guy or gal who wiggles all around while trying to lift a weight that is clearly so heavy they lose proper form. I'm more annoyed at these people because it's an injury waiting to happen. The Strutter: Saw him last night. I go to the recreation/swim center in my town and it's mostly families and non…
• I feel the same way about a girl who used to be a good friend and roommate over two years ago. She has also gained a lot of weight since we parted ways as roommates and I know hers is emotional eating. I have to work with her a few days a month and that's enough for me to get mad at her all over again. So as much as I do…
• I think if you're comfortable going to week 5 then you should be fine to do so. If you try it and it's too much them go back to week 4, or maybe hold off on the 20 jog until your work week is over and you feel refreshed enough to try it. Nothing wrong with repeating a week or repeating a day of the plan! Good luck :)
• Awesome job and so inspiring! I am hoping to get the book this week. How did you know what weights to start with and is there reps involved, or only one set to failure?
• I'm grew up in Atlanta and everything was called "coke." My family in FL says "coke," my family in eastern TN says "pop," my huasband's family in Pittsburgh says "soda" and "pop," and here in CO people mostly say "soda." I've said all three since I've been all over the place. A southerner that doesn't like sweet tea? I…
• I could use some EM2WL friends also, and anyone that likes to strength train, too!
• Yes, Colorado is a "healthy" state by comparison but I've seen many times on the news that even the obesity rate is rising at an alarming rate here. I grew up in GA and was just there last month to visit family. I definitely see the difference in overweight and obesity populations between Colorado and the south. The food…
• Bump for when I get confused and need it explained to me!
• Summer is a love/hate relationship for me because of shorts! I hate how most of the shorts are too short, even for regular women's sizes, and bermuda shorts look horrible on me. Last year I had a hard time finding shorts at JC Penny's, Kohls, etc, that I almost gave up. I decided to see what Bass Pro shop had since I had…
• This doesn't quite go with your quote but I think this one's funny and wanted to share it: I'm so hungry I could eat the south end of a northbound elephant!
• Is it Monday? For me it's like a Saturday after a very long and stressful week! I am off today, thank goodness, because I worked last Tuesday thru Sunday playing "war" for the Air National Guard. Tuesday and Wednesday I was there from 7am to almost 4pm, Thursday from 6:30am to 11am then went home and slept (only three…
• Go to the Eat More To Weigh Less group and read about their successes. I know it sounds backwards but it makes so much sense when you understand it. When you're reading the info, think about why your sister was able to eat and enjoy food but still lose the weight. I hope things get better for you!:frown:
• That's so cool! Isn't it great when a good thing catches you off guard and leaves you feeling elated?
• Good morning! I joined the Eat More To Weigh Less group and read so much of the info there and many resources mentioned, and I've decided to give it a try. Three weeks ago I had started the south beach diet and lost five pounds the first week. The second week was tough because I didn't eat as much as I should have and I…
• 100% agree with that being the best decision! I had problems with my feet and ankles being stiff and sore until I was fitted with a proper shoe. I bought a pair of Brooks and never had problems, not even a blister, until the soles started to break down. It's pricey but worth the investment.
• Emma, I agree with you about the logical conversations happening here and am so glad I joined this group! I am becoming a believer in the eating your BMR calories thing. A few months ago I was eating around 1400 calories a day, running and strength training, but only lost about ten pounds in the months. I know some of the…
• Your goals are the same as mine! Feel free to add me as a friend to help you with staying motivated. It's much better having people cheer you on, even when you've ate poorly or didn't want to exercise. Plus you can get so much information and ideas to help you in your journey.
• My name in real life is Amanda :) The ladies class is 30 minutes of group training doing whatever the trainer has in mind. Today was some strength and core training on the stability ball. I signed up for this class because it is too expensive to keep going with individual training with a trainer, although the ten weeks I…
• The bit about people driving in Colorado was supposed to be quoted properly from Ellie78's post. Doing this on my smartphone apparently has limitations.
•
Well its a rainy and dreary monday up in my neck of the woods, unusual around here as we don't get much rain. Should make for a nice long commute (people in Colorado freak out when it rains, but drive like maniacs in the snow, totally illogical).
LOL...that's so true! I'm in Colorado also :) I just joined…
• Bump for making new runner friends
• Your fitness goals are very close to mine. I'm 33 with at least 30lbs overall to lose. I had been running but quit for about six weeks. Tomorrow I'm starting the C25k program since I need the structure. I can definately use the encouragement and someone with similar goals also.
