  • That would require the women in my family to have lost weight. They are all still quite large.
  • Thanks everyone for the help! I'm losing about 2 pounds a week which I know will slow down the longer I stick with this and the more I lose. I'm thinking about putting some money away for the future "in case" is all. I'm not letting loose skin stop me trust me. Like one of you said, loose skin is better than fat filled…
  • I can't imagine myself below 200 pounds. I haven't seen a 100 number on the scale in probably 7 years. (around age 15) That is an amazing success story for me to look forward to. Ones I've met: Under 300 Under 290 Under 280 Coming up! Under 270 (7 more pounds!) Under 250 (Back to my junior year weight I think)(By new years…
  • Weight watchers seems to me (and I've done it all, online, meetings, etc) like a "nice" way at looking at calorie counting. Kind of like the plus size stores that size things differently. "Oh if you wear a size 18/20 that's a size 1 here!" Instead of just saying 18/20 on the tag. :noway: Weight watchers IS calorie…
  • I refused to buy a home scale for just that reason. They can be faulty and if it isn't -just right- on the ground it's off, if it's an older non digital one, the spring can get loose, etc etc etc. I weigh in at the doctors office every friday morning on their digital scale. I think the key is to focus on using one scale.…
  • I live in Florida, so the cooler weather is definitely welcome! Makes running in the morning easier to get myself to do. And HALLOWEEN. Loves it. I read fortunes at a party, last year was the first time (and a fluke really, it wasn't quite planned that way I was just a guest) and it went over so well they asked me back.…
  • Welcome Patrice! This is a great site, and its good you're using the community for support. I can't tell you how important it is to have an outside support system, especially if it isn't there at home :grumble: Weigh in Day! Last week: 278 This week: 276 Two pounds whoot! I definitely see the importance of getting out and…
  • Yup. Dry foods like pastas and rice are definitely weighed before cooking. they usually give a "1/2 cup uncooked makes 1 cup cooked" or something on the label to.
  • Well I feel productive. I came home, made dinner for myself (parents are out), and seasoned the left overs (browned turkey meat) for shepherds pie later this week. I ate, vacuumed, did the dishes, did 2 assignments and 2 500 word papers. And btw... I love turkey taco night.
  • So I started the Couch 2 5K program today. Or at least an altered version of it. I can't do it the full time yet. But I jogged/walked in intervals for 15 minutes today. I'll work it up to the full thirty. Productive day for me so far. I'm doing better on my calories than I did last week, though the parents are getting…
  • Maintained this week. Not surprising with family emergencies leaving little time for planning and hence too many "I'm starving, I guess I'll have to have this pizza since I can't possibly leave to get something healthier." I've been helping run the pizza shop this week since my uncle is out of commission after gall bladder…
  • Well then. I guess my carbs aren't as simple as I thought. Minus when I eat out, I only eat whole wheat/grain breads. Even my popcorn is whole grain. I love apples, grapes, pears, bananas, etc. I do have trouble getting veggies in. I like them raw with dip though. I think even my cereal is whole grain now too..
  • I find I NEVER meet my carbs. I go over on fat occasionally, over on proteins a LOT, but there carb allotment seems so big, especially compared to the fat and protein grams. Any suggestions on complex carbs for me? (Since the carbs I do get are mostly from simple ones like the bread I eat my sandwiches on)
  • Treadmills... -shiver- I pulled a George Jetson on one when I was 12. Since then I can't get on one without having a small panic attack. No conducive to a workout. If you're not -that- afraid of them, go for it. Just up the speed until you hit your normal stride. If I've now given you yet another image to fear in your…
  • So up for it! I'll have to get up early to do it since monday's are my long days, but I'm motivated now and if I don't keep the momentum I'll falter. So tomorrow morning it is! whoot! Congrats on everyone on here! Keep it up! And I still need shoe advice. :blushing:
  • My goodness, the portions sizes are ridiculous at Italian restaurants. Mostly because PASTA IS CHEEEEEAAAAAAP. They can afford to give you 6 oz of pasta (vs the 1 oz serving size) and some sauce. Costs them about 50 cents in food costs... you pay 12.99! A good thing that I've found, while its kind of annoying and I feel a…
  • It's odd... I have to tear myself away from something to get TO the gym. Once I'm there, I'm enjoying myself. I don't really do the "Ughhhhh... twelve more minutes to go." I just go and do it and feel great afterward. Its just getting there that's my problem!
  • I love my digital scale a bit too much for an inanimate object. :) For snacks, I simply ziploc a few servings to have on hand to grab when I'm in a hurry. Otherwise I just use my scale to portion out food during meals. My mother sometimes sighs impatiently when I'm fixing myself a plate and weighing each and every morsel…
  • I'm still on the exposition stage of my hero's journey, so my greatest accomplishment isn't as great as many of the people here on MFP that give me such inspiration. However, the greatest accomplishment for me so far (more to come!) is that I'm actually sticking with it. I fell into the habit of "Oh I'm tired of measuring,…
  • There are many many many many variables in the weight we carry. Some of it is water, some of it is muscle, some of it is fat, some is waste, our organs, etc etc etc. We CAN gain a pound of muscle (multiples of pounds actually), especially if someone is seriously hitting the gym and focusing on weights. BUT The way gaining…
  • kamcat, I agree with KC and meek... you're probably dealing with a bit of depression. It's hard enough staying on track when things are good, I can't imagine having to deal with something like that and trying to count and track calories. Get back on track WHEN YOU CAN, and don't worry about it until then. Things will fall…
  • My mom ( a cook) says that freezing spinach freezes the water in the leaves, and if you're going to cook the spinach that's fine. If you're like me and like to eat spinach raw and crispy on sandwiches, subs, etc, it wouldn't work since thawing it would make it mushy. Freezing bread is definitely a good way to keep it fresh…
  • I know! I just finished baking a cake for the cake decorating class I'm taking. No worries, I'm peddling the pretty fattening thing to my starving college friends with their crazy metabolisms.  I'm glad I'm taking this class. I'll never eat buttercream frosting again. It's shortening(lard by product) and…
  • Good news! I lost the 2.5 pounds I gained last week this week. Yay! Back down to 280!
  • Just checking in. I'm quite proud of myself this week. I did what I said I was going to do and got right back on track from last week. We'll see what the scale says tomorrow. Either way I'm happy I pulled through and stuck with it. Now I just have to manage to take cake decorating classes without eating the cake... >.> I'm…
  • Take Robin William's Advice on this and don't buy one of those belts unless you're going to strap it to your head and tell yourself not to buy things that don't work. All of the things suggested sound good, but I figured I'd add that belly dancing is a GREAT way to tone up your core. You'll discover muscles you didn't know…
  • Yay for Financial Aid... Thanks to getting some money I could go grocery shopping and get the things my parents complain about buying. Some snacks for school: 2% Cheese strips, 100 calorie packs Some quick lunches for when I'm running low on time: Smart Ones, Healthy choice, etc.
  • Last week: 280.5 This week: 283 Ugh.... I gained 2.5 pounds this week! I really have to stop eating at my Aunt's Pizza shop. I was there two days in a row last week, and then I had moes for lunch one day and had chips, etc. etc. etc. I made some bad choices last week. I've seen this pattern before. I've lost some weight, I…
  • Ugh. I'm still sick, though not nearly as down trodden kind of sick as last week. I haven't really been tracking this week though I don't think I've gone over besides one day. We'll see tomorrow. -_- Currently I'm sitting in class being lectured at about how the international businesses are going to take over the world and…
  • Welcome lidapi! Feel free to post your mini goals in my discussion thread via the link in my sig! I too do mini goals, though I have a lot more than you, lol I need the motivation! So weigh in time! -does a little jig- Last week: 283 This week: 280.5 2.5 pounds whooooot! I was sick all week so I didn't really pay attention…
